Well, that last panel isn't unsettling at all.

Annie almost seems...content?
Not angry, anyway.
And a family she can stay with? That will be interesting.
I hope Kat can visit.

I just like this page for the way Jones's hair got ruffled. Is that wrong?
Also, interesting last pose there, Coyote.

I question the cumulative sanity of Coyote AND Ysengrin, but hey, it's not like anyone listens to me.
Go for it, girl.

I hope Kat isn't too upset or sad, is what I hope. They were going to go on vacation together, after all. It's a bit of a sudden dropping-out, and for no reason that had anything to do with poor Kat.

This will be interesting. What does Coyote mean by family? Will Annie be forced into an animal form? How different will be Annie after she returns to the court? (imagining Annie as a druid at this point)
Also, will she be able to say goodbye to Kat and Renard?

I wonder if she'll be able to communicate with Kat. I somehow doubt the Court will be so receptive to computers or phones, or even mail carriers.

Well, I did figure she was gonna say yes. Lets just hope she doesn't REALLY get transferred to Chester. or Foley.
So, think she will have to be an animal for summer break? Perhaps some sort of large cat?

If indeed she decides to stay in the forest for the summer, which seems pretty likely unless she has a huge change of heart, I wonder how Tom will structure the up-coming story. We're having a two-week break coming up. When we get back, will he show Annie's life in the woods, or will he come back at the end of the summer, after Annie has spent an entire two months living in the wild and learning from Coyote?

I also love how Jones' hair got ruffled: a literal representation at what Coyote is doing to Jones. And of course, Coyote's victory pose at the end. The panel with Annie in it is one of my favorite in-comic drawings of her. Her hair and expression is great. *edit* Wild Speculation: she will meet the bird family and the boy from "A Week for Kat" *edit*

I figure we won't see much of it straight away (maybe postcards from Kat agin), and then Annie will come back all mysterious like Luke in Return of the Jedi. Then maybe some flashbacks later on revealing some of the key events that have changed Annie.

What I love about Panel 6 is how much Tom can convey just by having Jones stand there. Her face hasn't changed, her posture is calm, her hands are relaxed at her side, but I get the definite impression of someone who has completely run out of responses.
ETA: Also, Coyote claims he "can almost feel how anxious" Jones is to return to the Court. So Coyote can sense anticipation or eagerness in Jones.

Or the third option, show some things happening at the court, sans Annie. I'm curious to see what Kat's reaction will be, to say the least. Annie almost seems...content? Not angry, anyway. And a family she can stay with? That will be interesting. I hope Kat can visit. She's probably just relieved that she's going to be able to stay (since Jones seemed pretty serious about that threat to take her back by force).

I doubt if Coyote is actually sensing anything about Jones. He's actually suggesting a course of action for her in panel 5, something she can do to patch things up back at the court.

On a more prosaic note, I wonder how Annie is going to enjoy camping in the woods for a summer. Granted, there's no guaranteeing that she'll remain in human form, but she and Kat weren't exactly comfortable roughing it back in "Residential."
Despite Coyote being an incorrigible trickster, I think the experience will be good for Annie. I'm also hoping we'll finally get to see what the forest looks like in the ether.

Methinks Jones is actually pretty pro-'Annie staying in the forest', actually. .. As approving as Jones can get, I suppose.
She has always been sorta pro'go find out by yourself' in terms of Annie's development. Jones, the motherbird that pushes her adopted young out of the nest to see them fly? There has got to be a shorter phrasing for that.
Slightly offtopic: Coyote is turning into a slinky, I swear. And what's with the noodly last panel? A black sun? Buh??
The way they're talking about the whole thing sounds like a sleepover/exchange student trip. As to the 'family she can stay with': I am suddenly picturing Annie as an au-pair to a bunch of green elves. [insert embarrassing snortlaughs]
Final thing: Ysengrin has mastered the pout. It is the poutiest pout ever. Pout.

It seems to me Coyote is implying that Jones would actually see merit in the idea, so it's not just a Jedi mind trick.

Stay with Jones, perhaps?

I love Annie's expression in panel 5.
Annie will probably be able to stay with a humanoid family of some variety.

Now that it is agreed she can stay, she can retrieve her things, (toothbrush, etc), explain things to Kat & family, settle Rey's situation, and apologize to Eglamore for the whole 'fiery death wave of death' thing... Oopsie!

Considering that Annie is both a medium in training and quite possibly part Fire Elemental, I's say she's etheric enough to remain in human form.
Also Coyote seems to enjoy having her around as she is, and Yssy wouldn't be a party pooper for no reason.

So Annie just ditched Kat for the summer. And Kat's homework book is still in her room.
I think there will be fallout.
