I'm kinda half-expecting the next page to consist of Ysengrin responding angrily to Annie's affections. Or maybe he'll just make her walk. You don't think he'll finally cave in, his false exterior being cracked, and hug back? Potentially leading to serious injury?

I would just like to point out Tom's brilliance in turning Ysengrin from a character to be feared and suspected to one that is getting hugs from the main character in such a natural, understandable way. I have never awwww'd at Ysengrin and never thought I would until this page. Kudos, Tom!

Wow, I feel like a horrible person. I thought the "kno-gak!" was some sort of Coyote magic working on Ysengrim because we was saying too much.
Thanks for showing me the truth, guys.

Nah, it's understandable, due to the "I will chop off your hand if you speak".

Nah, it's understandable, due to the "I will chop off your hand if you speak". Well, Coyote's charge is a little narrower than that: "...if you speak of my tooth to forest dwellers." And you know, I've been thinking about that. Annie has shown she can act a bit impulsively, under stress, and she's demonstrated a certain dismissiveness of authority. Coyote may have a legitimate concern here. Annie speaking of such a thing, when she does not have it in her possession and doesn't really know how to use it anyway, could well compromise her personal security. I don't see exactly how that work, no, because I don't know enough about forest folk, or about the tooth itself, but I think she should keep quiet about it.

Someone mentioned the Dragonfly looking thing in the last panel... I think it's the stick-person-with-headdress from the third panel, only seen from behind.

I'm kinda half-expecting the next page to consist of Ysengrin responding angrily to Annie's affections. Or maybe he'll just make her walk. Methinks this would be a appropriate time for Annie to realize to 2 important things. 1) That the days events were completely exhausting, both mentally and physically; and 2) That the fur of one specific wolf tree is exceptionally soft and warm; perfect for falling asleep on. What will Chuckles do then?

A lot of prudence-related concerns involved, I wonder if it's Coyote or Annie the one to make the next move trying to push the other one over the edge. You know, Annie want answers [from herself and about herself] and Coyote wants..., like you said, I don't quite get it yet.

this page is adorable...i love the panel where Ysengrin 'straightens her back'
Also, not necessarily about this page...and im sure others have pointed this out already, but its interesting how Annie seems to get along with (at least to a much better degree than the others of the court) the creatures of the forest and develops a connection with them, meanwhile Kat is almost worshipped (the 'angel') for the robots, which kind of represent the technology of the court ('living' beings created by the court...well i consider them living anyways!) . And Annie has empathy for/ makes connections easily with ethereal beings.
are they meant to help bridge the divide in a way?
Perhaps just a little, its been pretty much shown that something like that would be nearly impossible or at least happen very very slowly.

Is it possible that Ysengrin's flashes of fanaticism and temper are at least partly put on to fool the Court? Jones said that Ysengrin is going crazy, but what if that's just what he wants her to think? He may have his angry side, but his emotions seem to be more controlled than anybody has given him credit for, and his willingness to reveal the reasonable person hidden underneath may be a sign that he trusts Annie to keep this secret.
It's also possible that he feels that Renard has been negligent as Annie's Woods influence/guardian, and is adopting a paternal stance because he feels obliged to step in where his rival may have failed.

So... does Grin's back crack a little, or he suffers from allergy on hugs? Wow. Ysengrin does have a soft side. Wow. Annie does have a soft side. Still. Maybe that outburst from before when Coyote told Jones he would look after her was just a way to keep up his reputation. Maybe he simply doesn't like to babysit anyone - whether he likes them personally or not. Or he got enough of foresight to know it will end in HUGS. Or maybe he'll just make her walk. Anyway, she's better now, and they almost arrived. Someone mentioned the Dragonfly looking thing in the last panel... I think it's the stick-person-with-headdress from the third panel, only seen from behind. Or maybe it turned and now looks straight at them. I wonder whether the "gak" should have come a little further into the word, to make it less confusing for the readers. You answered it yourself, right?

Jones wasn't fooled by Ysengrin's display of temper when we first met him... she knew it was just a trick to plant those seeds. I think she's questioning his sanity because he's a wolf that constantly wears the form of a man... even though he seems to despise men. He was upset that Rey took the form of a wolf, yet he's not taking his own true form. Prior to that first meeting, Ysengrin hadn't received his tree powers yet and was a regular wolf... not sure about his ear being missing then though.

Contrary to my earlier post: Ysengrin is just a big old soppy: Well, big old soppy for a warrior. I'd mistaken that "pat" for just more motion lines. (I'll acknowledge that he could also just be correcting her posture to go with his speech.) Heh, I wouldn't say he's a total sap, but he's definitely warming up to her. I doubt she's going to change his opinion on humanity, but Annie has a natural charm with the "spirit world." It's definitely amusing to see the nicer side of Ysengrin.

Guy's still a wolf, I wouldn't want to glomp him round the neck...
Nice to see yet another side of Ysengrin though, adding wise to angry, prejudiced, vulnerable, proud and protective.

Nice to see yet another side of Ysengrin though, adding wise to angry, prejudiced, vulnerable, proud and protective. The interpretation of bias was: "If I can rule for a particular side I will do so." For prejudgment: "No matter what happens in the arena I will rule for a particular side." Bias was permitted, but not prejudgment. Not prejudiced. Just heavily biased.
