I prefer the theory in one of the page Comments that it resembled the white badge/pin/whatever that Zimmy always has on her tops. Personally I think it's just a vestigial decoration, like the skull on Black Widows, but this is Tom we're talking about here, anything could be important.

Come to think of it, I bet that has something to do with the little circle Zimmy always has on her shirt. Tom mentioned somewhere that the circle is important, but he didn't say why... Edit: Once again, I have been ninja'd. Curses!

Looks like Annie is about to be blinked into Jack's head and then she will get a glimpse of what Jack is seeing; probably a mix of Zimcity and of the real world that leaves him guessing at what's real and what's not much like Zimmy.

I think this is the first page that I'm really scared by.
Annie's look of abject terror and Jack's spiderwebs were unsettling enough, but then someone had to go and point out that Jack has a double outline. And I just noticed it said BLINK at the bottom.
Oh man, this is going to go really badly.

This is one of the things I love about Tom's comics, you can never quite tell what i going to happen from one page to the next.
From the looks of things, Jack's etheric radio is a little out of frequency. maybe Annie can fix that.

So, now both cool art and weird stuff. Interpretations of what exactly is happening in the last panel (last third?) should be verry interesting. "Warning: little paranoics' brains contains ghost spiders." Also, handling thought-amplifying artifacts in such a state perhaps isn't the best idea. Even worse than stimulants. There is a silhuette of Jack behind Jack. Is he, like, detatched from himself? Like a part of him still being stuck in Zimcity? IMO, when Zimmy leaves Zimcity, the server is offline, that's why they all exit at once. What exactly did Jack do in the last panel? Saw nothing after he detected some movement and turned. And as such, probably started to quietly go nuts panic. Whether he also shifts into spirit-travel mode or just exudes phantoms, that is the question. I wonder what Reynardine thinks about the blinker stone and its disappearance? It'd be kind of...I can't really think of the word at the moment... "Opportunity"? I'd also suggest calling in Jones. Anja may be a mage of some sort, but Jones seems more likely to know whatever there is to know about Zimmy, and how her world may have affected Jack. Probably, but it's not easy to make her say anything useful on a subject unless she really wants to talk about it. She'd just cut it down with "however irrelevant" or something. Also, she's incompatible with blinkers. Interestingly, that's Annie's Right hand in the last image. That means that the bottom left glance is not fleeting, as in order for her to grab with her right hand, she has to be effectively in front of jack, not grabbing the stone from behind. Jack must be staring right at her He already looks round. Or maybe she just didn't wanted to scare him out of his mind (or its remnants, anyway). since he's gray it's possible he doesn't see her. That would be spooky from Jack's point of view. But then, he noticed something even when she was out of his sight. He's apparently one of creatures who don't peek into that world, but lives in it. Which leads to the question: did Rey perceive anything from Jack besides the visible during his encounter with him? Interesting question. Guy did snapped, but on the other hand, he haven't a blinker in hand. Annie's look of abject terror and Jack's spiderwebs were unsettling enough I'd not call it "abject terror", more of mild freak-out: "Eek! What the hell with you, lad?" P.S. also, M A's Master of Puppets album sounds strangely appropriate for this strip.

My impression of the 'blink' at the end was that Annie grabbed the stone and cut off all contact, probably because she was a little freaked out.

I just woke up, so I only have two things to say at this time. One, I wonder what Reynardine thinks about the blinker stone and its disappearance? It'd be kind of...I can't really think of the word at the moment... I say Reynardine will be astounded, then he'll be worried sick of Annie. Who knows, he might take it upon himself to just bound over to the camping grounds -- unless Annie gave strict order for him to stay in her room.

Now in the comic, someone would probably argue that the spider is actually on his face, but if you look at the all the white lines as one image (the etheric one), it would be positioned squarely in the middle of his head. He's got a serious possession problem going on. This. The spider's not on his forehead, it's right in the middle, we can just see it through his features. Also: "You don't sleep?" "Never." Now Jack doesn't either. I wonder if this little spider is called Patience, and MoneySpider wants her back. God damn but I wish I was half as talented an artist/storyteller as Tom.

The jaggedness is reminiscent of Jack's hair, you see.

Couple things.
One, I'm willing to bet that Annie explained to Rey before she recalled her stone that she needed it for fire, and they said their goodbyes and whatnot. Her blinking the stone to her was offscreen... she didn't do it in an instant.
Two. What's this people keep saying about a person named Patience? MoneySpider just said "I've lost my patience"... that's a common enough expression... and I don't see anywhere where it's said that those statements were canon anyway. Plus I think we already determined that Jack's spider isn't a money spider. Let's not let Wild Speculation creep outside its thread.
Three, a minor point. Don't make too much significance over the fact that Annie picked up her stone with her right hand. Artists use different hands for things all the time depending on what would look best in the frame... this has been covered before specifically in the discussion of this comic. Again I have to say this is a case of people reading way too much into things.

From another thread: On another note regarding [73], why the hell does the poster above them say "Danger, insect"? Maybe it's danger -to- insects.

The patience-as-a-person thing is a neat idea, but the MoneySpider properly capitalizes Zimmy in its comments, and doesn't capitalize Patience, which you would expect of a person's name.
I'd also note that this is pretty much the last place one would want to deal with a supernatural threat of some kind. The teachers who know about how that stuff works are all far away; instead, there are laser cows that can't detect that kind of weirdness, Bob, about whom we know virtually nothing, and Eglamore, who is probably the most qualified to deal with a physical threat but isn't the first person I'd pick to deal with invisible creepy-crawlies. And everyone is in a bunch of tents which lack things like lockable doors.

I wouldn't say that Eglamore is the least qualified to deal with a supernatural threat, afterall, almost all supernatural entities require a physical aspect to actually interact with the physical world(this is the reason why I think Moneyspider has acquired Jack as a host/snack). Also, remember the glowy sword that Eglamore threw at Robot aways back? It's just a hunch, but I have a feeling that that sword doesn't just cut physical things. BING!!!! I just had a thought! Perhaps Gamma is the Patience that Moneyspider wants! What triggered this idea is what those men said right here: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=193They said that Gamma would be safe there, of course insinuating that she was in danger. Hence the random connection that Moneyspider is after Gamma. I know, its all crazy speculation, but hey, crazy speculation is fun.

No, she can't ask Reynardine for help, because she has the blinker stone now, but she also still (presumably) has the breaky-stick thingy that Eglamore gave her before she went into the forest to meet Coyote, no?

Has it, yes, Tom said she's kept it. But whether she brought along for the camping trip, that's a different question, and we don't know the answer.

It suddenly occurred to me on pondering the potentials of this page: what if that's not Annie's hand? We only assume it is since we see just the two of them together. It appears female, being slightly smaller and more delicate than Jack's hand. But what if it's not hers?
