Dunno but my guess would be it's some sort of probe that might shed light on what's going on with Robot. It could also be a scribe or scalpel that she's using to take a sample of the surface or see if she can find an access point, or a vibro-pen to see if she can mark the surface to test hardness, or a soldering iron to test heat resistance.

You know, it just occurred to me that the last time we saw Antimony she wasn't panicking and manifesting her fire. It wouldn't surprise me to learn in the next few updates that she tried to follow Omega and Anthony and was defeated by some sort of security (be it head-crabbed robots or something else).

Well, at least Antimony is now going to ask an adult for help with something.

I must confess that seeing Paz again (if that was Kat's last thought) would be a nice catch up (she's only been gone about a week in comic time).

No consideration for clothes is a thing with Annie. At least she's got enough consideration to shff clothes (unless that's Rey's doing, who now does stirling work ensuring that this isn't that kind of comic.)

Antimony didn't monologue that she was going to transport Kat so I think technically not, only two of three criteria met, at least so far. The most important two criteria have been met, though.

Maybe it's more a combination of location and person. Teleporting to places Annie had been was easy because there was no focus on finding anyone there.

Omega wanted to go to Tony and Annie was able to the first time because she remembered her father at home. It also worked with Kat, because Kat is very often working in her lab. Kat would be able to do the same with her dad, but Annie has no scope for the secret places that Tony had been and cannot place him there.

Much as I love Timey Wimey shenanigans I am pretty sure this is just because Omega said you can travel by using people/places you remember.

Hopefully, "Remember your father" is like "Don't think of an elephant," which is supposed to force you to think about elephants. Otherwise they're making an unscheduled trip to Spain. Or Holodeck Distortion Spain.

(Also, she repeats the word "Father" - "Kat! Your Father! Remember Your Father!" - reinforcing the message.)


But that is a smart idea. Mr. Kat's Father probably would know about some secret places, and so Annie is probably thinking they can use him for a GPS Device.

After Kat's musings about how she has no idea what to do with the organic-ized technology like the SeedPUs and Robopillar, she's now examining Robot as Shadow looks on, perhaps just seeing if there's anything she can discover.

When suddenly! A singed-looking Annie and a dizzy-looking Renard pop in with a SHFF sound effect. There's a considerable amount of fire surrounding Annie, but there doesn't seem to be any around Renard, causing me to guess that however they've gotten here, she used her fire-based Ether powers to do it. Kat and Shadow, startled, turn to look at them. Annie urges Kat to remember her father, but Kat only has a chance to stammer out a few confused syllables before vanishing along with Annie and Renard. Shadow and Robot are left alone (well presumably the Seraphs are around) wondering what just happened.

I think there are enough clues here to work out at least approximately what just happened. Annie's clothes are singed, and she's got quite a lot of flame around herself when she first appears, then it reduces a bit in the next frame, until in the frame after that there's no visible flame. She says "remember your father," not "think of your father." My speculation: immediately after Omega kidnapped Tony, Annie tried to think about Tony and travel to him, but something went wrong with that; she didn't go to the right place. But then she had the idea to talk to Kat's dad, because Don knows a lot about secret Court stuff too and was Tony's roommate and friend constantly growing up. Maybe he could find Tony. So she tried to get to Don, and something went wrong, something that required her to shift into full fire form to fight or survive. Then she decided that she needed Kat in order to help her fix this.

I can think of two ways this might have happened. First, Annie just couldn't get to Don and ended up in a bad place instead, because her connection to Don isn't as strong as Kat's. Or, second, perhaps Don's in a place that's not very nice (Omega's assurances that everybody's happier because of the distortion were biased and are probably more like "more people are happier than are unhappier"). But Annie came up with a plan and went to get Kat to visit a memory she has of her father (hence "remember your father," not "think of your father") so she can maybe talk to a past version of Don instead. That makes me worry about Don's present well-being.

Tom's comment is "Just a shff," referring to the sound effect that occurs when Annie appears and disappears on this page. This is distinct from the BWIP effect when Omega travels. My guess is that Omega's travel is a bit "cleaner" owing to the fact that her etheric talent is information-based. Since Annie's is fire-based, there are some fire- or heat-based side effects when she pops around.

Hmmm. If that was really Annie, she probably went through the ether to get there. Which doesn't in any way imply that it immediately follows what she was doing the last time we saw her.

I wonder if we're going to see her pop in a few times, a la "Bad Wolf"? It even seems almost appropriate, with Renard along for the ride!

As for timey wimey stuff... Maybe so. If that's the case, she probably popped in too early this time, before whatever happened that made Kat forget her father.

I'm going to guess that after we last saw her, and Omega and her dad poited out, she probably went looking for Zimmy. What she found, who knows?

This is what I was reminded of too. Given that we already saw Annie travel to an episode in her past once before, I'm pretty sure we're intended to conclude that she just flashed back to the moss ogre fight. This would also explain Renard's swirly-eyes (the forest is very etherically "bright" and he got dazzled.)
