I had a go at Reynardine. I'm not very good with the shading aspect but I had a go. The outlines are a bit indistinct because he's mostly white, but hopefully you get the gist. While I'm posting in this thread, I might as well ask: What progress?

There is no progress yet, we are waiting for the server IP address.

accidental double post, consolidated them both into one and deleted previous.I'd love to join this if it ever gets off the ground. I've been reading this for a while now, and is there any way we can use redstone? When some of the buildings are done, I mean. The Court bridge and Aetheric Generator thing are 2 possibilities. there must be a few more but that's all I can think off from top of my head. monorails and an underground railway, a red stone powered minecart train? -------------Actually, I haven't the slightest idea where to start and make a Minecraft transferrable schematic. www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=15522MCedit is a map editing tool, I've never used it myself but this seems promising way to speed up building. www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1012&t=45396Apparently you can put schematics in it.

Day is probably not going to be on until Bukkit is released, a program used for SMP programs or plug-ins like Craftbook. This is what she meant by "status update - awaiting bucket release"

It is? Well, I still don't think you should abandon this project, just wait a bit longer.

It's not actually out, it's kind of in an alpha/early-beta state. My cousin runs a server using Bukkit, and he's still waiting on a full release before he brings the server public.

Are we still waiting for this to happen? I don't think Bukkit will be released anytime soon because they've stated on their site that they're not going to release it if they don't get a legal blessing from Mojang. If you haven't been keeping up with Minecraft news, Mojang is kind of busy with other things, like winning 5 awards at the GDC, in order to look into Bukkit's legal issues. And even then, they may not approve of it, in which case Bukkit will never go past beta.
So I think it's probably best if we start this soon instead of waiting for a thing to happen that may not even happen!

Bukkit works now btw, The server I'm on is Public and it works. It's a bit fiddly atm cause there is very little in the way of a GUI, but it does work.

I'd have to say that the way to go is to either offer to pay for a server or ask around on the forums. My suggestion is that we make the server not just for building the court, but for doing other stuff with other fans.

Paying a reasonable amount for the server is a great idea. After all, dedicated Minecraft servers, especially those that can support a lot of players at the same time, are expensive.
How about setting up a donation system with monthly goals? This way, those who can pay will chip in, and those who can't or don't want for some reason will still be able to enjoy it, without a set "membership" fee.
Some may find this idea "unjust" to paying members, but it's a scheme that works with a lot of free games, think Dwarf Fortress. All that is left to know is how much, realistically, we can get from willing people per month.

I have a problem where sadly I am unable to spend the money to buy the game itself, i would love to help if not for that, sounds like this would be a awesome idea.

I'm also happy to help out if we get this server going. Seeing from these posts, we probably have ~10 people geared to go and making this thing a reality!

www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1021&t=48884this looks like a plausible texture pack to use, If a little too Victorian. Oh wait I just remembered texture packs are client side *bashes head on wall* Well If it's only 10 players you could just set up a Hamachi network and play through that, it's in effect a virtual Private network, and it's free. (hopefully that makes up for earlier stupidity.)

Ive been thinking we could just use an already established server and build on it. In fact Im guessing my regulaur server would be a great place to do it. Ill just inform the server owner that 5 - 10 or so people would like to build gunnerkrigg court on his server. then we could get started.

Hamachi is not the problem.. In most cases you don't even need it, (port forwarding + DynDNS) will do the trick nicely. The problem is the server hardware - it should be a decent machine running 24x7. I have a decent machine but I don't want to leave it running 24x7, also minecraft is a potential security hole (let's face it, it's not very well written).
Also, digging materials by hand is also not a problem, operators even on a vanilla server can use "give" command to create materials.

Although I just realized if we did do that wed have to dig all the materials by hand...... Dude I am being totally serious here I love to mine shit up. All I ever do in minecraft is build a 9x9 little wooden hut and then just mine all day long. Stacks and stacks of gold and iron and I don't even use it for anything. If huge stocks of materials are required, I am your lass.

I must voice my opinion that sharing a server like that is far from the best option. I'd love to see a fully customizable server, full control over backups, access control lists (whitelist, must apply here to join). And, of course, the Court being the only object on the server..
But it is a readily available one, all right.

If someone else was maybe collecting them and stuff....but yah
