Awkward for sure, but not for very long, I reckon.

Look how gentle the old wolf is. And not a snarl!

Between this and what he did at the lake, Coyote seems to be trying to form some sort of relationship between those two.
Also, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

Ysengrin loves Coyote very much.

What now? I hope Ysengrin warms up quickly so we get some kind of answers. Coldly pushing her towards the Court would feel sort of unsatisfying.

Annie is stiff-as-a-board terrified when Ysengrin is about to pick her up. I don't blame her. Coyote seems to do everything for the lulz, doesn't he?

I love the way the last panel depicts the speed they are travelling with.

I hoped Annie would have the change to ask some questions about Jeanne. I guess, the lesson has taken so much out of her, all she wants is to go home. Though, I don't think she expected this

The chapter isn't over yet. I wouldn't be surprised if Coyote casually drops some very intriguing information just before parting with Annie, not giving her any chance for further questions.

You can tell he went this fast just to make the awkward situation as short as possible.

Panel 4: not what Annie was expecting. And I'd love to road trip with Coyote, he sets a mean pace.

"Ysengrin, could you please slow down a bit?" "I'm sorry, that's my bad ear." "Could you please slow-" "LA DEE DA I CAN'T HEAR YOU"

It has been mentioned that antimony in alchemy is sometimes symbolized by a wolf. With this in mind it seams likely that Annie and Ysengrin will eventually form some kind of bond.
Maybe Coyote's plan is to have Annie act as a mediator (medium) between Reynardine and Ysengrin to help restoring their relationship.
Likely someone has already speculated this, but in that case I couldn't find it.

It's also true that in the beginning, Rey was pretty hostile towards Annie; so indeed, Ysy will perhaps get nicer as well.

Ysengrin's unflinching loyalty to Coyote is commendable or not so commendable, it's one of those two. Also we need artwork of Ysengrin dignifiedly waving his snout around in the air and going LA DEE DA.

He may be willing to carry her, but it's interesting that Ysengrin's arm is shaking. I wonder whether that's emotion or the effort of holding her weight.

i thought Ysengrin's tree-arms always shake. a side effect of the "imperfect gift". Although when he comes to court with coyote it's not visible so maybe he can control it. Also, 4th and 5th panel, am i the only one who got a hobbits & treebeard flashback? not so much in the 6th one though.

Hmm, I wonder how Eglamore will react when he sees Ysengrin carrying Annie on his arm... Something tells me he won't like it

I wonder what Coyote meant by "don't fall behind". A literal warning to Annie not to fall off Ysengrin's arms?

If Ysengrin is having to move that fast to keep up with Coyote, think how fast Coyote must be going.

I wonder what Coyote meant by "don't fall behind". A literal warning to Annie not to fall off Ysengrin's arms? I'm pretty sure he was talking to Ysengrin. Remember Coyote sped to this place where Reynardine's body is, as seen in this page, with Ysengrin speeding along with him. They're just going back the same way, only Coyote is having Ysengrin carry Annie instead of carrying her himself. And I do think the message that Coyote is trying to convey to Annie here is that this guy, Ysengrin, who was all in your face and angry and such before, will obey my every command without even a trace of resentment on his face. I control him, and you know his big secret/weakness, therefore you have nothing to fear from him. That's my impression anyway.

Look at how much Ys towers over Annie. He's at least three times as tall? If I were Annie I'd find it awkweird too.
Especially in the light of how she saw Ys earlier. Yeah, he still had a head large enough to snap her arm clean off, but she was in a position of strength there. Or at least in the position of a human catching a wounded and trapped animal. Who, in response to kindness snapped out...
I'm going to speculate that Ys and Annie will bond before long.

I fee like if Annie and Ys bond Rey will not be happy about it. Though, there isn't much he can do.
