Yeah, but that doesn't explain the "Spinach + Bownhand" quote. Spinach and Beanhead. I thought Tom said this on Formspring. Maybe as important as "113"? Yep, referencing the initials on the tree. Could be a reference to Greenman and Jeanne... any reason Jeanne might have the nickname Beanhead?

in the book edition it seems to say something like "Spinach + Bownhand" Spinach is obviously a nickname for our green-skinned forest elf guy! and Bownhand can only be Steadman! I know, that doesn't make any sense at all, I'm just trying to be funny... I gotta say, I'd be kinda of disappointed is they ended up being the LGBT characters in the comic.

Possible inspiration for "Beanhead", is there any reason to believe this character might relate to Jeanne? I know it's a stretch.

Although, maybe the fact that boys grow taller then girls later on might fix their height difference in the future :O Ooor maybe he'll stay shorter than her? ;D (I dunno, I don't get why people are so determined to have the guy always be taller in a relationship. Is it a leftover power thing? Because if so, that's got some Unfortunate Implications. Anyway, shorter guys/taller girls are cute.)

I know a lot of girls who refuse to date men shorter than them. I also know a lot of guys who won't date taller girls, but the point is, it's not just men who perpetuate the idea that the man must be the taller.
I'm 6'2", so I don't really understand the pathos of a short man. But, I've noticed that many short men are sensitive about their height. My sister (6' tall) is also sensitive about her height. It could just be that a short man dating a taller woman is constantly reminded of the fact that he's short, while a tall woman dating a shorter man is constantly reminded that she is tall.

Don't know if this was mentioned or not but that last panel, Tom, could *totally* be sold as a print.

Testosterone production plays a role in height, and more testosterone = increased virility = babies. On the flip side, shorter girls have smaller bodies to maintain, and won't need as much food when they get pregnant as a taller woman would. They also probably have more estrogen than tall ladies and will be more likely to conceive. Of course nowadays thanks to modern medicine you can pretty much have a baby no matter what your body type or hormone levels are, but our bodies don't know that. Also dawwww young love. <3

Thought I should say this or it'll stay in my head forever. In my mind, as I was reading this page, I imagined a romantic mix of the "theme" music bust in and it was all "gosh golly 360 view around them" ... Yeah.

Complete with a fade-to-black background and intro of some AC/DC song, a la the end of A Knight's Tale...

Had we seen a S/B before that we didn't understand for lack of meeting the characters yet? I can't remember... Yeah, Page 335, Panel 4. Edit: Also, bottom left-hand corner of 364. It's kinda hard to read online, but in the book edition it seems to say something like "Spinach + Bownhand" Thanks, I was thinking of page 335. Hadn't seen 364 before, which I'll excuse myself for because I don't have the book. Also, I didn't know Tom had specified the names. Though Spinach and Beanhead seems ... random.... Also awesome. I think I would agree that it's as important as 113.
