Just tie a long string to it and then throw. Problem solved.

Guys. GUYS. How many of you actually forgot Kat Donlan's antigravity sled.....which she used to pick Annie up from the ravine floor? Really. And all this catapult talk, when she's already gone way overkill Girl Genius style?

That would be breaking the rules though. Catapulting a rock out would just be bending them.

I forgot. Nobody in this comic ever thinks of the simple solution.

"Hey robot could you take this blinker stone and toss it off the edge of the cliff over there? Thanks. No, the parkour won't be necessary. Just walk."
PROBLEM SOLVING.

Yeah, not really sure why Annie doesn't use her etheric form to walk the stone over to the edge and drop it. Or hell, if she wants to visit the shore, just jump over the edge in etheric form! (Well, I don't know the rules of physics and bodily harm in ether-land, so maybe stick with the first one.)

so maybe touching the stone causes it to blink back. i imagine annie going into etheric form and using one of these to carry the stone over the edge. could someone do a rendition of that? it would make my day. ;D

"Hey robot could you take this blinker stone and toss it off the edge of the cliff over there? Thanks. No, the parkour won't be necessary. Just walk." PROBLEM SOLVING. Robot got in big trouble last time he went off the grounds, so that's why they probably don't want to ask him. Yeah, not really sure why Annie doesn't use her etheric form to walk the stone over to the edge and drop it. Or hell, if she wants to visit the shore, just jump over the edge in etheric form! (Well, I don't know the rules of physics and bodily harm in ether-land, so maybe stick with the first one.) The extent of Annie's ability to physically effect things in either form is still limited. Carrying something too heavy may be beyond her.

The extent of Annie's ability to physically effect things in either form is still limited. Carrying something too heavy may be beyond her. Her extent of abilities to physically effect things depend only by her level of mind training.

Why am I the only one who thinks it might be easier just to tie a string to the blinker stone and throw the stone while holding onto the other end of the string? Everything's gotta be robots this and magic that.

Not only are you not the only one to think that, you're not the first one to propose it in this thread.

edit: yeah, it was mentioned. It was also shot down for being too easy. Since when is the easy solution a bad thing?

i imagine annie going into etheric form and using one of these to carry the stone over the edge. That would work. Kind of conspicuous though. How about setting the stone on something small and innocuous, like a leaf? Then Annie move the leaf. Or they could seek a means to throw it a bit harder and land on the far shore at the bottom. (Basically, Annie needs to go ethereal and start watching before Kat throws the stone.)

So, Katerina spent quite a long time watching Antimony (on her parents' advice?) before she ran up and said "call me Kat"?

*goes back and reads the whole thread* edit: yeah, it was mentioned. It was also shot down for being too easy. Since when is the easy solution a bad thing? Let me tell you my friend, I bring up Occam's Razor a fair amount here, and usually the simplest answer turns out to be the right one (e.g. the discussion thread about what was actually happening, on the page prior to this one) but someone did once point out that speculation about practical, simple solutions isn't nearly as entertaining. So as long as somewhere in there, someone mentions the practical and more likely right solution, then the other speculation doesn't really hurt anything, and it entertains folks. In the end, it's more about having fun than being right.

I like Occam's Razor. It gives me a nice, clean shave and leaves my skin feeling as smooth as a baby's face. Until the razor pimples start popping up.

I can tell. My keen eye tells me you simply used copy and paste from a narrow band of the picture to fill in the right half.

Or they could seek a means to throw it a bit harder and land on the far shore at the bottom. Good idea about throwing to the far side, except that the ravine is far too wide for such a throw -- at least, unassisted. I'd guess that's what Kat's device would be for, although the diagram suggests they are trying for the near shore of the Annan Waters. (Basically, Annie needs to go ethereal and start watching before Kat throws the stone.) I actually assumed that she was doing this already. But if Annie is looking through the stone, then she probably would want to wait until it stops moving. Otherwise, it would be like an etheric carnival ride of motion-sick evilness.

I fail at background replication. I don't care how they get the Blinker Stone to the bottom of the cliff or why they're doing it (it reminds me of a game of tiddlywinks gone horribly wrong, but that can't be it)... however, Chibi Disco Dancing Kat is Made of Win. Good job!

Everything's gotta be robots this and magic that. A solution without magic or robots? I.. I don't understand Do you realize, what distance are between them? I don't understand the context of the question? That would work. Kind of conspicuous though. How about setting the stone on something small and innocuous, like a leaf? Then Annie move the leaf. I was under the impression we were conducting a mental exercise to illustrate the MOST convoluted way of delivering the stone to the shore. Maximum rediculosity for optimal entertainment. as illustrated in the training video below.

Ahaha, nicely played, Mr. Siddell, nicely played indeed! ;D For reference: #6, last panelI was wondering when this callback was gonna happen. I didn't expect it quite so soon after the start of the comic, though

5 years is too soon for a callback?
Does anyone else love how crazy Kat's hair looks in her little (not to scale) diagram? It makes the whole page even more adorable to me!

Funny thing: Over on the forum attached to the TV Tropes Wiki, chibi-Kat from panel 6 has become something of a meme. There's people who haven't even read the comic using her as their forum avatar.
And it seems there was at least one person who started reading the comic because of the meme.
