What exactly is Annie driving at in the first 3 panels? Wanting to kiss Annie seems like a solid enough motivation for Jack. I suppose I could come up with a few ulterior motives. . .
He wants her to teach him astral projection so that he can mind stalk Zimmy. . . .
High-fives and kudos in the locker room for successfully melting the ice queen. . .
To make Kat Jealous. . .
But really why would she almost instantly suspect him of anything beyond thinking with his Gillitie Wood?

Yeah, Jack mentioning his parents could get pretty bad for any number of reasons, including what Annie knows about Jack's father. DOES she know anything? WE know that he hated Surma when he was 12, but isn't that it? Ah, beaten to it twice! May as well contribute this though: Add a DEAL WITH IT and it's golden glory.[/quote] Ideally, it should be a gif where sunglasses drop down onto his face, and the text is replaced with "Deal With It"

Zimmy would make a good impression with his parents? If by "good impression" he means "running away screaming", maybe…

Or "You still haven't figured it out? What more should I throw at you?". Of course it's not Jack who can lit up the whole building if he goes berserk, but he doesn't have to know that. ED: I find it very funny that Jack is offending Annie so much, and he doesn't even know, he's just trying to pull one over Annie... x D Would be funny to see it blowing up in his face. : d Assuming he's just joking around, and that Annie won't cool off.

As I said before, Jack being really interested in Zimmy rather than Annie is plausible. Remember:
1. All those times that Jack approached Annie after "Power Station", up until "Spring-Heeled", he was doing so to get to Zimmy, in one way or another. Zimmy was the one he was looking for; Annie was just the means of locating her.
2. Zimmy, not Annie, freed him from the whitelegs.
Annie's chief credential is being the main character (or one of the main characters - Kat's gone from being sidekick to co-protagonist) in the webcomic, and Jack doesn't know that.

Wow, Jackie boy's on a roll. I swear, his smile got bigger and bigger as Annie got angrier and angrier.
Yeah, he's definitely well on his way into becoming a trickster to be reckoned with. I wonder if somewhere Coyote is howling with glee at all this.

Uh-oh. Jack mentioned parents, and Annie looked all "graaaaaahhh...!!!" I wounder if she is going to try to trump Jack's expert Trolling with an unrelated: "MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!!! ...or, you know, my Mum's dead, and my Dad vanished, 'but for virtuous reasons, I'm sure."

annie just punch him in the face already. The way this is going, I wouldn't be surprised if a punch to the face would just make the kid even more amused. And because I just could not resist again:

Yeah, he's definitely well on his way into becoming a trickster to be reckoned with. He certainly is, isn't he. The more I look at today's page and think back about this little incident in Residential, the more I wonder how much the Whiteleg really was in control back then, and how much of all that was actually Jack just being himself.

P.S.: I think on next page Annie will be laughing about his "little" crazy idea... Or just kick his ass)))

To those expecting a Jack barbeque, keep in mind that we don't know the exact extent of etheric abilities the whole Whitelegs incident has unlocked. For all we know, Jack knows or can use enough to counter it.
Of course, that's assuming Annie's gonna go as far as go Firestarter on him.

This should probably go in the "wild speculation" thread, but am I the only one that feels like Annie has been channeling surma since she got back? And I mean that literally. Look at the similarities.
I mean she just tried to inspire love in someone else without feeling anything herself. Also, she looks like she is about to comment about Jack's parents, whom she has no knowledge of. Perhaps I'm taking a huge leap of logic here, but isn't it possible that Annie spent her time in the forest getting in touch with herself, so to speak? Could she have found a way to absorb her past the memories of past lives?
Certainly has interesting implications, if true. Might explain why she was out to get jack so much. Hyland Sr. has never seemed like the nicest guy.

I wonder if she's going to break down and cry -- then Jack relents and comforts her. That, or flames and broken furniture, it could go either way.

Okay, Tom, you win. This is better than what I'd been hoping for.
I really like how Jack gets Annie to show her flaws, actually. She's so stupidly stoic most of the time. Pretty much just for that reason, I want him to become a more regular part of the cast.

If Annie DOES try the flamethrower thing, I'll bet it'll come out that Jack can now block those things. Part of HIS magical ability. Or Bud can. It just feels like this is a hit Annie needs to take (unless, of course, using her fire might make her feel horribly guilty.
Also, at some point, aren't we supposed to hear the third story? I thought it might be some explanation of why she was doing this--the family in the forest telling her how to tease boys or something--but it seems that's been answered. It could be a third story of something she learned about Jack's parents, but that seems unlikely.

I just realized that the second to last panel is a premium setup for things to turn really ugly. Let's hope he has more sense than to continue with "At least I still have parents." Although, one could interpret it in a way that this part is already implied. JACK: I know why Surma died. ANNIE: What...? JACK: You killed her! ANNIE: Coyoteeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! Take me baaaaaaaaaaack!! YSENGRIN: Weak weak weak weak, weak weak weak weak.

Priceless faces too.

Ya...Annie totally deserved that. Jack is such a great character.
Oh, and I feel that Annie's reaction in the last panel indicates that she has just figured out that Jack has been screwing with her. Oh maybe that's what we're supposed to think and instead she'll say something else stupid.
Also, I don't think that she really means what she says about Zimmy. She defended her in front of Renard before when Zimmy wasn't around. She didn't have to do that. As others have mentioned, she probably just tries to say what she thinks will be most hurtful to the person attacking her.

i believe her anger at Zimmy was when she didn't want to find Kat first when they were all trapped in Zimmy world and Zimmy wanted to find Gamma only
