Oh yeah, that guy! Good times. Goooooood times.
In other news, Kat's mind is thoroughly blown. Oh and something about Tic Tocs.

So questions:
What's Kat looking at in amazement? Something in particular, or just the whole robots-only area in general? (It is pretty huge and impressive after all. Those doors and halls must be so huge in order to accomodate some pretty big robots. Maybe.)
Does Admin-bot wonder where Annie's antennas went?
The question and answer in panel 7 does seem to indirectly confirm that all the court's robots were designed by Diego -other- than the tic-tocs. And did you notice how the responding robot didn't wonder how Annie knew who Diego was?

"Created by a divine being"? Also, they may be older than the court. I guess that rules Anthony out.
Then again, the robots do seem to have a rather elaborate (and not entirely factual, oddly enough) mythology.
But if they were created by an actual divine being, there may be more players here than just Coyote and the Court.

Receptionbot is back! haha, I love that guy. Also, hurrah for more information on the tic-tocs. The fact that they were not made by Diego is pretty big news!

I guess then that the crisis may have something to do with all those "studied" cpus? Perhaps many robots are suffering from severe shediedandwedidnothing-itis?
i like that Tom adds such fun facts about the little mysteries of the court from time to time. Tic tocs continue to remain powerful & mysterious!!

So on the banner we have the tictoc, what appears to be an upside-down Venus symbol but probably isn't, an infinity symbol, a gold symbol and the by now quintessential bismuth symbol. Hmm./

Hmm./ The other symbols are all similar in form, and are probably all alchemical. I don't recall exactly which elements the other two stand for at the moment. ----- edit2: The symbols visible are: Tic-Toc, Antimony, Bismuth, Gold

Those doors and halls must be so huge in order to accomodate some pretty big robots. Maybe.) I dont think she's looking at anything in particular. Man, that was the expression on my face when I walked through the Sistine chapel. And did you notice how the responding robot didn't wonder how Annie knew who Diego was? haha, what a fun catch, there. I like that he just assumes that Diego is common knowledge (perhaps he is!).

Perhaps, but reverence of Jeanne's portrait didn't seem to have any adverse effect on the delivery-bots, nor the ever-awesome Robox. I think you're on the right track, but I don't think it's going to be Jeanne-itis per se.

Maybe they're trying to find the robot that saved Robot's CPU?
That would be amusing.

Robots seem to get confused when activated. An unexplained creator could be seen as divine. Besides, I figure that an actual divinity could make better minions than robotic ones. Also... I'm unsure the Anthony theory of Tictoc making is dead. The current Tictocs may not be the Tictocs of robot myth. Someone could have crafted these surveillance bots in Tictoc form to use the legend as cover.

Do we even have any evidence that Anthony was behind the Tictocs? The only time that they were ever linked together in the comic was Ysengrin's claim that Anthony was behind the "dead" Tictoc, and that came from his misinterpreting Annie's sweater.
Though I suspect that a lot of the reason for the speculation that Anthony made the Tictocs could be our response to his abandoning her; almost all the readers, I suspect, share Kat's view of his actions as inexcusable. We might therefore want to believe that he set up the Tictocs to watch over Annie and protect her while he was away, thus making him seem less cold-hearted than he'd otherwise appear. (I wonder if this might also be the reason for the speculations that Annie's real father was Eglamore or Reynardine - the desire for her to have a better father than someone who would apparently desert her to go off on his wanderings, without a thought for her, not even bothering to write back.)

Diego's portrait is in the chapel with Jeanne's picture, so it should be no surprise to robots that Kat (and her friend) know about him. Plus they may know that future mediums learn about Diego as part of their curriculum.

Is this the first time the tic tocs have been referred to in the comic by that name? I think it is. They've been called that for ages by the rest of us, but no one in Gunnerkrig Court has actually called them that until now.

Does Admin-bot wonder where Annie's antennas went? It's been nearly a year since they met, so I'd assume he completely forgot about Annie, and now he's wondering why this human is waving like she knows him.

Maybe, but I prefer to think that Annie's powers of deception are so great that Adminbot only remembers seeing a robot with a strange design and two antenna. Now that Annie's disguise is off, he has absolutely no idea who she is or how she knows him.

Man, I had no idea that there was speculation that Anthony made the tic-tocs. We really dont know anything about that guy. Like, we dont even know if he swayed court-side or wood-side. He's never spoken in the comic, ever. I mean, I'm really excited and looking forward to hearing more about this mysterious Mr. Carver, but. I just think it's a really odd guess to make.

This doesn't disprove what you said, but as an interesting aside... ¿Dónde está su retrato, señor Diego?
Plus they may know that future mediums learn about Diego as part of their curriculum.
Ah, ok, that's true... Diego himself isn't as big a mystery as Jeanne of course. I'm just not sure how common knowledge it is that Diego made the robots, since the girls didn't learn it themselves until S1.

Diego is a prominent part of Court history, as would be Sir Young. (And Steadman, and the Artilleryman ) I highly doubt this is a secret history, and should probably considered fairly common knowledge and accessible to anyone in the court curious enough to look it up. Just because we didn't learn of it until later in the comic doesn't mean it's this big mystery to the people who live there.

What exactly does "ornithonic" mean? Ornithology is the study of birds. "Ornithonic" appears to be a spin of "Orni" (birds) and "Robotics." Tom makes up words, sometimes. He's good at it. He's a wordsmith.

(clearly that page needs to be updated (partly my job ) At least from what I remember. Also cookies! it looks like it wasn't diego or anthony that created them, but someone yet unknown to us.

Iiiiiiinteresting. So the Tic-Tocs may even predate the Court? Then what was their purpose? Apparently their purpose is to watch over "us all" (whether that means anything sentient or just robots I don't know). Who/what were they watching before the Court existed? There was only the Forest creatures, but they don't allow technology... Of course, it is only "said" that the Tic-Tocs existed before the Court - that may not be true. Sedan Bot has admitted the Tic-Toc is "mythical".
Also: notice how Sedan Bot only refers to "the Tic-Toc, a mythical ornithonic. It was created..." It's all singular, not plural. Perhaps they really are just parts of some kind of hive-mind or network.
Edit: I have only just now realised how overly obsessive and nit-picky that last point is, and people are free to ignore it. In fact they probably should.

You're right, I forgot that he had said the one line. Maaaaaaan, that makes him even more mysterious then before Also, on the GKC wiki page about tic-tocs there is this quote: I had always thought that that had resulted from an etheric property of Gillitie, rather then being a property of the tic-tocs themselves. I sort of assumed that if you bury anything in the grounds of the wood it would start growing. I think of Gillitie as a kind of epitome of nature, and anything within it gets instilled with this power of growth. Do you think if you bury a tic-toc on the grounds of the court it would grow-splosion like that? That, or it's a result of something Our Mr. Yesengrin, with the power of trees, did to it made it grow.

Annie is clearly a disguised robot going about her disguised robot business. What chiparoo said, provided you change orni to ornitho. Actually it's a pet peeve of mine when people split "ornithopter" into "orni" and "thopter" (Magic: the Gathering grumble grumble).
