Well, I thought we had decided that it was Diego doesn't like Young. Given our "homework", I bet we're right.

Good point. I wonder how old the laser cows are.

Orjack? Does it refer to a Rogat Orjak?

I would imagine the laser cows are simply a modern ("simplified") version of the originals that Diego created, like all of the court robots seem to have "descended" from the originals found in the cavern under Kat's lab... It would also seem that Young was the first dragon slayer of the court. I wonder what Eggers knows about the conflict between Young and Diego-- if, in fact, it was really a conflict... As Azeltir noted, it appears that Diego didn't care much for Young. Could ol' Eggers know Young's side of the story? [Edit-- Ok, DUH! it was spelled out that Young was the first protector of the Court, a role that has been passed down to Eglamore here... ]

I'm fairly certain that Eglamore knows nothing of the conflict between Young and Diego, since the conflict was over Jeanne, and no one--not even Jones, who knew the history of the forming of the Court--knew who Jeanne was. Simply the fact alone that Eglamore doesn't know why the cows don't trim around Young's plaque is indication enough that no one ever knew of Diego's hatred of Young. It's even possible that Young himself didn't know, we have to speculate.

I love the little clues Siddell is leaving about what happened in the past instead of telling us outright. Also, I'm loving how there are three parallel stories unraveling at once! I'm also loving the laser cows. Go figure.

Off topic: I'm becoming more and more convinced that Bob is Eglamore's father. Or maybe they just look a bit similar and it means nothing.

A-ha, confirmation that Young had an Orjak companion as well. Maybe we'll be finding out more about how that works.

Hnokki totally nailed that one: The cows don't like whatever "that thing" is. Diego didn't like Young. Diego built the court robots. Therefore, "that thing" MUST be Young related!
Orja ck? Does it refer to a Rogat Orjak? Tom admitted that he spelt Orjak wrong.
BTW the comic did not show in the Main page. I have to use the Archives page to see it. Anyone having the same problem with me? .

I forgot who said it but, whoever it was that came up with the "If robots => Diego; Diego => hates Young; If lasercows !laser that thing => probably Young related" line of logic hit the nail right on the head! Good call on that. You know, I'm curious now. There seems to be a strange Eastern European theme going on here. The Orjaks, Gamma, Annie and Eggles knowing bits of polish. I wonder if this thread leads anywhere. I do like the idea of Egg going out to the park and tending to the monument on the odd weekend

story #1 is of course the Annie-Jack-Kat thing. #2 is then the larger camp story involving Bob, Eggers et al. #3 is the Young-Diego relationship.

I don't know if anyone thought of this but maybe the monument is free of pigeon poop because the pigeons refuse to poop on it
This goes back to a very old story involving a pigeon

Nah, the real reason is more pedestrian. Lasers have a bad effect on the concrete the monument's made of, and the cows have a built-in safety radius.

Per that is a stunning observation you are truly a great thinker of our time
edit!
Although perhaps the robot cows have allergies that require them to avoid whatever bush covers the monument.
Maybe we are wrong about Diego's anger towards Young, and the robots leave it be out of respect? I wonder how you program robots to hate someone.

Well, I thought we had decided that it was Diego doesn't like Young. Given our "homework", I bet we're right. It seems to be the most plausible version. Though of course, this being GC... maybe the monument is free of pigeon poop because the pigeons refuse to poop on it This goes back to a very old story involving a pigeon ...Chekhov's gun can turn out to be a contour-chasing missile. BTW, if Nevihta died first, it's a possible reason why that Jack built a house Young made the park (the Court being amid a big forest and all that): specifically to honor his big winged friend. the fact alone that Eglamore doesn't know why the cows don't trim around Young's plaque is indication enough that no one ever knew of Diego's hatred of Young. Good point, this once again confirms that by now even people who should know more about the Court's origins got barely more than few inspiring legends. It's even possible that Young himself didn't know, we have to speculate. It's possible, but only if Diego was even more secretive then as he appears now ("secret basement" vs. "forgotten basement"), and managed to completely hide at least his crush first and full-grown obsession later. Or if it was not obvious he's going to blame Young. Why? "cayenne pepper, mustard seed"... The use of irritants is a cheat. Isn't the brew of ol' good Acorus calamus root quite enough?.. Two ladles per cup, undiluted. Works better than pinching: you just instantly know this taste isn't a product of an imagination. It cannot be.

Kudzu are like the botanical version of the Hydra, every time you cut a bit off, it just grows back. And it wouldn't well be a normal Kudzu, it'd be a space Kudzu from space.
