It just came to me Mystery solved Hahaha, I wonder if emotionless Jonesy Poppins will be more terrifying than actual Mary Poppins. Also, can you imagine Jones singing? How awesome... yet bizarre... that would be! And I love the party hat.

I understand there's a narrative trope of plain young single women becoming governesses, but Jones here reminds me of Jane Eyre. This is a good thing. Jane Eyre is one of my favourite narrators.

Also, can you imagine Jones singing? How awesome... yet bizarre... that would be! I kind of can. Not because I see her as a character singing, but because after reading the thread where everyone's debating which actors should play which characters, I saw this youtube video and the lady playing Cinderella just has the blonde hair and lack of overt emotion on her face. And I can totally see what whitehawk is saying. Jones' hairstyle in this page looks exactly like the picture of Jane on the cover of my copy of Jane Eyre. Very governess.

This is quickly shaping up to be my favorite chapter.

I won't lie, I teared up at this page, seeing how the previous one gave it such a deep meaning. Maybe I'm a sap. Pshh. I still did, though. I'm really enjoying this chapter. It's making me see Jones in whole new ways, wonderfully. And, unexpectedly, I'm feeling so many emotions from it, ahah!

*sniffle* I wish I had a kind, blank-faced governess when I was an eyepatched young child.

Is no one else noticing how perfectly Lady Langdon hid the portrait?

Is no one else noticing how perfectly Lady Langdon hid the portrait? Also, it's a bright golden yellow, almost screaming for attention in contrast to the brown and peach color. Then in the third panel, you can't even make out who the person in the portrait is or looks like. It might have some significance, a clue Tom doesn't want us to figure out, but to know it's there.

What confuses me about the portrait is its actual location seems to differ between each panel, unless I am seeing things or there is more than one.

The actual layout of the room doesn't make sense, haha. Note the plant, the two-way door, and the dresser-mirror thing.

It reminds me of the Rhuidean sequence from The Shadow Rising in the Wheel of Time, actually. Each step forward in the explanation goes further backwards in time, closer and closer to the shocking origin story. Forward... and back. Forward... and back.

But look just one or two pages prior, and you'll realize that what they were nervous about was something more closely related to this...10 minutes later and things would have been awkward.
