Wow. Ysengrin does have a soft side. Maybe that outburst from before when Coyote told Jones he would look after her was just a way to keep up his reputation.

Carver, you should know by now not to try to hug a wolf. Jeeze.

Guys, what's a kno-gak? :B It's the onomatopoeia what results when you glomp an aging wolf around the throat, apparently.

Yeah, let's make the girl cry again before introducing her to everyone.
Ed: is that ethereal confetti of some kind?

Maybe he's feeling a bit more sympathetic seeing the bind around her wrist? That she's just another one of Coyote's means of entertainment?

I think with all these strong emotions, I've started to miss the blue in Annie's eyes, it completed her colour scheme.
She should be careful with those teeth too.

ahhhh~ this is the most adorable <3
Yeah, what is up with those ribbon things.
Edit: I like how someone wrote they were ribbons while I wrote this post. We still don't know what's up with them, however. Some decor, I suppose. But who put it there? :3 I want to find out.
Another edit: and while I edited this post another three posts were posted! Wahhhh!

Ed: is that ethereal confetti of some kind? I'm guessing all the banners and ribbons and stuff are warding and warning etheric charms and stuff. That would mean we're heading for some sort of camp at least, maybe even some more permanent community. [edit] Or possibly some sort of regular meeting place that would require the same. [/edit]

I propose we rename this chapter "Snuggles for Ysengrin".

The thing I respect about Ysengrin is that there is no softness to him. Strength is all he values.
He knows that Annie is strong, in general, but she had a weak spot. He only means to show her how to look at it to shore up her defenses.
He's not an old soppy to be pushed off your lap if he gets in the way. He's responding to her hug about as well as if she'd bit his ear.
And it's significant that Ysengrin, who focuses only on strength, presents the matter in exactly the way she needed to hear it, something no one else managed to do, perhaps out of consideration of her feelings, or worse, her youthful fragility.
I like the anthro-icon in frame 3. Are these the people Annie's going to be living with? In any event, I don't think those things in the trees are mere ribbons. They're entities of some sort. You can tell because they're not...fully connected.

Kno-gak! It would be clearer if it read, "kno... GAK!" But Tom's font doesn't have upper and lower case, unfortunately. Ysengrin started to say "knowledge," or maybe "knowing," and then reacted to Annie's unexpected hug.
About the coloured lines: they resemble cave paintings, especially the human figure with headdress. The floating lines resemble entoptic lines, often a part of cave art.

Amazing how Ysengrin makes a shift from a psychotic ravenous homicidal pile of fangs to a wise and proud creature. Coyote taught Annie an important lesson when he showed her the three shapes of Ysengrin, and maybe this page tells us that Jones was wrong in her observation of Ysengrin when he visited the Court.

Could I get an Ysengrin to be my godfather (or other paternal figure-like role model) or something? Annie still has ridiculously intact make-up. Annie's eye make-up only goes above her eyes, so the most that could happen to it would be for it to get smudged when she wipes her eyes.

I think they're actually inhabitants of the forest, but why they suddenly decided to show up, I'm not sure.

In some forms of symbolic magic you allegedly make the form of something in order to control or have some other effect on it. For example, if you want a lucky charm for hunting deer you might carve a miniature deer figure to carry with you while hunting; bonus points if it's made from deer antler. It makes perfect sense to me to see a humanoid-shaped thinger here since the people here seem to think of the humans of the Court as their enemies. What I'm curious about is the one that's shaped more or less like a dragonfly in the last panel.
