Flying. Leaping tall buildings in a single bound. Same difference.

Does the school mainframe contain "how to fly" instructions/spells too? I wonder what other magical--sorry, etheric--goodies are stored away in there. "Wednesday: Jack turns Annie into a newt. (She gets better.)"

Flying. Leaping tall buildings in a single bound. Same difference. There was definitely levitation involved. Anyone else see cobwebs in that silvery "wake" he's leaving? Cool, now I want to go and get bitten by an etheric spider from twisted dreamland. Flying is worth psychosis. Observation: His hair is getting messier by the panel, I swear.

Although not very spectacular, this is pretty much what I was expecting (or should I say hoping?) to happen. Not the levitation, though. I guess his Spider has taught Jack a trick or two, too.

Well. This chapter is turning out to be a bit of a shocker, isn't it? And such a strong expression of loyalty from Annie. It's such a contrast with Jack's attitude - for him, Rey and Annie are just tools to be used.
On the plus side, (assuming Annie manages to free Reynardine) such an expression of loyalty may prompt Rey to explain a bit about his past... which might resolve a few questions for us poor readers.

In case anyone still thinks you can predict what Tom has in mind, just realize that less than a week ago, if someone told you Jack could FLY, you'd have died laughing.

In fact, people have been predicting that Annie would be able to fly, since this page here. Jack just figured it out as well.

My theory is that the Court kept blueprints of Kat's anti-grav unit when they dismantled it and Jack found them on the computer. With his tech skills, it wouldn't have been too difficult to put one together.

It doesn't really look like he's jumping. The way his body is sort of slack in the fifth panel makes me think his body is being dragged upwards. Maybe its the ether-spider that's moving him? I don't really go here much, someone's probs already said this

Yeah, it's definitely etheric. Look at the aura.
Also, I understand Annie's reaction entirely, but she just made shit A WHOLE LOT WORSE.
There's nobody who can even ATTEMPT to moderate Jack's behavior now.

He's got the squigglies around him that indicate etheric-stuff-happening, so it couldn't be Kat's tech.
Tom did say Annie could learn to levitate with enough practice, right? If the spider's energy lets Jack fly, it's obviously pretty powerful. And it's growing.

This is... a bit more overt than I'm used to seeing from Tom. Jack can warp reality around him, has mad tech skills, and also can fly. Well, at least he didn't swing out the window on webs shot out from his wrists.
Though now I wonder if Zimmy can fly as well. It would provide some interesting scenarios. I am , of course, referring to the obvious Mary Poppins pastiche.
EDIT: Also, I probably should have pointed this out first, as it's important, but... Jack got REJECTED!

Even then, Jack can probably only do this stuff because of the little etheric parasite which is driving him mad. He's getting powerful, yes, but it's definitely not a good thing.

That link made me wonder: Does moving things with an etheric presence (the colorful flower, as opposed to the gray raft) really require that much more power? If it does, the spider must be seriously powerful to move Jack.

So given that Jack can fly, and could get into and out of the Power Station at will whenever he wanted, then mustn't his entire purpose in bringing out Annie and Rey have been to set them (or at least Rey) to be the fall guy; to trap him at the station so that he could run amok looking for Zimmy?
I see two possible scenarios here: One, he turns on the Power Station to try to draw out Zimmy, and brings Annie and Rey along to take the blame if the authorities come, using them to delay the authorities while he flies around looking for Zimmy.
Two, he turns on the Power Station with them present for no other reason than to draw the authorities to this location, trap Rey there and get him blamed, to free him up to go look for Zimmy. The only difference is whether turning on the Power Station was half plan half ruse, or just all ruse.
In either case though, someone pointed out that as long as Rey was bound like he is, he wouldn't be able to explain himself to the authorities. But Annie can. So isn't Jack just shooting a huge hole in his plan by leaving Annie there? He must really think that the authorities aren't going to believe Annie. If I were the authorities, and I had been looking all over for Jack, and then this happens and Rey got trapped by some mysterious things on the wall and Annie told me "Jack did it and he got away", I would believe her.

There is little doubt that Jack can only do this stuff due to the little parasite. It's been brought up that Jack probably was etherically gifted before Zimmingham, but somehow I doubt that the sneaky, tech-savvy explorer guy has also been able to fly around of his own volition all his life. Also, my first sentence there probably sounded whiny. However, the reaction I got from it is probably what was intended, as having a bunch of magical powers that are subtle or just implied makes stuff that's supposed to be out-and-out weird all the more convincing.

Scenario Three:
Jack intended to use Reynardine as a decoy all along.
However, Jack really did think that Annie would come with him after trapping Reynardine. He really thought he had her figured out.
Annie sure blew a giant hole in THAT.
Now Jack's not thinking about anything other than getting away from Annie as fast as he can, and finding Zimmy right the hell now.
Also, he activated the Power Station both to draw out Zimmy AND draw the authorities to the location. 2 birds, etc.

That's not option 3, that's option 2 that I said.
And my point was that since Annie can spoil said plan to get Rey blamed, and put the authorities right back on Jack's trail, I'm surprised that he didn't force her to come with him (grab her and take off) or otherwise... incapacitate her from blabbing, like he did Rey.

Eh, whatever.
Annie isn't a body-snatching demon or Robot, so I doubt he'd incapacitate her. Jack doesn't seem to be that far around the bend yet, though he just took a big step in that direction.
I stand by the idea that Jack didn't even consider the possibility of how that conversation with Annie just unfolded. The best-laid plans backfire when you don't consider all the possibilities, and the only one he seems to have considered is Annie coming with him.
The way Jack's acting now, it's like a petulant child to whom the idea of being told "NO!" is unthinkable.
They're both going to regret what transpired here, though for (obviously) different reasons.

Holy fuck. Seriously, what the fuck? I'm so totally saddened, and completely intrigued. He seems kinda hurt too? Jack is like... seriously becoming one of my favorite characters. He's so confusing, and interesting. Also, made this side by side for the wiki.
