Ah, Antimony's strategy at last becomes clear. She is bringing in other mutual friends who're not mad at Antimony en masse. This context makes it harder for Kat to resist being friends with Antimony. If Kat stays standoffish then Kat will look like the bad guy or like she's over-reacting. And since Antimony's better at being friends with non- and not-always humans, that's what we've been seeing.
It's awesome to see Basil again; some of my fave things have starred foils that were so cool that they just had to become central(ish) eventually. Hope that happens with Basil.

Now I'm wondering how Basil got there in the first place. When last seen, he was headed back to his labyrinth, which is probably where he spends most of his time.
(EDIT: what with being a minotaur and all)
either Basil is helping set up the dorms, or Parley is offscreen somewhere *blit*-ing characters into Kat's range of vision XD

The fact that Annie even tries to get help from Red means that either she's desparate or that the Forest has had a bigger impact on her brain than she realises herself. Anywayz, again a very funny page. And I agree it is wonderful to see Basil again.

Yay for seeing Basil again! This chapter is so much fun! I'm wondering what Annie has got Renard to do, since she has complete control over him.

Well, they will probably get together again this chapter. Good to know, changing one of the basic premises of the comic could work, but it could also easily go wrong.
In the end, I laughed more about Tom's comment than the comic itself.

Loving all the character's popping up in this chapter. I wonder if Annie planned for the sheer amount of plans to win Kat over like this.
Also, yay for seeing Basil again. It's a good indicator for how much Tom's art has improved seeing them 30 chapters apart.

This is quickly becoming my new favorite chapter, dear lord.
The only not!human/at least somewhat weird characters I can think of left are Zimmy and Gamma and Rey, but I doubt she'll use Rey unless as a last resort. There's also Jack. Kind of depends on which students stayed over the summer or not.

All we need now is a page where she tries to use all of them at once!

Haha, I got it, this whole chapter is a ploy to give a cameo to all the minor characters we haven't seen in a long time.
Which means next one is ttly gonna be Doctor Disaster.

That is a pretty awesome goatee Basil is sportin' He actually reminds me of a biker, what with the goatee, the earings and the fact that he's a an anthropomorphic bull, makes him exactly as badass as any biker guy would dream of being. I've missed him so much!

And it's awesome. (Basil IS rockin' that goatee!)

Yaaaaaaay Basil! I wonder if all the people who were asking to see him again on the FormSpring had anything to do with him being included.
Lovin' him in Tom's updated/evolved style.

Sorry guys, but this just is not working for me. Sure it's great seeing all these classic characters again, and the last few strips have been entertaining enough in a standalone sense. But taken in the context of the entire chapter thus far, there's some serious emotional discontinuity going on. Consider the catalyst of the current events. Upon being reunited after weeks apart, Kat rejects Annie and walks away, literally turning her back on her. Yet today, Kat claims that she's "...not even really upset with her." There seem to be only two logical explanations for this behavior-- 1) Kat is giving Annie the cold shoulder to make her experience the same sense of rejection that Kat experienced. This paints Kat as a petty, emotionally manipulative b****. 2) Kat is not upset with Annie because she's no longer anything with Annie. She's written her off, stopped caring, and moved on. Clearly, neither one of these are desirable. So y'all pardon me if I don't join in with the har-hars and yuck-yucks.

This paints Kat as a petty, emotionally manipulative b****. 2) Kat is not upset with Annie because she's no longer anything with Annie. She's written her off, stopped caring, and moved on. Or 3) Kat spent the Summer holiday being upset over the situation and confused about her own feelings on the matter. She felt hurt and abandoned, but then didn't know if it was okay for her to feel upset because it wasn't really Annie's fault. She also spent that time being worried because she still loves Annie and wants Annie to be okay. It's easy to feel burnt out and doubtful of a friendship that leaves you feeling this way. When confronted with Annie at first, she wasn't ready to deal with it. When Annie pushed, Kat got out all her conflicted feelings. Now Annie is pulling out all the stops to, in her own silly, awkward, forest inspired way, show Kat that she'll go the distance to fix what's wrong between them.

OR
4) Kat did give Annie the cold shoulder because the small, petty, hurt little girl part of her that wanted to lash out and get revenge. Now that Annie is showing how much she cares, Kat is remembering why they were friends in the first place and the (understandable) urge to hurt back is fading, especially since it probably didn't agree with her morals to begin with.

Sadie's already stated pretty much everything that I would have in response to your post, zylonbane, but I also wanted to add that (girl?) emotions aren't as straight forward as you're assuming them to be.
It's quite possible Kat just wanted some more alone time to mull things over. Just because she's not speaking in conversations with Annie right now (she's not giving Annie The Silent Treatment, she's talked to her since the "lecture"), doesn't mean she wouldn't, over time, get over it on her own.

Or she just needed to go get her bags. I doubt they are supposed to leave them on the platform for long periods of time. And, as has been said, she still felt conflicted and needed a moment to clear her head after seeing Annie again, and this was a good opportunity. She knew Annie would know she was just leaving to get her bags, and we saw that Annie DID know, since that is where she sent Robot. This works alongside a lot of others' theories as well.

1) Kat is giving Annie the cold shoulder to make her experience the same sense of rejection that Kat experienced. This paints Kat as a petty, emotionally manipulative b****. So what does that make Annie for trying to force Kat to be her friend again through poorly-engineered schemes?

Hmmmm..... I think this might be a gender specific thing... and I think I understand why guys wouldn't follow this too well.
Hey Girl Fans of GC, do any of you Not understand how Kat can be upset but not really, but kinda yeah but still appreciates all the fuss Annie's putting into it?
Hey Guy Fans of GC, do you know any girls who have been upset, but not really, but kinda yeah...
I know Tom gets it because he's shown to be really good at writing for either gender.
