Were they trying to imply that Kat's a lesbian or was it simply her interpretation? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I think Kat's standing up in order to get away from Annie's hands all over her.

I think it's more Reynard toying with Kat to see how she reacts. Whilst it's possible that she's Bi, we have evidence that she likes boys. {edit} Of course, he could be implying that she likes robot. ;-) Even then it's probably just him winding her up. I think Kat's standing up in order to get away from Annie's hands all over her. True. Given what Reynard said she'll probably keep her distance.

Tom if you don't want us to think Kat is a lesbian stop doing things like this. What makes you think thats his aim? It looks like Kat's worries about her sexuality, or at least the perception other people have of her sexuality, is something the comic is actively addressing. I dunno where it's going with it, Kat could ultimately realise she is interested in girls or that she isn't or any number of other things could happen, but Tom's the one who brought the issue up so we can assume he's got a conclusion in mind.

wow, I've no idea where this is going.... But, does anyone else think that Kat's expression in panel 4 is extremely hard to read? Maybe it's because of how subtly her face is turned there, or the way her eyebrows are so ambiguously raised. It's a lot of fun, kind of sad, but also extremely realistic and relatable to see her overreacting like this certainly feels like a real 14 year old! Sometimes I forget that they are as young as they are.

Annie's in a very happy mood this chapter, it seems. She's hugging everyone
What's funny is that by acting like this, Kat's just drawing more attention to it. We don't know if anyone else actually thinks she's a lesbian but it seems she's definitely paranoid that people do. I'm guessing this isn't just teasing the fans but gonna result in some character development. We've seen Kat's problems with the other students before but this is the first time we've really seen her worry about what people think of her.

I want to know what Smitty's thinking about when watching Parley, he's mulling over some plan to help out, maybe using his power, I'm not sure. Either that or he's thinking about how she's hot as hell and putting a lot of effort towards that line of thinking. Mostly I think it's a plan. Also, I love this insecure Kat storyline, I think it's something that resonates with a lot of teenagers as they progress through puberty. Hopefully she'll open up to Annie, that's what your main babe is for

Wait, what's that sound? Oh, right, the rampant speculation engines revving up all over the globe.
And it looks like whoever thought that the whole trying to look girlier with the flower-headband thing might be Kat's response to Paz questioning her sexuality and giving her doubts she's uncomfortable with was right. A cookie for thee.
Also, I have a feeling that panels 2 and 3 actually isn't, at least not primarily, Smitty taking the opportunity to check out his hot girlfriend's moves. I think he's trying to come up with an assessment that might help her out. Of course, those two reasons aren't mutually exclusive.

Ahaha! ;D Oh, Renard, you are real jerk ass!!! ;D ;D ;D Sometimes, of course) P.S.: Kat's reaction is so funny and cute, that I think what this is really good compensation for some action with Parley and Robby on background, that hasn't been shown here. Also: Looks like Annie is a lot of MORE positive now!) I truly like that! Or she is so happy only in this company...

Tom if you don't want us to think Kat is a lesbian stop doing things like this. This argument annoys me. What Tom obviously wants us to think (it's obvious to me anyway) is that Kat is insecure about being perceived as gay. REGARDLESS of whether she is or isn't. Can you tell us what Tom needs to do if he wants us to think that Kat is insecure about the above, but not want us to think that Kat is necessarily gay? If you can't offer such a suggestion, then you aren't really saying "if you don't want us to think Kat is a lesbian" but you are saying "if you don't want us to think that Kat worries about being perceived as gay" Which obviously Tom does want, as she does have her worry about it, so your suggestion becomes silly.

A sudden dramatic reaction... or how to unsuccessfully hide that you have a significant personal issue. Next, she'll claim she has to go to the bathroom and will be right back.

Hmm. Renard has always been a bit pervy. IIRC, he was hoping for some lesbian action between Annie and Kat from more or less the first time he saw them together.

I doubt anyone but Tom knows what he wants. Personally, I'm taking this as some rather unsubtle foreshadowing, cos I think it would be cute. ;D Kat would probably be the only lesbian character I like (if that's what happens ofcourse)

Haha... oh, Kat. I don't know if she's actually gay or not, but she reminds me a lot of me! I was in a similar situation last year, and spent the next few months fervently reminding people about how ENTIRELY 100% HETEROSEXUAL I AM DID I MENTION I LIKE DUDES? ... I totally dig chicks, hurr durr. :s It'll certainly be interesting to see where this goes, either way!

Some observations to put forth here:
Annie is all over everyone. I would say that Jack's reprimand from last chapter has at least something to do with it--she feels that she's been cold and distant for too long, and now she's overcompensating by being all hugs n' smiles.
Renard is either 1) reverting back to his slightly sleazy plush-toy personality, or 2) innocuously commenting on Robot's attraction to Kat, and how he thinks Kat should reciprocate. Either way, there's going to be some frank discussion about something on Monday.
...But Kat almost certainly hasn't talked to Renard about the events of last chapter, and even if she did, I highly doubt that he would be so shallow as to crack a joke about it in front of anyone else.
Also, for ogling his own girlfriend, Smitty is being super serious about it.

Whatever's happening with Kat, she friggin' needs to talk with Annie about it! Hopefully Monday's panel will feature Kat making an awkward excuse to leave, with Annie following after her. Then Wednesday will be back to Parley and Robby fighting, with Friday finally beginning some kind of conversation with Annie. Though given her mood, I could see Annie engaging in some insensitive teasing at first, but then she'll realize that Kat really needs her support.
Or Robby could follow after Kat, which would lead to an even more awkward conversation/encounter!

Also, for ogling his own girlfriend, Smitty is being super serious about it. With a girlfriend like Parley, you take your ogling seriously. To throw my in lot into the Gay!Kat/ Straight!Kat debate, I'm going for straight. Personally I can't see why any characters have decided she's into girls, other than being good friends with Annie. Maybe you have to be there to see it. Kat's reaction in this page is just because she's worried about what people think about her. In other news - Chapter 1 of the Gunnerkrigg Court Fan Project is now fully online at YouTube! Go check it out
