Notice that they are no longer in a hospital room, but have faded into some sort of... empty storage room? It's hard to tell. I think we're just seeing different parts and angles of the same room. Shots that don't involve the bed.

Wednesday: Zimmy shrugs it off, Annie wakes up and distracts everyone, Tom trollface, end of chapter.
Actually this would make the beginning of the chapter make more sense to me. Zimmy doesn't want to see her, Kat. She knows Kat is going to be hanging around Annie. Kat looks at stuff and mentally breaks it down into parts. Zimmy can feel things like security systems looking at her. Kat probably has scalpels and power tools sticking right out of her eye sockets in Zimmy-vision.
That or Kat's head is Boxbot. Helllllooo!

Then again, does Kat look faceless, or Zimmy says something less disturbing than she sees? Notice that they are no longer in a hospital room, but have faded into some sort of... empty storage room? It's hard to tell. I think we're just seeing different parts and angles of the same room. Shots that don't involve the bed. Hmm, to think about it, the room is too empty and drab. There are Shadow and S13 sitting in the first panel and that stand with "the beeper". But is it fogged into background or fades away?.. Maybe, it's not Zimmy emerged from the little crazytown, but Kat walked too close and got caught into this?..

Some of the freaky sequences, earlier, were in one or another of their heads, but all of this strip is in the hospital room. You can see Robot and Shadow in panel one, and Gamma is returning through the same door (in panel five) that she used when she left.

I just hope that, if Kat is actually terrifying, we get to see it rather than just seeing the reactions of the characters on the premise that Nothing is Scarier. You mean like this?

Did anybody else read "It's the way you look . . . to me . . ." as "It's the way you look to me" instead of "It's the way you look, to me" the first time through. As in "look to me" being a phrase?

I think I'll go in the other direction and say Kat is not a horrifying vision.. but intimidatingly beautiful to behold! You mean like an angel? That would actually make sense. I like this theory. Especially given the chapter title. And angels in the traditional sense were freaking terrifying.Yes, this could work out very well.

Oh, you just know the first panel of Wednesday's page is going to be the horrible Kat that Zimmy's terrified of.
Speaking of, Panel 4 is really well done. Poor Zimmy... I can feel her fear through my computer screen.

It might have been a crazy guess Cookie, but I got tingles when I reread it with that in mind. KAT might be the Divine here... I mean, Zimmy really doesn't like the stuff that comes out of her head; she doesn't want to get close to them, but her reaction to Kat is on a whole other level. Also, the reason Kat has no bird is that Tom is showing only the physical world right now. If we could see the ether around Kat on THIS page, it would ruin the surprise of what Zimmy's seeing on the next page.

Kat probably does appear either in a mechanical form or in some kind of bug shape to scare Zimmy that badly. It has to be something shocking for Gamma's eyes to widen like that.
Maybe she's seeing Kat's true etheric form.

This chapter just loves to add unanswered questions on top of unanswered questions. I suppose next we see Kat wake up and mutter to herself what a wierd dream she just had...

Hhhmmm... so does Kat look different to Zimmy now than she did before? I mean, Zimmy was laughing about the pigeon hat before, and now she's trembling on the floor. I don't think it's how Kat ALWAYS looks to Zimmy but rather how she looks at the present moment. Maybe she looks like someone else now? (maybe Ketrak hahah - okay that would make no sense)
Alternatively, she's faking it, but that doesn't really seem right.
Meanwhile, Renard, Shadow, and even Robot are incapacitated for unknown reasons, and I have no theory for why.

Yes, that was about the most frustrating thing about that chapter. I always assumed that Zimmy had arranged some microbes to form a rude hand gesture, but "abomination" is a bit strong for that.

I always figured that Zimmy scraped some of that black gunk off her eyes and put it on a slide as her entry. And that she was manipulating it to give off a psychic message of being able to consume anything and grow exponentially. Either that or some sort of biological monstrosity pulled out of Zimmingham that was so horrible that even a nontechnical person like Annie could recognize it was wrong. Has anyone noticed the really cool background auras in today's comic? Initially Zimmy has a dirty grey aura spreading out from her onto the walls like a corruption, then when Gamma comes in there is a sort of "clean" area around her that wipes away Zimmy's aura o' doom (tm).

I think the contact with Annie's mind and the multiple Jacks made Zimmy unstable, so she has started seeing weird things like Kat possibly looking like a nobody/angel/robot/bird/robot transformer bird angel thingy, we know that it gets harder for her to tell who is a nobody and who isn't when she has a bad spell right? So maybe things are starting to distort from the contact with Annie's mind which is also not doing to well at the moment.

Anyone else seeing a pattern emerging between Kat and the Tic-Tocs?
Zimmy is set on edge by the Tic-tocs, she is also set on edge by Kat. The robots don't know the Tic-tocs origin, they also don't know how Kat is able to read their code. To push that point further "It was created by a divine being and sent to watch over us all", "divine" being the key word (and an Angel counting as a divine being). ...aaand a final point being Kat's associations with birds.

Zimmy is set on edge by the Tic-tocs, she is also set on edge by Kat. Interesting theory all and all, and I have to wonder if there's anything behind it. Kat is sometimes implied to have a similar connection to the Court as Annie has to the Forest. However, Zimmy seems to just hate the Tic Tocs for snooping on her, while she's cowering in terror from Kat.

Good catch! I was liking the watercolor look, but as we know, Tom uses character backgrounds as more than just visual framing devices. A bit off topic, but I still want to see what Smith's power would do to Zimmy. I wonder how THAT would effect her etheric abilities.

I'm sure it will happen at some point too. I miss Chrysoprax's Formspring searcher. I believe that a question was asked in there somewhere about how Zimmy's and Smitface's powers would interact and the answer was that it would be catastrophic or something like that. Too bad, too, because I had been planning a fancomic about a funny possible result that is now completely impossible.

It's just that Tom has cut out the part of the room that is irrelevant (i.e. the bed with Annie on it).
