I'm not quite sure what everyone's so confused about. It hasn't been that long since we saw Annie having an out of body experience with fairies. Now Zimmy got blown out of her body by the force of the punch.

Now Zimmy got blown out of her body by the force of the punch. Either that or Tom is pulling one of those shell-game chapters where Annie is Zimmy, not all Jacks are real, and spiders are coming out of the walls. Raph has spoken correctly. There are not enough Wednesdays left in all the trackless sands of time to begin to explain this madness.

So GC's version of Alan Wake has began. Needs more running through a dark forest pursued by Verizon ads. Though, if Zimmy ends up shooting nobodies on a pyrotechnic laden stage in Zimmingham to the Old Gods of Asgard, I wouldn't object. The real Odin and Thor might show up in Gunnerkrigg Court. Also, pick up line for Faceless Jack on Wednesday, panel 1: "OOGA BOOGA BOOGA!"

This chapter is making too little sense a little too long. Actually the whole plot is. Can we stop introducing mysteries and start actually solving them? As much as I like this comic, it can't go on forever. What? But taking mysteries out of Gunnerkrigg Court would be like taking Roger Waters out of Pink Floyd, or all the demons out of Diablo, or the delicious sweet caramelly stuff out of burnt almonds or SOME OTHER AWFUL THING. It just wouldn't be nearly as good! But seriously, the myriad mysteries in the world of Gunnerkrigg is what makes it so damn good, and while the comic will surely give the answers to some of the important ones - maybe all of them, maybe just a few - i fully expect and hope for there to be tons of small and big mysteries left to ponder, when the story finally ends, which, it seems, it is still a long way away from doing. Man, i need to begin writing shorter sentences. Oh well.

Hi, I'm new, I just finished catching up today, I must say this comic really caught my eye and I'm enjoying every second of it, I can't wait to speculate when I figure out this chapter a bit more.

Now Zimmy got blown out of her body by the force of the punch. That time though, the real world was grey-scale. I'm not sure that means anything where Zimmy is concerned though. She seems to exist in both worlds at once.

Are people seriously complaining about... wait for it... being confused? That is my near-constant state with this comic, and I LOVE IT. The fact that much more than half of our guesses are wrong, and sparks discussion and crazy theories... it's brilliant. And if you're so frustrated... yeah, maybe taking a break from the comic is a good idea. :/

As much as I like this comic, it can't go on forever. A British school novel typically runs six or seven years (I'm not sure which) in-world. Annie started at the school in mid-year, so we miss the first half of year one. That leaves either 5.5 or 6.5 years, and we're a touch past the 2-year mark.

Question: who is Zimmy actually talking to? Kat? Annie? Other Zimmy? Jack? Anthony? City Face?
Heck, at this point I'm expecting Jeanne to go shuffling off to grab Gamma, Boxbot trailing in her wake.

If we take a typical British high School it's Year 7-11 are in there with optional Year 12 and 13 as Six-form or College (Parley is year 12, Smitty is Year 11.) The Length of a school year tends to be a full year but starting on roughly 1st September of each year and ending with a 6-8 week holiday each year. The age at which one would enter which year is determined by age as of August 31st, if they are at age 11 then they enter at year 7. So in the current system it will be either 5 or 7 years.

So in the current system it will be either 5 or 7 years. All this is still just speculation in terms of the comic's length. Gunnerkrigg Court is not Harry Potter where an imporant adventure takes place every school year, and lasts exactly its length. The comic could end before Annie finishes up school, and there could be a time skip at some point if nothing important happens in several years. Anything's possible at this point. Presumably Kat. She is the only one awake in the same room.

Not to mention that it doesn't rule out the possibly of Annie working at the court after school.

Whatinthewhatthewhat? has there been an instance of a multiple of someone before? (not just switched identities?) You'll recall that the ending of the switched-identities thing involved multiple Jacks.

Imagine how scary it must be to be Zimmy. You're constantly hallucinating faceless people, real people are faceless sometimes too. Some your hallucinations are just madness and memories, some have metaphorical implications, some actually effect the people around you. Just constantly lost in the worst possible way, 24/7. And Gamma's presence can take that all away, soak it up. Zimmy sees something is going wrong. "Can ya get Gamma? ... h-hey ..." welcome to schizophrenia www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjqRYgICgdU&feature=related

Well, this was unexpected.
But it wouldn't be the Law of Unintended Consequences if it was expected.
I wonder now why Gamma left at all. Maybe Zimmy is incapable of doing what she was trying to do here if Gamma is around to anchor her... but you'd think they'd have had a "you come back in here in 5 minutes just in case" arrangement set up (or that Gamma would do it anyway, because she's not as gung-ho as Zimmy).

I have lurked here for fifteen billion years Cool, now the Winslow is with us too! and created an account today just to be able to say that THIS COMIC HAS MADE SHIVERS GO DOWN MY SPINE. I only have the vaguest idea as to what might be going on, but it is creeping me right the heck out! That's right, it's our Zimmy... I'm not quite sure what everyone's so confused about. It hasn't been that long since we saw Annie having an out of body experience with fairies. Are people seriously complaining about... wait for it... being confused? That is my near-constant state with this comic, and I LOVE IT. I, also, am puzzled by the puzzlement around the few things of which we know something. Though frankly, to see all the thumb-sucking on the tail of all the *frumple* over almost complete black boxes is kiind of... Heck, at this point I'm expecting Jeanne to go shuffling off to grab Gamma, Boxbot trailing in her wake. Mmmaybe. But why Boxbot? It's "Hellooooo!" would scare Nobodies away? At least real life schizophrenia doesn't force bystanders to participate, that would be truly horrifying. No TV anymore?

Judging by how Jack was acting last time we saw him, he was still affected by the spider even with it gone, just less so, Zimmy getting rid of it didn't solve the problem, maybe a part of Jacks mind is still trapped? Or it wasn't over at all. Or maybe that Jack is just a nobody. If not, I'm sure him popping up now is a sign that he could be connected to Annie's current problems and/or his problems are from over.

I'm gonna go away, and come back in a few weeks. This is no good reading in a day-by-day format.. Part of the reason the forum exists is so that people can entertain each other while waiting for the next update.

I'm gonna go away, and come back in a few weeks. This is no good reading in a day-by-day format.. Honestly, this might be the way to go. Each page in this chapter raises a thousand questions and really gives almost no clue as to what might be in the next page. This is because of all the fuckery we know is inherent in Zimmy's powers. She's a walking box of uncertainty, and the only time you can be certain of anything is after you're done dealing with her. So basically, waiting for the next page to make anything clear is futile. One should simply wait for the end of the chapter.

She could have said that, this could have been only minutes or even seconds in real life. It has been shown that time is more personal in zimmingham, a second can feel like hours to those trapped inside it. (as seen in the last visit there at the power station when zimmy explained that they hadn't been gone in real life long enough for people to even slightly notice) Since Kat has shown that much of etheric phenomenon has little to no effect on her, then up until the weird collapse due to loss of control by Zimmy, it's probably been real time. edit:spelling

I don't see why everyone is so exasperated with this chapter O.o
This is like.... THE Zimmy chapter. Now we get to see what her daily life is like. We knew it was crazy, each page just keeps getting crazier and crazier just as anything dealing with Zimmy should.
"Going on adventures isn't about UNDERSTANDING them. It's about being brave, and leaping into fistfights without thinking ahead."

I am the opposite of exasperated. The dream imagery did throw me for a bit of a loop at first and I misinterpreted the teethy-loop because I was expecting to see the cause of Antimony's affliction too soon, but after that this has been a very interesting chapter and there's more here than Zimmy stuff. I think there have been a number of interesting things in this chapter.
We got to see inside Antimony's head which gave us a new take on her trip to the Wood, and two new ships have been commissioned for the fandom.
We've had an apparent confirmation that Anthony is working on some etheric tech that can affect Antimony's fire, which has been a subject of speculation on this forum for years and years. Now the question is, did he start working on it before Surma became weakened or after (or in other words did he take Surma's "curse" seriously from the beginning or not)? There's still a chance this could be caused by Antimony sending her blinker stone to him via rocket, but even if that's the case he must be "pinning" it somehow.
And if I may wildly speculate, Antimony probably hasn't told him that she guided Surma into the beyond so Anthony may not know that he can't bring Surma back by extracting Antimony's fire.
And we got to see Kat choose to defer judgment on Anthony despite her strong feelings about him. That sort of thing wasn't unexpected but it's interesting to see her put it into practice.
I am not worried about a great deal of further strangeness happening because Gamma is probably still outside in the hall (and probably awake) and this sort of thing must be a common problem for them. It should be a fast trip through Zimmingham but if it drags out hopefully we'll see something interesting on the way.
I am still curious if Zimmy and Gamma are physically present or not. I don't think we can know that until people "wake up" and either notice them or Kat gets astonished by their sudden disappearance and/or selective invisibility. I'm still giving odds that the former is correct and that means that Zimmy or Gamma can "pause" people but we shall see. I didn't really expect that one to be answered before the chapter end anyway.

X.x , going from Archives to weekly pages is brutal. And gosh golly trying to imagine going through the first zimmyham incident on a weekly basis? My brain would have been more fried than it is now. It probably made even less sense back then since it wasn't drawn as well as it is now Also- fail to notice a slight difference a Nobodies in hair? never again
