These gals remind me of Bad Machinery characters - which Tom loves. Or maybe I'm just a silly American who generalizes all British kid characters Either way, this seems to be a reminder that Parley was and sorta still is a stuck-up upperclassman who likes to pick on others - at least on the outside. Seems like her relationship with Smitty isn't as public as I had thought.

I love the blue girl. But that might just be because her hair is exactly how I'd have it if students on my Uni course were allowed to dye their hair crazy colours.
Amazing character designs as usual =]

Oh, wow, I just realized something: Parley's hiding a relationship she decided to pursue after a Jeanne got pissed off at her for having a "coward heart."
What happened to "nobody calls me a coward," Parley?

Well, the nonchalant one is wearing an alchemical symbol -- mercury?

Oh wow, yeah, Purple is really cute. Nice job on the design Tom!
I'm also gonna chip in she might have been a fairy- her eyes seem to be (at least in their only appearance) that blank grey the fairies all have.

No shoulder dots.

Looks like Parley has much more control of her power, at least to the extent of being able to get to and from Smitty. I wonder if practice has made it possible for her to teleport with accuracy when he's neither the origin nor the destination...

Red and her friend didn't have shoulder dots after they passed the test. Inconclusive. :)

Granted, we don't know TOO much about the fairies, and there's always the possibility Purple's half-fey or something.

The nonchalant one doesn't have pointy ears, can't see on purple.

Anyone else see a bit of Jones in Nonchalant? Like a daughter or niece or something? It's the half-closed eyes and skin/hair color that does it for me.

Her skin tone's too dark and the lighter yellow outline makes her hair look dyed (to me, at least). Also, similar facial expression doesn't really mean anything--if that were the case, you could argue Jones was a Carver in many instances in this comic.

Honest first impression of the page: What are tan!Haruka and scene!Michiru doing at gunnerkrigg court? But yay, new characters! I think I like them already. : D I don't like them. They seem villainous. And it is for this reason that I like them. xD One of the reasons, anyway, aside from their already-mentioned awesome character designs. But if they are villainous, they seem more like they'd be the 'evil is misunderstood' or 'well-intentioned evil' type. Or perhaps just the 'I'm bored and being bad seems fun' type. I'm also of the opinion that Parley is hiding her relationship with Smitty, either that or they know and tease her about it, so she's trying her best to combat that.

The successful strike back is, "This ghost hunt is something I want to do. If you want to come along, you're welcome to it," or be dismissed like a couple of kiddies yourselves.
Assuming they're on a hunt for Jeanne. </hopes>

We can see Purple's arms, here, for sure, with no dots. It's still inconclusive, because we don't get a chance to check everyone's arms. Maybe Tom will dispel the mystery at some point, though.

A Purple Boxxy!" ;D

Well, the nonchalant one is wearing an alchemical symbol -- mercury? That's Bismuth, the symbol of the court. So she's wearing a school-branded tennis jacket.

Hahaha. That's beautiful. Nah, somehow I think these two are just really regular people (as regular as you can be when you attend a school like that). These look pretty self-distracted, but it's the Court, so... who knows. Now now, they might just be looking down on the younger ones... And this, ah, open possibilities, doesn't it? Anyway, it's better to be "in it" than " in for it". IMHO. Which may or may not depend on how fleeting this fit of enthusiasm will be. Oh, and it can be funny if those students appear from behind the corner next... and recognize the trio. After all, this seems to be Parley's class, so others may follow, and "hecklers" can be there... Looks like Parley's still in the "keep it secret from my friends" stage. Doesn't necessarily follow. For one, "Gotta" could mean she told them she's in this "club" because it allows her more time in Smitface's presence. Not very likely, but possible. Well, the nonchalant one is wearing an alchemical symbol The Court's symbol. Seriously, you didn't notice this yet? They paint it everywhere. I'm also gonna chip in she might have been a fairy But a fairy would be in Foley, not in Thornhill with Parley. Not that this girl wouldn't fit in with them. ;D

Oh man I do not like the purple girl, but that is totally personal bias against scene kids.
I love Annie's face. Am I the only reason who reads that as, "It's funny that I could actually kill them with a thought."

Also, why do I have the feeling that, despite some negative first impressions, those characters are going to get some fan following of their own eventually? If they display much wit and wisecracking, they probably will. Those tendencies are enough to make most of the readers forgive any character for bad behavior, as long as they do it in a comedic way.

>thought that was a boy all day >feels overwhelmingly clever Huh, interesting! She's juuust about at that level of ambiguity to be androgynous, I think without the more lateral eyelashes and oddly enough, the nose ring, it'd be a harder call to make. But still y'know, ya never know? EDIT: yeah i meant stud

I'm pretty sure yellowhair is a male. Then again, it's a bit hard to tell if those are breasts or not with that jacket.
As for their ages, Kat and Annie would effectively be in middle school and parley and her friends look like they could be in sophomore or senior year.
@bings: None of them have a nose ring.....

Am I the only reason who reads that as, "It's funny that I could actually kill them with a thought." You're joking, right? Annie can do realistic visual illusions. As such, she's pretty much free to mess with their brains if she wants to. Well, as long as at least one more participant supports the scam - but Kat already seems quite willing to pick up such a game.
