Oh he is a grouch. But he is not stupid and he not only loves Coyote very much, but should also know him very well by now.

Once again Tom writes in characters with surprising depth.
Additionally, awwwwwwww.

Looks like he's finally starting to be not completely aggressive towards her (which is a big step for him!).
Awwwww.

It's makes you wonder why Ysengrin is still accepting Coyote's pranks. My guess is he just really liked that compliment a few pages earlier.

Wow. I really like how Annie is drawn in panel 2. There's hoping Tom's art is heading in that direction.

Am I the only one that wants to ride on Ysengrin so that I can cuddle into his fur? Like seriously... that looks so wonderfully soft and comfortable.

Annie appears to have grown up a lot from this experience, judging by the way Tom has drawn her face. A young woman, not a child.

My guess is he just really liked that compliment a few pages earlier. Probably. I can't imagine that an emaciated tree-wolf gets called beautiful very often.

I think she just looks older cause she's squinting her eyes, bur kinda besides the point. Now I'm a bit rusty at this, but I'll do my part. *ahem* D'AAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWW *pant* *wheeze*... My duty is done.

Also, this goes once again to demonstrate than Ysengrin is much smarter and more observant than he lets appear.
Ninja-edit: and for some reason, of all things, this page reminds me of Princess Mononoke; I think that's the distinctive thing in Tom's work that sets him appart from the usual Tim-Burton-Gothic and steam-punk kind of stories, something more Miyazaki-like…

So poignant, this page. GC is the only webcomic that matters.

Now she's accepted into the pack. Told ye. ;D So poignant, this page. GC is the only webcomic that matters. At least, one of two if we count only still running ones. But still. Also, the art evolution continues.

So Ysengrin has a personality beyond GRRRRRRRAAARRRGGGGHHHH . And it looks like he's not quite as blindly infatuated with Coyote as he seems.

Narrator: When they beheld the mighty Ape Mountain, the reacted with awe. Group: Awwww... Narrator: I said, "Awe." A-W-E. Group: Ooh... Narrator: That's better.
Awwww for the scene and awe for the art, very well done.
I think that Ysengrin is as strongly devoted to Coyote as he seems. However, that doesn't mean he thinks Coyote is looking out for his best interests. Something like a mix between selling your soul and battered person syndrome. He might know it isn't the best deal but he accepts it for the gifts he was given.

It never struck me that he actually loved Coyote, it struck me that he knew he should be grateful for the gift and, to honour his host, he expressed gratitude. EDIT: Forgot the d'awwww.
