Looks like it's time for a little history lesson.

Well... that's not a conspicuous door.

My guesses about what's on this page:
- Little Matadorbot, who is dressed as a bullfighter, is related to the S1, since it acted like one.
-...Or Diego was Spanish and a fan of bullfighting, so the designs of the robots most important to him were based on them.
- What is now the robot's part of the Court used to be the area dedicated to Diego's work and has been completely refurbished, except for that door and room.
- Not really a guess, but I'm curious about what happened to its right foot.
I'm sorry if this seems badly written, but it's over 3AM on a school night over here and my brain stops working at around 2.

Is anybody else imagining KingBot with the voice of Tim Curry?

Is anybody else imagining KingBot with the voice of Tim Curry? No, but then no matter how many other movies I see him in, he's always Frank to me. Imagining Kingbot that way is funny but odd to me. For myself, I'd kind of imagined the voice sounding the same way I'd imagine the King of All Cosmos sounding. I'm having trouble coming up with a description that would make it clear.

Is anybody else imagining KingBot with the voice of Tim Curry? Actually I'm imagining kingbot with the voice of Achmed the dead terrorist.

I wonder what that little guy was built for. Has a nice jacket though.

Yeah, he definitely looks a bit like a webcam.
With a matador suit and elf shoes.

I'm guessing that the little gold robot represents Jeanne.

Any reason you think it represents Jeanne? I think more of Diego when I see it, since personally, I don't think it looks very feminine.

Is anybody else imagining KingBot with the voice of Tim Curry? I mentioned in an earlier thread that since KingBot's arrival reminded me of the scene in 'The Cat Returns' I was imagining his voice as Tim Curry's.

Any reason you think it represents Jeanne? I think more of Diego when I see it, since personally, I don't think it looks very feminine. It doesn't look much like Diego. Besides Deigo is matched with the Seraph model. It's thin waist/stomach makes it look a little feminine, although the broad shoulders suggest a male. The fact that it's a one of a kind golden embroidery suggests that it was someone Diego thought highly of, and Jeanne fits the bill.

Personal representations aside, what does it really do? Returning to personal representations; Perhaps one of the others? The Artilleryman? Steadman the Archer?Added note: It also has nice shoes.

Personal representations aside, what does it really do? Claw people's eyes out when they lean in for a closer look.

My instant reaction was that is was Jeanne, same with my boyfriend (who was reading over my shoulder). It has been hinted that she didn't like wearing fancy dresses, and I could totally imagine Jeanne practising her swordfighting dressed in something like that.
However you never know with Gunnerkrigg Court.

We're all talking about the robot in the last panel, yes?
Because there's really little feminine about it.

We're all talking about the robot in the last panel, yes? Because there's really little feminine about it. Agreed. I believe it is inspired by the traditional dress of Spanish matadors. Note the shoulder plates, short legs on the pants, and vest-like trimmings around the chest. And as we all know, matadors were very manly men. The word "matador" even means "killer". When killing wild beasts is in your job title, there's really no question about how masculine you are.

A prototype for the Seraph model perhaps? Certainly some variation of the Seraph model anyway.

That'd make sense to me - KingBot's phrasing "with a memory intact" would seem awkward (I would have thought he'd have said something like "with any memories intact") unless he was talking about something very singular - like a photograph perhaps?

I betcha he has an original memory chip in him - like the one that Robot has which Kat could not identify - and I further betcha that this little camcorder bot actually saw (and recorded for posterity) what really happened with Jeanne (she died and we did nothing) and Diego.

Is that a relative of KingBot in the background of panel 3?
