Hey, i realized something, what if tom is building up for an april fools comic? it'll be on friday and it's possible he planned ahead. Although i have no idea if he does april fools pages or not. This was the only page done on April 1st before, I believe, and I guess a sucker punch counts as an April Fool's joke? maybe? Yea I guess you're right on the April Fools thing, I didn't know whether any of the comics actually landed on April 1st. He still might be able to pull off a fakeout, but okay. @those saying that Kat will get injured/die: As has been said, she is one of two main characters and there is no way Tom will make the comic commit seppuku that way. Having her get injured is a possibility, given that we don't know the intentions of the mutant crab. polifrog: That is a possibility, but we don't know how confined Mort is to the area he is in or if he can even voluntarily move out of the area.

Well, that marks the third time in this comic that I've loaded a page and nearly jumped out of my seat. This page didn't even make me scroll down first. I have to ask: what were the first two times? Here and here. That a static medium managed two (three, now) excellent jump scares (though I will admit, I'm a wuss) never ceases to amaze me.

Since the first splash took place just after Kat left Annie's dorm, before Annie's wild schemes began, I don't think that the giant crab is one of them. (Not to mention - a line which I'd forgotten until someone brought it up - that before Kat returned to the Court, Reynardine told Annie he'd seen something moving in the water.)

Yea thats the point since we don't know it's intention. Also, it looks like it could be straight out of Zimmyverse, if it had water in it. Anyways, it's definetly the freakiest creature we've seen so far, it would fit right into a Japanese movie and fight Godzilla.

I dunno about you guys, but the cookies/I called it bit is getting a bit obnoxious. Maybe it is. I know I just did the thing a few posts ago, and were probably the trigger for you to write this post. It's just that I never "called" anything before, so it felt like I'm finally not entirely new here anymore. I've never seen a webcomic forum so obsessed with guessing what's going to happen next. Maybe MSPA. Note that there is a lot of cross-over between the two (I'm an avid reader of Homestuck too, and registered on their forum as well, although I haven't looked at that in a long time.) It probably has something to do with the plot in question. It the desire for self-gratification, and to be put bluntly, the bragging. It's hard to say something about people's motives, especially over the internet. But I can understand that perceived desire for self-gratification and bragging can be rather annoying. So I think based on this page and Kat's reaction, I would say that Kat was bound to forgive Annie all along... she just needed some time. I thought the last few words on the previous page sort of said that.

Maybe..... its ART! Maybe its not a live creature at all just a sculpture of a giant crab creature!
Yeah...I don't think so either. But.... where is all the art? Why don't we see more statues and sculptures... or have I overlooked them?
AND, if that is a live crab like it probably is... that place should stink to high heaven! Not that it would be a big problem... people who live on houseboats have no problem with the combination of interesting odors of the docks.

Why don't we see more statues and sculptures... or have I overlooked them? There were a few statues and paintings in the library when we first saw Basil, but I haven't seen any others. Edit: Theres also Jeannes painting, but I don't think that neccesarily counts since it's been hidden and forgotten for centuries. Even now, Kat and Annie are the only humans to have seen it since it was sealed in Diegos time and as far as we know, nobody else other than Shadow and Renard know about it either. Edit2: An alternate theory to the crab thing. Rather than it being something aggressive, maybe it's a guardian of some kind? Renard, even in his plush wolf form, would have the same visual acuity as a wolf or fox since he can still smell. So he could see further into the darkness than we can. However, given the size of that thing, you'd think he would be uncertain about it, so he either saw it very vaguely or he simply never saw it at all.

Annie and Mort do NOT have the imagination to create something this real looking. It looks like a either a "Pet" of the Court or one of the Court's Genetic Experiments.
This is most diffidently the "Splish" in the water from earlier. and also Reynard's "I'm sure I saw something swimming out there."
Question is who will arrive on the scene to save Kat first? Annie or Reynard. Reynard is in the Dorms, and Annie just left in the opposite direction after Kat got mad.
Problem is neither will come running till Kat screams. Which will be too late as she thinks it is a Joke or Illusion of Annie's and/or Mort's So she won't realize it is trying to kill he till it grabs her in a claw and tries to stick Kat in it's mouth. Then the screaming will start.
"Why Does the Court Have this thing near the dorms?"

Sure, but both events were screaming "fore-shadowing" even when we saw them the first time. "Why Does the Court Have this thing near the dorms?" It's the Court we're talking about here. They kidnap children when they're out camping!

We don't actually know that, mainly because we haven't actually seen Annie use her imagination, until recently. The fact that she bottled up her feelings may have been part of the reason. As for mort's imagination. is initial problem wasn't so much a lack of imagination than not being very good at it. He said himself here that he isn't very good at it. Mort actually shows quite a bit of imagination, take a look several pages further. The only problem with Mort being it is that he seems to be confined to one area, but we don't know if he is actually confined there or how big the area actually is.

"Why Does the Court Have this thing near the dorms?" Maybe they don't know it's there. It might have moved in just a day or two ago, or it might have been sleeping there for thousands of years without the Court knowing it (sea monsters are good at that kind of thing - from the Kraken to Cthulhu, though Cthulhu's really an alien rather than a sea monster - in legend and fiction) and just woke up.

Perhaps it's something that escaped from the large animal holding cells (it's very hush hush you know)? The court may not know it's out, and we can't see all of it, but it may have a leg spike or something similar.

I was just looking at this again and realized in the first panel it looks like Kat's still walking. So either it just popped out of the water, or she didn't notice it until now. Which is funnier?

The only thing I'm sure of (well, fairly sure of, anyway...) is that, whatever the crab thing is, Kat will be prevented from seeing Annie for a significant period of time.
I mean, last comic paired Kat saying "I shouldn't keep her hanging like this" with the "splish" noise. That pretty much guarantees that Kat will not get the chance to un-hang Annie. Or rather, not right away.

Not exactly true.... Anja expresses in the comic that she knows about the painting...just not sure if she ever saw it. And if Anja knows about it, there's a fair bet that she has let some of the court know about it. Anja seems to be a really big team player when it comes to the court. ....I only know this because I reread the whole comic this weekend!

Not to mention that people would have been noticing the robots going to see the paintings, but I guess the Court wouldn't really care as long as it doesn't interfere with what the robots are suppoused to do. Of course, if the Court tried to destroy the shrine or something, who knows what the robots might do, riot even.... or maybe just do a protest and not listen to the court. Anyways, yea, figures Kat would have told her mom since that's her old workshop.
