Just a few things I have read Tom say makes me wonder. He referred the 4th treatise as the last treatise. Not the most current, the LAST. He also said that CityFace is reprising his role...which could just mean a repetition...but the reprise is often a repetition of the opening number given at the END of a performance.
Am I just being paranoid? Thoughts?

Annie and Kat are moving into their 9th year at GKC, and there are still the 10th and 11th years after that, and as far as I know the comic won't end until they have finished or are close to finishing those.

Way too early for that. He probably meant 'last' as in 'previous', I think.

It could mean that it's the end of Gunnerkrigg as we know it.

You are definitely just being paranoid: (This is the comment on the bottom of page 834 and 835) As you can see he clearly states that he hopes you've enjoyed the story so far and that you'll continue doing so. He even says that he hopes to make it into something more than a hobby (i.e. a fulltime-job), and there wouldn't be any sense in that if it was about to end soon. Also, he actually refers to it as the fourth treatise, and not as the last, as you can see. So no need to worry about an ending anytime soon

I think it's just the usual case of Tom saying something without realizing how ambivalent it sounded (I recall similar concerns each time he ended a chapter with "Thanks for reading", and people convinced, when Annie ended Chapter Fourteen saying that she would not hear from her father for over two years, that "Gunnerkrigg Court" would skip over the next two years and resume with her getting word from him).

He also said that CityFace is reprising his role...which could just mean a repetition...but the reprise is often a repetition of the opening number given at the END of a performance. Am I just being paranoid? Thoughts? Just paranoid. People have already covered the 'Treatise' side of what you're saying, so I'll cover the 'reprise' part... Yes, musically speaking, a reprise is usually at the end of a performance. Character-wise however, people say 'reprising their role' for any returning character who has been away for a long time. Of course it could also mean the end of City Face, without being the end of Gunnerkrigg.

A bunch of people asked him how close GC was close to the end, and he literally has no idea. He couldn't even give a ballpark figure (or he didn't want to). But he's always given the impression that it has quite a ways to go.
No worries!

Yea, there's no hint that Gunnerkrigg is going to end anytime soon. Hell, he might finish a good part of the main saga and then decide to do some spinoffs or side stories.

If it did end now it would be worse than the end of A Series of Unfortunate Events <SPOILERS ALERT> in terms of unanswered questions <END SPOILERS>. Tom's not that cruel.

You can use the word "last" to mean "most recent", perhaps that's what he meant tin the context you saw it in?

hi hi
I have confidence that Gunnerkrigg Court will come to an end, whether near or far, at a point in time most appropriate. Besides, Tom is a good writer, I'm sure he has other stories to tell as well.

If I ever write and draw a webcomic, I'll have to get a beta-reader who can spot ambivalent uses of words (such as "last" when I mean "latest") and warn me about them, to avoid situations like this one.
