And Eglamore edges ahead of Zimmy! He's making great strides in word count this chapter.

Wow. In one fell swoop, Coyote has overtaken Tea, Aly and Parley.

Coyote is rocketing ahead! He's now said more than Mort and Robot!

As icing on the original herculean cake, the play-by-play commentary is a pretty awesome touch.

That's amazing. It kinda reminds me of what I had to do while translating a manga... (My Career of Choice is a Japanese Translator, soon to be Japanese/Russian Translator - I LOVE LANGUAGES!!)

Animony, of course, remains miles ahead of everyone else, but Coyote continues to shoot up and up. I think it's very likely that he'll overtake Anja by chapter's end, and possibly even Red. Red's word count is very high, considering she's only been in two chapters, and she is currently exactly 100 words ahead of Coyote. Can he hit that mark?

You should put all the dialog in www.wordle.net/ and make the Gunnerkrigg Court Wordcloud!

www.wordle.net/gallery/wrdl/365730/UntitledYour wish has been granted. Of course, it couldn't fit all 20,708 words in a single cloud, so it kind of randomized it. Still, it is recognizably Gunnerkrigg-y. It contains the words Antimony, Reynardine, Eglamore, Robots, Parley, Annie, Kat, Zimmy, Robot, Carver, Forest, Coyote, Surma, Gamma, Ysengrin, Court, Jones, and Shadow. But the others are fairly generic words that could've come from anywhere.

And he has! He's passed Red, Zimmy and Eglamore. This chapter could actually see Coyote being in third position behind Annie and Kat. Can he overtake Reynardine? He's already gone from 242 to 817.

I'm thinking Jones is a distinct possibility, but he'd have to do some serious plot exposition in the next couple weeks to pass up Raynardine.

I think that the frequency of certain words tells us something important about the themes of the comic, e.g. Think, Time, Friend, Look, Know, Like, See, Going, First, Now, Something, Thank, One, and Yes.

I was reading through - don't ask me why! - and found a type on page 38 of the Scribd copy, in Red's dialog. She actually says “Ayup! He came to look at that metal bird dealie.”
"metal" was "meal" in that copy.
Ben
EDIT: Another! Under Dr. Disaster: “DISASTER! Is their haste, the Spacemonauts were captured by the Enigmarons and taken to their evil lair!"
Change "Is" to "In".

I don't know if you've thought of this... and I don't know how you'd accomplish it... but it might be interesting if you could sort dialogue in different ways. I'm thinking if you could tag each line with certain data, for instance, so you could sort it in order of timeline... Basically, you'd be able to read the script of the comic in order.
As it is, great work. I'm just thinking if you're searching for a specific line of dialogue, you might remember that it was in a certain order rather than said by a certain person. Or, if you remember a certain line, but you were actually looking for something someone else said in the same scene, you can't really do that here.
Just a thought. Again, great work. Not criticising or anything. Just wanted to put my idea out there.

Erm, not to attempt to be snide, but you could just look through the comic archives. I don't think there's a search function, but it couldn't be too hard.

I think the best way to do this would be to write a transcript of the whole comic, with indication of who said each line. Then it would be easy to get stats on word count for each person, automated translation, and search capabilities. For example with a transcript like this: --Page 38-- Kat=Time for bed! Kat=Night night Annie=Sleep Well NarratorAnnie=Later that night...
You could get the word count of Kat with " grep "^Kat=" transcript|wc -w" on any unix based system. (or on Windows with CygWin. ) But I can't discount the work that's already here. It's cool to have statistics like this.

Like that time in the xkcd forum when someone estimated the current comic to be the largest. Then someone posted the output of some unix command that displayed the ten largest comics and their name based on pixel count. By the way: ohnorobot.com/ Of course it would not help with word counts, only with transcription.

NO WAY! This cannot be a coincidence! In strip 500, Coyote said exactly 31 words! Beautiful!

Funny how Coyote has one of the highest wordcounts, even though he's been in less the half of the comic.
