Surprising that nobody has mentioned the obvious and undoubtedly true interpretation of Annie’s movement in the last panel: she’s giving Jack a surreptitious middle finger. (She’s standing at the wrong angle to pretend to scratch her nose.) Wrong finger... she's circling her hair with thumb and forefinger, stripping off the scrunchie. Dunno why, but I think it's a gesture in preparation for either a serious confession or a serious confrontation. The illustrations of Zimmy in the last few panels are nothing on what Annie can bring to bear if she decides to get dramatic, and don't forget that she can make fire without burning stuff if she wants to. So, conflagration-Annie could be either very good for Jack, or very bad, depending on what she's deciding as she unbinds her hair. :)

I wonder if any of the ancient gods (Coyote among them) existed during the Mesozoic and were active, or maybe mostly asleep, waiting for sapient biengs to evolve. Or maybe they arose at the same time ancient humans began developing myths (probably right after we developed language)?
Anyways, I don't think extinct animals are included in what people can transform into through that test.

At least we know Zimmy has a place in the fast food industry. (And might be somewhere above Raptors in the food chain)

Also, a related image from /co/ (someone there must also read these forums):

It DOES look like Annie's setting up for a revelation of some kind, but I think it's more a setup (finally), for the last story in the series, presumably one that reveals WHY she chose this particular form of revenge. Could be a story from the forest, about someone who gave her the idea there, or something she learned that put Jack's actions in a new light--either about Jack, or Zimmy's spider, or about Reynardine. In any case, the little spat seems to be over. I DO think Jack was serious about Zimmy, but he realizes the inherent difficulties of the relationship.

Doubt we have an impending fire. It DOES look like Annie's setting up for a revelation of some kind, but I think it's more a setup (finally), […] Yeah. I realize that Jack and Annie are entering that phase of life where moods change frequently and often without warning, but it’d be kind of weird for her to go from cooled down to smiles by Jack’s playfulness to I will kill you with fire LITERALLY. I do wonder if this is the entrée to the next story — although I kind of hoped it would be Paz’s. I have no idea what to think at this point about Jack’s feelings vis-à-vis Zimmy, except that clearly he’s using it to lighten the mood. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he felt some kind of connection that doesn’t necessarily map onto “in love with” very well. Surely he realizes that — even if he’s serious — there’s no romantic future in that. It’d be like me being in love with — I dunno — an unexecuted Aileen Wuornos or something. It just wouldn’t be practical.

The second to last panel tells me she's sort of sighing in a way that says, "Yeah, alright" so I doubt this leads to confrontation.

ALL WRONG!
She's letting her hair free so the dramatic panel, with her going full fire spirit, can be drawn. With hair flying up everywhere. She's going to burn Jack to ashes, put the ashes in a vase, and cuddle with it at night. Zimmy shall never have what is rightfully hers.
Also, inevitable person that will quote this post taking it seriously. Yeah you. You are a doof.

And admist all this character development, Jack and Annie will miss the third story.
They'll walk back inside just in time to hear Willie saying - "AND THAT'S WHY SHE'S CALLED WANDERING EYE!"

My idea of making a drawing with Anthony's "matters to attend to" being him in a pimp outfit and party hat astride a T. rex and fighting Daleks Whyyy everyone hates Boxbot so much?! Dunno why, but I think it's a gesture in preparation for either a serious confession or a serious confrontation. The illustrations of Zimmy in the last few panels are nothing on what Annie can bring to bear if she decides to get dramatic So true... I suspect she may try to fly with him and not "show ya the real flash", however. I predict Jack gets his kiss. Even if not in the way he wanted. She's still not much into him, just unwinds and relaxes. At best, thankful for the exercise. I realize that Jack and Annie are entering that phase of life where moods change frequently and often without warning, but it’d be kind of weird for her to go from cooled down to smiles by Jack’s playfulness to I will kill you with fire LITERALLY. To me, it looks like she starts with much less of provocation or even just weird mood, but the "firestorm threshold" on the other end of the range may well be farther than before. That is, she got a much greater leeway of being "really upset" without resorting to stunts half as nasty as before (though James deserved that first one).

What if a raptor got possessed by one one of Zimmy's Whitelegs? More to the point, what kind of parents disapprove of a girl that can fight raptors? Must not read XKCD...

Is this the first time Annie's hair has been down since she came back from the forest, by the way? I think it is, and I'm intrigued by the possible significance. No, it was down at the beginning of the chapter when they were discussing the dorm-escape plans with the other girls. Oh, boo, I forgot about that.

About five pages ago I was like "Ugh, JackXAnnie..." and now I'm like "Yeah, all right." I'm still a KatXAnnie shipper (I know, I'm a crazy perv), but Jack and Annie have become an acceptable alternative for me. This is really some of the best romantic development/relationship upgrading that I've seen in a comic.

Sorry, I’m blanking here, probably because my name is James and it took me a second to realize you were probably talking about Eglamore. What prank did he deserve, surely not the fire spike?

He just couldn't get Zimmy off his mind? Oh gods, the pun. It hurts. It hurts so good. More and more I am guessing that I won't be figuring this out for some time to come. Which is why, for the duration of this part at least, I stopped trying and am just enjoying the ride. I've been laughing like a loon at all of the twists and turns of the last few pages.

They'll walk back inside just in time to hear Willie saying - "AND THAT'S WHY SHE'S CALLED WANDERING EYE!" Annie knows already, and Jack can ask if he's so interested. So the only victims of this joke would be ourselves. Well, figures. Told ye, they did look like they have problems sorting through this, especially Jack. What prank did he deserve, surely not the fire spike? "It's as if Surma has come back to us".

Does Jack still have Annie's blinker stone? At the time, most folks, including, I admit, myself, thought that this was a casual gesture. I'm starting to change my mind. When Annie gave him the stone, somehow she also accepted him as a potential equal, as someone she could trust, and possibly, someone she has real feelings for. And he is repaying that trust, by guiding her to see something about herself she desperately needs to know. "Don't try to sell me that crap," he says. In other words, don't try to make excuses for how she really feels, really thinks. He hasn't spared her feelings, and in doing so has made himself vulnerable to her not inconsiderable wrath. In return, he expects nothing from her but the unvarnished truth, for good or ill. What part the stone has in this, I can't see. It may be nothing more than a kind of emotional placebo. I'm beginning to wonder, though, if the Court has made the stones part of their courting rituals precisely because the stones have a tendency to strengthen potential bonds between a new couple finding their way with each other. Even if there is no romantic intent, even if one of the pair can't directly use the stone, somehow it enables them to...all the words I can think of are weak cliches...share with each other. Annie may not have been declaring that she had any romantic intent towards Jack, but giving him him the stone opened the channel anyway. I'm going back over this chapter, and although I can't quite pick out the details, there's a powerful pattern moving through it, dark, sharp, fast. Dolphin or shark or giant squid, can't tell. But one girl was so caught by the moment of passing the blinker stone that she spontaneously sketched it, all unknowing. One couple discovers a forgotten love, distorted over time to wailing banshees. A girl tries to snare a boy with forced if not entirely unwanted physical intimacy, and is called out by another boy who is hiding his own love. The boy she tried to, literally, take by the hand, tells a story of almost falling in love with an unapproachable moon goddess. Somehow, all of this is foreshadowing for what is happening now between Jack and Annie, two people of great passion, one twisted and broken, the other tightly controlled, hidden, reserved, not without flaws of her own. There! Was that a dorsal fin or a tail fin? I can't quite see....

I really like Zimmy in the second panel. That dinosaur is doomed.
Jack's expression in the fifth panel is awesome.
EDIT: I always thought it was kind of weird how Antimony's hair thing was the same color as her hair. I generally use black (matches everything), but using one the same color as your hair with hair like hers seems a waste. The blue ones she wore in earlier chapters were nice, perhaps she could use devices of a similar color for her braids, or add different colors into her braids -- green streaks, perhaps, for her forest affinity. The purple one in "Spring Heeled" was pretty.
