Regardless of what happens next, I must say I like Annie's reaction.

Ooooooooo another art shift
I have no idea where Coyote is going with this, but I eagerly await listening to his story and insane logic.

I get story whiplash every time Coyote shows up. I should be used to it by now, but I'm not.

Agreed with Annie's reaction: enough of the sideshow theatrics!
...and so... is it me or does hypothetical coyote look a bit like Ysengrin?

Well, this puts Coyote's claim that Gunnerkrigg Court's goal is to "become God" in a whole new perspective.

Well, this puts Coyote's claim that Gunnerkrigg Court's goal is to "become God" in a whole new perspective. Didn't he specifically say that it is Man's attempt to become God? All the more perspective! (Aside: I still have no idea where this is going) (Aside aside: I love the way Tom has found a way to insert a different style of art there as part of Coyote's storytelling. Actually, it reminds me a lot of one of my favourite Order of the Stick jokes, in the bottom row of this strip: www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0339.html)

Ohhh, that coyote is beautiful.
I was not quite expecting this turn but I like how this is going.
Also Annie's reaction is probably the best possible, given the circumstances.

Are we going somewhere to the effect of, I exist because people wanted to explain a phenomenon with no obvious explanation? So he's a figment of collective imagination/legend?

That's where I figured he was going. "I only exist in the head of every human whose caveman brain fears predatory dogs. I'm the meta-dog, the thing people think of when they fear getting eaten. The bogeydog, if you will."

...Guys...if coyote is about to tell Annie that 'Gods need belief bad' in order to be real. Kinda like in the Discworld series...that makes Ether Kat a hell of alot more scary.
Seriously all the robots are treating Kat like a deity, an 'angel' (not helped by Robot with the whole 'and so she gives life she can also take it away' speech) and now Zimmy sees her an a giant metal creature that looks very much like an angel.
I am creeped out by this.

This is starting to remind me of American Gods, a few pages late compared to others. What I'm getting here is that these people on the doorstep of life and death begin to see the stalking coyote as a guardian on the treshold, a being with power over death itself, the most important thing in their world at that moment. And thus we have Coyote, the god, a capricious trickster who makes mockery of everything we hold important in life. The only thing that I'm wondering is why Coyote didn't become a psychopomp with this association. Maybe he was kicked out after fetching the wrong people and leaving the dead to wander the earth? On another note, I wonder if Annie is annoyed with Coyote just playing around with her, or if she's starting to get frightened of what she's hearing. She's no longer saying anything about the village, she just wants to leave. And Coyote looks like he's about to swallow her whole. I bet that would be the most psychedelic experience in the world.

You don't think Annie is going to as much as blink an eye on that? Regardless of what happens next, I must say I like Annie's reaction. It's lovely... Wait, did she learn this one from Jones? It's hard to tell, since she could do "deadpan" perfectly on her own.

I wonder if we'll find that that Tic-Tocs end up being future Kat's attempt at creating life, in the same way that Coyote tried to create life with the Glass-Eyed Men? For that theory to be the case, the the Tic-Tocs would have to have some sort of trans-time dimension ability for us to have already met them -- but that's not outside the realm of sufficiently advanced technology, and etheric technology certainly meets that qualification. Also, pan-dimensional tic-tocs would remind me alot of the Hitchhiker's Guide II bird, which was simply amazing and also very creepy.

Seems we've all come to largely the same conclusion here, regarding what Coyote is hinting at here. Watch us all be dead wrong! Well, this puts Coyote's claim that Gunnerkrigg Court's goal is to "become God" in a whole new perspective. Didn't he specifically say that it is Man's attempt to become God? All the more perspective! So uhm... I wonder if this story will moralize at us. Is man striving to become god a bad thing? Good? Neutral? It'd be awfully convenient for a god to tell other people that they shouldn't want his level of power. Don't want that competition...

Haha! Now this guy knows how to tell a story!
"Thank you for telling me how strong and clever I am. I will now remind you how feeble you humans are compared to even a normal coyote. Haha!"

I presume she did. Coyote said as much, and there was even a 'sun sets/time passing' panel when he said so.

She's a pretty world-wise little girl. I'm sure she can come to terms with the idea that Coyote enjoyed a few human snack-a-roos at some point in his career. ;D She would only be miffed if Coyote didn't dispose of the spirit properly.

Not so sure about the time travel, but considering Zimmy hates the TicTocs and is afraid of Etheric!Kat, they could be linked in some way. (Admittedly, a bit of a stretch.)
