This strip alone is trippier than early 20th century European surrealist and expressionist films put together.
I'm kind of scared to sleep, actually. ._.

So, I am guessing that was the real Zimmy, and she ran away because she was scared? Still angry after their last encounter?

No kidding. Does zimmy forget who she is often?

Several episodes of utterly incomprehensible mind screw are inevitable. Like back in "A Ghost Story".
Until there is one sentence that explains everything, and it all collapses into a single moment of clarity and we curse ourselves for not noticing the obvious meaning.
I love this webcomic.

It looks like Gamma's communicating with Annie telepathically, which we haven't seen her do before. So is this really Annie, or has it switched to Zimmy and she really has forgotten who she is? Or maybe Zimmy and Jack together with the power plant have caused some serious screw-ups in reality?

I also just noticed that Gamma is speaking telepathically. Beat me to it. Which either means that Annie is somehow able to "hear" her, or she isn't hearing anything at all.

I've never been happier to be so confused. And I'm pretty confused right now. So I'm happy!

Perhaps Annie is able to hear Gamma because they both have etheric power. My guess is it's either that, or Zimmy's hallucination is causing it, and Zimmy's condition is much stronger than we thought.
My bet is on the white room indicating that everything in and past chapter 23 has been one big simulation, as training by Jones.

Oh wow, that is disturbing on so many levels!
Looks like Annie entered Zimmingham as soon as she went through the door, only that this time there was sort of a smooth transition (the backround is white, just like we've seen in Dr. Disaster's holographic simulation before it was loaded, also no "blib").
Why is Zimmy running away as soon as she sees Annie? What does she see Annie as? Is Zimmy really Zimmy? Why does Gamma think Annie is Zimmy? How come Gamma can use her telepathy with Annie? Maybe she always could and just never did before, but if so, why? Is Gamma really Gamma? Is Annie really Annie?!
My guess is, Annie isn't really Annie. She's missing her scar. No, something's not right there... Gamma doesn't *gob* her...

Maybe this whole chapter has been one of Zimmy's hallucinations and it's really Zimmy hallucinating she's Annie..or something. Yeah, I've got nothing.

Arh! Annie and Zimmy has been the same person all along! Or... something. I like how the panels are skewed. Adds nicely to the eerie feeling.

Oh god what is going on holy Christ on a cracker.
I think we can all agree that Zimmy needs the biggest hug in the history of hugs. ...Although she would complain about it.

Good thing she has Gamma, then. Anyway, my theory is that the moment we see Zimmy run away from Annie, Annie's concsiousness/memory/something somehow got transferred/copied over to Zimmy's mind, which is how Gamma can talk to her and sees her as Zimmy.

...what?
Did Annie drop some acid before going out on to the roof? It doesn't even look like a proper roof! And where's Jack in all of this?

OK, so maybe this is a fake Gamma. Or maybe this is real Gamma who is confused. Or maybe it's Jack pretending to be Gamma as part of a diabolical scheme. Or maybe it's Zimmy who thinks she's Gamma who thinks Annie is Zimmy thinking she's someone else. Or maybe it's the ever-elusive Delta, who has masterminded the whole scheme from the beginning!
Say, how does Gamma even know what Annie said? I thought she didn't speak English....
Anyway, Annie should say something to her in Polish. That should catch some of the potential impostors, at least.

Looks like Jones was keeping herself and Reynard outside Zimmy's event horizon. Bah. I wanted to see what would happen if she went to Zimmingham. Hopefully Antimony will ask Jones what she is later this chapter.

Is it odd that I'm interpreting this entirely differently from everyone else? Namely, that Annie hasn't gone through the door yet, and Zimmy, listening on the other side, has just become confused and started thinking she was Annie?

Okay, so we're obviously in Zimmingham as of panel 4. This doesn't look like a rooftop.
I'm thinking Zimmy can probably take on different personas within Zimmingham and emulate them - ala fake Kat - but who we're seeing is still Annie.

Whahaha! Another rollercoaster of awesome! Thank you thank you thank you Tom so much!
I think Annie simply doesn't look like Annie anymore. She looks like Zimmy now.. to anyone else but herself. Or just to Gamma. Of course, we're seeing her as Annie because she's the narrator-protagonist point of view and she knows who she is.
Remember, the way Zimmingham works is making things seem they're something they're not. Also, don't forget they're all still on the roof. It just looks like somewhere else now.

Annie's hand ethered into Zimmingham-past before 194. Perhaps Zimmy has returned to this past reality (she's wearing the same clothes she did back then 193. Zimmy sees Annie as a monster-nobody becoming real and has run off to look for Gamma. Gamma is still in semi-sleep mode 468 because Zimmy hasn't woken her up yet. Zimmy will go to the old toy store, Annie must get Gamma to go there. Wild spec: The monster in panels 1 and 2 of 192 is actually Annie, drawn as Zimmy saw her a year and a half ago.

What has me thinking are two things: 1. Neither Gamma or Annie goes * gop* when they touch each other's hands in the last two panels. Conclusion: Both of them are real persons (which, however, might of course appear as someone else than they actually are). 2. So far, Annie always had the cut on her face when entering Zimmingham. It isn't visible now, which might of course just be an oversight on Tom's part, or just not visible because we didn't have a close look at her face yet.

Maybe Jones wasn't entirely honest about her reason for staying behind while Annie went after Jack.

What.
The power plant activating must have released a real blast of Zimmy-ness into the world. I'm not even going to try and guess exactly what's going on here.

Conclusion: Both of them are real persons (which, however, might of course appear as someone else than they actually are). Annie held hands with fake Kat when she was there previously. Only Gamma's touch made her disappear. People who perceive which things are fake in that world appear to be able to make them vanish, while people who can't see what's real do not. The lack of cut is curious, though.

I think Zimmy just doesn't have many changes of clothes. Gamma is wearing different clothes to back then. Not that that means much at the moment. Who knows what's going on? It's moments like this that make me love GKC.

I think it is not Zimmy or Gamma we see, but it's Jack projecting them. Or it's Annie expecting to see them here, so she sees them. What has me thinking are two things: 1. Neither Gamma or Annie goes * gop* when they touch each other's hands in the last two panels. Conclusion: Both of them are real persons (which, however, might of course appear as someone else than they actually are). Kat did not go "gop" when Annie touched her, so it's not sure that Gamma is a real person here.

I seriously doubt that the lack of a scar is an oversight on the part of Tom. The finer details in the comic have always pointed us in the right direction, although these clues aren't often interpreted correctly until all is revealed at the end of a story arc. That being said, there are a lot of possibilities and even more room for wild conjecture. On the one hand, I really don't want this to be one of those "... and it was all a dream!" things and they're all still back on the roof like they were the first time Jack entered Zimmyham, because that would mean that the camping trip, etc. was all part of some elaborate dream concocted by Zimmy. Something tells me that we wouldn't have had laser cows if Annie and the others were all in her head. Laser spiders, perhaps. On the other hand... gah. There are just too many possibilities here, too many directions to go in with wild speculation. It's significant that Annie doesn't have the scar. As far as what (or whose) reality Annie is currently in, I'd posit that we don't even know if this possibly-fake-Gamma is a concoction of Jack's (or his spider hitchhiker) to keep Annie away from his confrontation with Zimmy. Or this could be a simulation intended to prepare Annie for dealing with more insidious etheric beings. Or it could be Zimmyham Ultra, where Zimmy's mind is creating new and creepifying things while running from/dealing with Jack's onslaught. Or Annie could have eaten some bad brussel sprouts and is experiencing the worst bout of food poisoning ever documented. No telling, really. I was really excited about today's post, because I figured we'd get some answers. Tom, you've outdone yourself. Well done
