This page is kind of lowkey one of the most unsettling ones of the comic I think. Between the context of when it's being posted, her expression, and the level of shading it just has this really uncanny feel to it.

If the comic is slowly coming to a close, as some fans are theorizing, I do wonder if Lana's death might be the first permanent one in the comic. Up until now, aside from Surma, no one has ever died for good. Some have come close or been reincarnated into new forms like the death faeries but there's never been a character that completely remained dead once they were introduced as first being alive. Heck, even Mort got a second chance at life as a ghost after his untimely death as a boy. If Lana is really dead, this could signify that some serious and permanent changes are coming for everyone.

I'm very strongly reminded of the maze that Jeanne's lover was trapped in, under the river.

Hell is being trapped in the dark, alone. Forever.
I wonder if this is where the Robo Afterlife sees its beginning.
I half-remember lines from Anne Rice's Memnoch: The Devil in which the titular debbil is cast into a proto-underworld, which then begins to form itself around him.

Wild Spec: the True Ysengrin and Lana are both trapped in conceptual prisons inside Coyote and will mount a jailbreak. A much more Ysgenrin-esque Jerrek will emerge and he and Lana will full in love all over again. This time she's falling in love with the true Ys. It'll also mirror the 'lovers escaping a magical jail' of Jeanne and Elfboy.
Wild Spec 2: Time inside Coyote is weird so for Lana it'll have felt like years, very possibly much much longer.

“What’s going on? Huh. Is this a disused janitor supplies closet or something? Sitting in a spooky slightly moldy concrete box beats being digested, at least. Wait. Is this going to be my afterlife as a former robot?..” This page is kind of lowkey one of the most unsettling ones of the comic I think. Between the context of when it's being posted, her expression, and the level of shading it just has this really uncanny feel to it. And one of the most hilarious, too.

I don't get why you don't consider Mort a permanent death, the fact that he was introduced to us as a ghost hardly matters.

Unseen, on the opposite side of the frame, is an arm curl bench and a crude picture of Jerrek.
At least Lana is retrievable... maybe. Rey has the Tooth, right? It might have a Coyote memory, that says if this is a plan or elaborate prank. I was thinking Jerrek might grab the Tooth, to cut Lana out. Though, in Zimmingham who knows how it will manifest. How would the abstraction of the Tooth crystalize?

Yeah, I also find the image really frightening. This page made me understand what "uncanny valley" really means. Definitely the first page in the comic that I find hard to look at since page 2286 (albeit for very different reasons).
I honestly feel like this page could be the image when you look up "creepy doll". On the plus side, I dig how detailed it is. The regular art style makes it a bit difficult to recognize which parts of the NP bodies still are recognizably artificial.

Well, that's grim.
I'll actually be disappointed at this point if Lana is somehow alive. Her sudden, brutal death was sort of poetic. After all, that's life.

So something that for me makes for an ominous composition...
Zimmy is mixed in with Loup and Coyote.
Zimmy who said she'd killed everyone in the world if Gamma asked back in Power Station. (And apparently that had been a "big one" with it pulling in other people. Never say that Coyote can't find a way to make a bad situation worse)
That doll like posing makes me think Lana is gone and Coyote is about to play Loup like a kuzoo.

We see Lana, the top of her track suit removed to reveal her tank top, sitting down on the floor of a small room or alcove, looking happily up at the viewer. Does this mean Lana is alive somewhere? My thought is that her appearance is very similar to her appearance here, and the background is similar to that abandoned apartment that she and Jerrek were sharing. This looks like a flashback, or even a memory in Loup/Jerrek's mind. But why place this here? One possibility: Lana is dead, and this is a final tribute to her, the last time Tom's going to draw her – or perhaps it's a character study he drew earlier on and decided to publish online here. Another possibility: whether she's alive or dead, Loup/Jerrek's memory of her is going to drive what happens in the next chapter in some measure, and this is a foreshadowing of that. Yet another possibility: this is where Lana is right now, possibly frozen in time, Coyote having simply moved her piece off the board with the intention of using her to further manipulate Loup later. Or maybe other things I'm not thinking of.

If Lana were a robot or a golem rather than a NP, I wouldn't be nearly as worried, because those are just suspended (effectively dead) while powered down. But we don't really know whether New People are alive. Disturbing image regardless.
My bid for a future cookie: I predict the Lana we're seeing is in a toy box in the toy store and will be found there. Eventually.
