Whatever Anthony is up to, it apparently has had unintended consequences. At least, this had better not be whatever he was trying for.

That's a nice friendly speech bubble you got there, Kat.
My first thought was that Microsat 5 is actually a weapon that shoots etheric bone lasers. I quickly abandoned that theory.

Or maybe something about Annie's part in the Microsat5 sendoff started her illness. This could be a complete misdirection...but if it is as it seems, and her dad is behind it, I doubt it'd be played straight. In that case, Anthony might have started some process whereby Annie's fire elemental side is leeched out of her or gradually weakened so that it has less effect in her.
After all, from Anthony's standpoint, that is basically what killed his wife and what may eventually kill his daughter; if Surma didn't have that problematic trait, she wouldn't have had to suffer from it leaving her and entering Annie.
If this is so, there'll have to be some risky eleventh-hour procedure to prevent Annie from dying in the absence of that fire element.

Wait, wait! Her dad is attempting etheric surgery on her to remove the pert of her that would die if she ever has a child, even if it means removing her fire elemental self.

Or maybe he's trying to bring back surma, and the reason he hasn't spoken to antimony in years is that he wanted to emotionally distance himself, so when the time came he could kill his daughter.
Maybe.

Woo, called it!
And did Kat show this much ... whatever it's called ... for Annie's dad before? I can't remember if she did.

Maybe. Damn... That's cold bro... I LIKE it. That's a nice friendly speech bubble you got there, Kat. My first thought was that Microsat 5 is actually a weapon that shoots etheric bone lasers. I quickly abandoned that theory. I'm not taking etheric bone lasers off the table just yet. Part of me can't believe Tom would get this metaphorical, with the bones representing her emotional trauma at her fathers unavailability, or any number of the other options postulated on this forum. Unless it actually is Tony calling in emotionally devastating bone laser strikes from Microsat 5. I think I'm going to hold to that theory.

That's what I thought too. Or at least trying to restrain the fire elemental so that it can't leave should said child ever come into being.

I don't think this is related to the satellite. It just feels too sudden...
And woah lookit Kat! She is going to tear Anthony to shreds for messing with her main babe! That is one pissed off expression.

I'm pretty sure we've seen Kat be angry about Anthony before; couldn't give you the reference, though.
Kat's thought pigeon being in perfect unison with her is fantastic. I don't know how Tom keeps making the pigeon artwork so expressive...

I wonder if Annie put her blinker stone on satellite. And the fingers are connecting her to her spirit, which is either too far away to get back or trapped in Anthony's security? I quite like that as a theory.

Yeah, perhaps she's triggered some kind of security measure by putting the blinker on board. I still like my "Anthony is evil" theory, though. I know this comic doesn't do pure antagonists and even scary jeanne is sympathetic, but there's a first time for everything...

Welp, in Tony ever does show up hes in for some hurting. Kat did punch a "god" once cause he hurt annie
Hmmm, part of me thinks this will still turn out to be stress induced, but the possibility that annie traveled to far from her body seems possible.

What? Also: now Zimmy shows those red eyes again. So the problem is apparently, how disappointed she was at "that being it", back with the Microsat5 Whatever Anthony is up to, it apparently has had unintended consequences. At least, this had better not be whatever he was trying for. So yeah, it's most likely an intended action because if their link goes "into the sky", it's more likely that the Microsat is involved than Anthony is on the Moon (which is quite possible). The question is - which of the two did the "smart" thing. Both seem to have enough of crazy desperation to try something risky, but given the circumstances and from what we could see so far... "Annie slipped her blinker into the mail due to being too optimistic about the link's effective range and failing rocket science" is more likely than "Anthony was too gung-ho anywhere around brain surgery and did not bother to come and do the job personally". I wonder if Annie put her blinker stone on satellite. That was one of the main suspicions when she handled the payload, at least. IIRC, someone asked Tom about range, he said that overextending isn't a good idea. I love how angry Brain Face looks in the final panel. Yay! The return of da Pigeon hawk! ;D In that case, Anthony might have started some process whereby Annie's fire elemental side is leeched out of her or gradually weakened so that it has less effect in her. After all, from Anthony's standpoint, that is basically what killed his wife and what may eventually kill his daughter; If this is so, there'll have to be some risky eleventh-hour procedure to prevent Annie from dying in the absence of that fire element. Wait... so, to avoid the eventual situation where it slowly leaks out, which would cause her death, he... started to... quickly leak it out and later simply prevents this from causing her death. That's the most obvious solution, by the Su-Field diagram of St. Altshuller! Don't mind the thudding sounds - it's merely a front plate of chitin-chitosan armor dissipating its kinetical energy into the wooden desk. Ah, but what "it"? ;D And the fingers are connecting her to her spirit, which is either too far away to get back or trapped in Anthony's security? Even without range or security, there's probably enough of tricky things never tested or intended as a way of carrying blinkers around that something could go terribly wrong three times over. Starting from the rocket's, er, "Bwoow-drive".

Theory time!
At some point, Tony stopped treating Surma and started trying to prevent the same thing happening to Antimony. He's vanished so he can go off and accomplish this goal (maybe he's been off studying a way to fix it). Now he's using Microsat 5 to kill her fire-elemental side.
...or I'm wrong. Who knows. Also, I just have to say I love that second to last panel. Her red eyes shining through is creepy

Righto. Even more questions. I still don't want to believe that the scar at the beginning was just a red herring but the matter seems to be even more complicated than I expected. Those appendages still don't quite look like bare bones, but more like bones covered in shrivelled, bleached skin, so I keep thinking about them as fingers until something new comes out of this.
Just what is Anthony up to...Maybe this is actually a long-distance etheric treatment system to some actual ailment that is causing the coma? At least I hope that the guy isn't taking lessons from Gendo Ikari's guidebook.

What... what the hell, Anthony? I seriously hope that this was an accident, but it doesn't seem likely.
Then again, remember what Donny said? "But the fact that he called you, and had the court track your location, no less, tells me that he wanted to hear your voice - even if only briefly." If Anthony wanted to kill his daughter, he wouldn't have done something like that. Unless he was trying to put people off the scent, which is really damn sneaky.
I personally like the "pulling the elemental out of her" theory. It killed his wife and it's going to kill his daughter unless he does something about it. This is exactly why he was so distant; he was working on a way to save Annie's life. The whole Microsat 5 thing was how he built the remote link to save her.
I doubt he knows it's making her ill. He's pulling out a very important part of her being, which is bound to have negative side-effects. Then again, how could he NOT know?
...who am I kidding, all of these theories will turn out to be very, very wrong, won't they?

Holy-! The EvilAnthony bandwagon finally has some vague evidence to go on. I'm partial to the blinker stone theory, because some sort of etheric surgery without even going "Oh yeah, do you mind me cutting out your spirit?" is very rude. Though it would be a perfect Tony-brand dickmove. I wonder, do Kat's parents suspect this might be related to Tony's recent phonecall? And if Kat tells them of this new development, will Jimmy Jims flip a table? Welp, in Tony ever does show up hes in for some hurting. Kat did punch a "god" once cause he hurt annie She's gonna have to get the wirestrippers, isn't she?

Why can it not be yet another symbol?
He isn't literally pullin out her fire spirit or caging it but her feeling that she has to withhold it due to her father is causing her pain and it's damaging her?

Surgery... the payload was a scalpel. Very... curious. And even with sky-bone-lasers in her chest, she's still trying to don her mask.

I'm not even going to try and speculate what Tom is doing here. This whole chapter has been one big WTF straight from the beginning.
I'm also not going to jump on any bandwagons. Sure, Tony seems like a huge ass but we've seen how much of him? Not really a whole lot, and besides I don't feel like he would be totally evil.
As for the whole "multiple bone spikes sticking out of Annie" I haven't got a clue. And as for Robot, Shadow, and Rey still being out cold, since I really like Rey I kinda miss having their input. Of course, them not being "there" probably serves a purpose and Tom more than likely has some grand master plan that I'll never figure out.
Guess I'll just have to wait for Monday then!

Annie doesn't seem like the type to go into a coma because EMOTIONS. That's a bit "Victorian romantic heroine" for her. So, whatever is going on is really going on. Also I love this comic.
