He kinda seems to like being the underdog.
Also; glowing stuff up next. Are we about to see some kind of forest community?

So, Ysengrin knows Coyote has told Annie to follow his orders or else. He and the comment Tom left also suggests that Coyote has done this before. Also, Ysengrin doesn't seem as upset as before. Hell, is he even showing, dare I say it, compassion towards Annie? Maybe he does care for her, but also wants to keep his reputation up. Ah, so that's what happened to his ear... Interesting thought. If it is true, what did Ysengrin do to disobey Coyote?

Ah, so that's what happened to his ear... Hmmmm.... But what Coyote wants from Y'?! And what Y' has done wrong?

Ah, so that's what happened to his ear... I hadn't thought about that... It's kind of sinister, but the third treatise shows the bismuth symbol in the place of his missing ear, suggesting the court had something to do with that.

I like the way the relationship between these two has grown.

I noticed that as well; it may just be due to the angle.

Looks like Y' not so creepy, as he wants to be... I noticed that as well; it may just be due to the angle. Maybe you are right.

I like the way the relationship between these two has grown. Indeed. Maybe they're in the same situation... just playing by the rules until they have the right resource to do [something] about them.

Ah, so that's what happened to his ear... I just logged in to say that! Yeah, that was my first thought too. My second thought was ruder than that and involved asking Ysengrin where his current binding is wrapped around.

My second thought was ruder than that and involved asking Ysengrin where his current binding is wrapped around. Well, his wolf body doesn't show any, but that made me think if he can regrow or replace a wooden limb.

I don't think Ysengrin received the binding. Perhaps there was a previous visitor, or Coyote uses it on the some of the forests less obsequious inhabitants.

Maybe to give the forest people a feeling of safety? I was just about to post that Yesn's recognition of the bracelet suggests a motive for coyote to give it to Annie: to show the forest folk that Annie is under his thumb.

I'm starting to think that Y doesn't like Coyote AT ALL. He's just waiting for the occasion to outsmart him.

I'm starting to think that Y doesn't like Coyote AT ALL. He's just waiting for the occasion to outsmart him. Well, Tom has said that Y loves Coyote. On the other hand, it's possible to dislike a person and still genuinely love them.

I just find that as time goes on, I like Ysengrin more and more. Agreed. When we first saw him (see chapter fourteen), he was seen as a shallow lackey with a chip on his (wooden) shoulder and an agenda against the court, and humans in general. However, in recent chapters (especially chapter 26), Ysengrin is shown as quite a complex character, and probably one of the most mysterious alongside 'Wandering eye' Jones and 'Absent parent' Anthony. He dislike humans, but considering his relationship with Annie, it is not as black and white as previously thought, and Tom has said that Ysengrin has his reasons. I predict and hope that Ysengrin is going to become more important in later chapters, and that his back story is going to be a major plot point and revelation. This is part of the reason why Gunnerkrigg Court is as good as it is. All the characters have a certain depth to them, despite, and maybe because, most of their back stories are only hinted at, making them feel more alive. Edit: Just had a thought. I mentioned above who I think are the most mysterious characters currently (Ysengrin, Anthony and Jones). Just realised all three have featured in this chapter, and have had certain parts of their character revealed. Ysengrin: He seems to at least respect Annie, despite being human, and has also shown compassion. Anthony: That he is emotional about what happened to his wife because of his daughter being born. Jones: The 'Wondering eye' business. Wonder if Tom is trying to tell us something? Or am I looking too deep?

This makes a lot of sense.... AND I could see Coyote doing anything with at least a dozen different reasons behind it.

Who's liking Ysengrin even more for every word he says? He seems alot kinder.
Also, little observation. Both Renard and Ysengrin tried to kill Annie once, but are being nicer to her now. (Renard mostly. Ysengrin is, at least, starting.) But Coyote has always been nice from Annie, even from the start, and look where that has gotten her.

Based only on what I read in the comic, Y's behavior is a little ambivalent.

I actually have a weird theory that Y is going to leave the forest.
Also, is that glowing just sunlight? The trees do block the sky, and it was day in the last page.
