Otherwise, he would not be a stand-up fellow.

He was literally not taking the fight seriously, but thats beside the point, since this is loup and its Annie's affections with Renard that is actually getting to him.

Yea, it's cool to see that Loup's mind (about insulted by Renard accusing him not taking the whole thing seriously) differs from his feeling (about jealous to Renard getting attention from Annie) depicted in this comic.

This is hilarious! I disliked the Loup at first, but there is something absolutely hilarious about an Eldritch god having a teenage I'll-show-you-old-man/This-girl-is-pretty/My-friend-is-mad-at-me?? crisis!!!

Welcome to the current chapter, in which a precocious yet naive young woman who used to be a robot becomes enamoured with a be-pony-tailed boy pretending he used to be a robot who is really a coyote/wolf god who is himself enamoured of a young woman who happens to be part fire elemental whose friend is a fox-god in wolf's clothing about whom said coyote/wolf god seems jealous and annoyed.
Oh, what a tangled snare we weave!

Since Lana has read romance books, I wonder if she'll suggest making Annie jealous by pretending to be a couple? If the Love Dodecahedron goes on a retreat with Jack and Jenny, we're one hop away from a Shakespeare comedy. Or a funnier episode of Frasier.

On the next page, we'll see that Jerrek has been subconsciously making a sculpture of Annie and/ or Renard with his magitech tool.
I almost feel sorry for him. Renard has just signed a long-term, rent-free lease to live inside his head.

While seemingly working half-heartedly at shifting dirt to get at buried robots, "Jerrek" is thinking about Annie and Renard's closeness and the last thing Renard said about Loup, with obvious irritation. Renard's impression that Loup isn't taking this seriously is probably due to the fact that (as we're now 99% certain) he doesn't know that Jerrek is Loup, so to him it seems as if Loup isn't doing anything much. But Loup doesn't seem to realize that. Instead of saying, "Nyeh heh heh, I've got you completely fooled, sucker," he's instead angry, perhaps making plans to show Renard just how serious he is. In the background we see a blushing Lana glancing over her shoulder at Jerrek. I wonder what she's going to do. She hasn't really made any moves to get close to Jerrek since that started happening; she's moved from a fairly brash and confident character to a shy and retiring one in her recent appearances, possibly because of these feelings she doesn't know what to do about. I hope she bounces back and we see that in-your-face Lana again soon.

That or he is making Loup cubes and squares, the Lana expression and way the panel is cut makes me think something is suspicious/weird about his manipulations.

Renard helps bring out the contrast of Loup's jealousy. Renard used to be in love with Surma to point where he killed someone, and yet only has nice things to say about Jerrek as potential Annie boyfriend, no hint of jealousy, he cares more about Annie's happiness than having her to himself.... though comically not realising Jerrek is Loup. Loup is the smart guy who has everyone fooled yet childish tantrums.
Lana is a different sort of contrast, she is very concerned about her own (likely unwanted) jealousy, based on her talk with Robot.

A double, no, triple, NO, QUADRUPLE OR MORE DATE EPISODE! Miscommunications everywhere! Spilled drinks! Unlikely people getting stuck in elevators/closets together! Use ALL the tropes!

A couple of things here. Nothing earth-shattering, though perhaps earth-molding! 1. Loup/Derrek is able to use Kat's tool just fine. Huh. 2. Not clear what Lana is thinking there - is she seeing Derrek do something out of character, or just thinking about how she would like to be with him more and that he doesn't like her, liking Annie instead? Or something else, like maybe she can see Derrek is angry and has no idea why? Obviously her book-larnin' isn't doing her as much good as she assumed it would! 3. Loup is overreacting about every little thing Renard does, whether aimed at him or not. Renard even likes Derrek! But Loup is so pre-disposed to suspect Renard of scheming to mess with him that he just can't take him at face value. Best guess - Loup is using the tool angrily somehow, and Lana is worried. If that's the case, we'll see Lana ask him what's wrong next. So there's my bid for a cookie. Side note - we need a cookie emoticon!
