Ugh, one goofy word choice and y'all going on about misconceptions or whatever. I meant more that Lana should look like an articulated meat puppet to him but he apparently recognizes her as, like, a normal living creature. And isn't all "heck is this meat golem" or otherwise baffled by whatever manner of robo-soul she's got going on in ether-vision. Presumably he can literally see her (although honestly I got questions about whether he's another projection and what what even means, like is he just predicting the right responses or whatev) but yes alright it weren't worded good. I know he can see and interact with Jones, but he's had literally the entire existence of the earth to figure out her deal. Contrast to Lana who is, strictly speaking, a computer chip in a meat suit. Something iirc he shouldn't have ever seen before and therefore it's interesting he's just like "ah yes I shall converse with this inanimate object". It wasn't the word choice, I can barely spell and rarely use words gud, it's that "Coyote can't see or properly understand technology/non etheric things" is a theory/postion that has been presented more then a few times. Also your follow up post still seems to imply all non etheric things look like objects/similar to him, as opposed to him being able to identify the difference between a robot, a toaster and a living thing with no connection to the ether, and understand the relative intelligence of each.

For the first time since the creation of this image, I am actually worried for Lana now. Unamused Coyote can be... volatile.

For added chaos, who is the third person contributing to the '...' bubble in panel 1? Well, it's clearly not pointing to Lana, the angle's all wrong. Obviously, it's actually Becky Ground, who happens to be using an invisibility device.

For the first time since the creation of this image, I am actually worried for Lana now. Unamused Coyote can be... volatile. To mangle a quote from Jan's dad, I wonder how many people in the GCU have seen that panel 6 Coyote face and lived to tell the tale. Coyote is now starting the process of identifying what went wrong with the plan he worked on for decades, how serious the problem is, and if he can solve the problem (or at least not make things worse) by eating the problem... who has just walked up to him with a smile on her face. The Diegoish elegance of the plan is toast and Coyote came off looking like a dingus after revealing most of his remaining cards... Fortunately for Lana, I don't think things are off-track enough for the plan to actually fail without something else happening. It'll just take longer as the relationship between Lana and Jeroop sours. Killing her right now would just make things worse for Coyote so she's probably physically safe... as long as she doesn't do/say anything that will make Coyote eat her instantly without thinking things through, of course. Coyote will, however, try to figure out something to say that will safeguard the remains of his plan and it will probably be mean...

This is one of my favorite pages in a long time. Coyote's pompous, puffed-up, know-it-all body language in the first panel, the "oy vey" looks Jerroup and Annie are exchanging in the second, the expression on his face in panel six, and Lana's chipper expressions all combined just make this all deliciously funny!
Coyote's moods often change on a dime, so I just hope he goes more for "amused at the idea he doesn't know everything after all and was actually surprised by something for the first time in forever" as opposed to "enraged a plan he's had in the works for decades just got ruined by a New Person and now he must punish the one he blames for it". I'll be very sad if he tries to obliterate Lana. I have a real fondness for her.

The New People eat food. That implies that they have a metabolism. And I would see metabolism and life as being the same thing. Now the robots while not alive were conscious. More than that, their consciousness was human-like rather than animal-like. That is they were self-aware and used syntactic languages. Granted a handful of animals are self-aware and an even smaller group can be taught languages though they cannot create them.

However they're categorized in Gunnerverse taxonomy, I'm still curious how the New People look in the Ether, myself. Though we don't strictly need a Coyotespective to see that, should Annie ever give them a peek.

Coyote was right! He knew everything all along! He is never wrong!

Like others have said, the Noobmans probably look gray and colorless to most people with etheric sight... but if the person either knew the exact right way to look at them or had the benefit of flipping through layers of reality until they found the right one (like Omega) they'd probably look something like this (including the following page).

If real Coyote and Loup were able to exist at the same time, I still might give Loup and Annie odds.

The Robots and New People evidently have enough etheric power and belief in Kat to grant her her Robot Goddess look, even if she cannot see it herself, anyone ethericly minded sees it when they look at her and she is in the midst of that Sparky place. There is no reason to believe the New People are not connected to the ether too.

There is no reason to believe the New People are not connected to the ether too. I don't think if they were connected to the ether is the right question. Ether exists in rain, probably in the rest of nature too though in lower quantities. Being part of the world probably means being part of everything else as a default. The only thing I know of that apparently isn't connected to the ether is Jones, and she exibits some pretty unusual traits/powers so I think of her as an oxbow lake of ether rather than a flow. I think it's better to ask how the robots are/were connected to the ether and how much. Does something man-made become more or less connected to the ether/everything else? I think there's reason to suspect it's more connected as we know there's contracts of ownership and stuff, though not necessarily since those might be seen as obstructing the natural flow. As newer versions on Diego's golem tech the robots were probably more connected than generic tools and machines because they relied on the ether to do some of the things they were doing, yet they did not have 'pomps so that would appear to place them below insects in at least one dimension of connection... but even so they had a prophesy (arguably) and could make their Angel appear someday which insects apparently can't do... though if they were doing that by virtue of their own connection to the ether and everything else or by proxy is not clear. Now that the Noobmenz have their own rich, subjective reality they should have a much more complex connection to the ether but it wouldn't necessarily make the pipe wider, at least not right away... which is why I think it would be very tough for most etheric users to see a Noobman as something other than the gray background environment unless they happened to look in exactly the right very narrow way... in which case they'd see a lot of stuff going on.

I know he can see and interact with Jones, but he's had literally the entire existence of the earth to figure out her deal. Wait what? Coyote is as old as Jones and the Earth now? Coyote's had exactly his own life time to figure everything out. No more, no less. As Coyote himself said, Jones has been around even longer than he has... by quite a margin, I should add. And why should anything not directly connected to the ether be a "deal" for Coyote to "figure out"?

Coyote came off looking like a dingus Ha! That's a perfect summary of the current situation and why it's both hilarious and worrisome.
