Oh god, the barber New Person is more creepy than I imagined.
Have any of the other robots kept their former bodies around just to sit and stare at while muttering about cutting things?

Have any of the other robots kept their former bodies around just to sit and stare at while muttering about cutting things? Given the stripped wires hanging off the one arm we can actually see, gonna guess he's in the process of salvaging his old tools. Probably not a lot of ways to get new stuff with the state the Court is in right now.

Let's just all take a step back and see what happened the last time we all saw her cut hair. Oh. Whatever happens, Piter is cleaning it up. Edit: I completely misread the meaning behind that, whoops.

Oh man, now this is a good start to what I can only assume will be the set-up to the first whodunnit murder-mystery of the NP. I call Piter in the barbershop with the arms of his previous body!

Being a middle-aged woman who has had many haircuts and many friends who cut hair, I hasten to assure everyone that "you should cut it" is standard behaviour for hairdressers, who probably long to show off their artistry every chance they get. "Just trim the ends please" is probably soul-killing. One of my friends was never happier than when I made a mistake colouring my hair too soon after a perm and turned it green; it was a creative problem-solving opportunity for them. I had a spiral perm in 1980 or so when they were first a thing, and my hair was so thick as a young teenager that the beauty school put four students to working on my wrap at once. Having long hair means you are a blank canvas for the hairdresser's art. Seeing the barber insist obsessively that Jerrek should cut his hair just gave me a good laugh.

Piter is missing the stained lips and bushy eyebrows (Lynch vers.) I hope his eyes don't roll up into his head while he's cutting hair! (Villenueve vers.)

Jerrek, Annie, and Renard have found the former barber robot's current shop. Its door is wide and open-air, and the chair is far from the opening. I'm wondering if it might be set up in a corner of Kat's workshop, with the big overhead doors open. Angular color patterns in the background are adding to an agitated feel for this page, as is Piter's angular appearance, chiaroscuro shadows, and the fact that he's got his scissors in both hands and open, even though he doesn't currently have a customer. Jerrek's already nervous enough with Annie there; he doesn't seem to notice all of this extra noise very much, but it probably doesn't help. It seems that Piter's former body is right there – perhaps he wasn't involved in the shield. The body has no feet, and there are broken wires trailing off from the bottom of the legs as well as off the bottom of the torso, suggesting that the barber robot wasn't mobile. Perhaps the New People found him and simply disconnected him to bring him here (along with his chair), rather than removing his CPU. Anyway, Jerrek remarked earlier that his hair gets in his eyes, but here he's only worried about whether it will look better shorter – to Annie, that is. He's found a feeling that pushes all else away from him, forcing him to see the world in its context. Oh dear, Annie's touched his hair. He's not gonna want to wash it, is he? Piter's fading into the background, continuing to advise a haircut, probably because it's what he knows. Annie, please remind Jerrek that hair grows, even New People hair.

Well, Piter isn't creepy at all. What are the odds, that he collects the clippings, like a serial killer's souvenirs? I'm imagining, an obsessively organized collection of cut hair, in the basement.
Oh, Annie. Do you know what your doing to poor Jerrek?

However...creepy though he may be, the fact that Piter seems to keep his old body lying in a heap in a corner of his new shop raises some pretty serious questions about the New People. Is he emotionally attached to his old body? Would he prefer it over his new one? Do other New People feel the same way, and are they also clinging creepily/tragically to the broken corpses of their old selves?

We have very different experiences with hair cuts. I am also a middle aged woman but I've had very few haircuts, mainly because my hair never grew past a certain point, so I was terrified if I cut it, it wouldn't grow back. Luckily this proved false after deciding to go for it one year, but my hair is very curly, thin, and made of 80% frizz, so I have yet to meet a hairdresser who is excited to deal with it. Especially when I tell them I don't have the time/patience to put a straightener to it every morning.

I'm a middle-aged man who needs to go to the barber every two weeks to stay sharp or my thick hair grows completely out of control. I've had to go to all sorts of places but during college I mostly went to HairButchery aka HairCutterty franchises because it was cheap and near campus. Best Hairbutchery story: Unrequested body-hair trim. On final touch-ups on back of neck the girl who was cutting my hair started pulling my collar down farther and farther and before I knew it she had her arm fully down the back of my shirt and was removing hair below my shoulder blades. I asked her what she was doing and she said, "It doesn't stop!" to which I replied "No it does not. How far are you planning on going?" For the month following that incident the backs of chairs felt weird.

Well, I can tell you one thing... he has chopped off as much of his own hair as possible 😂

Annie really seems completely oblivious. Probably, or ignoring it. I don't mind either response. Why not noticing the obvious, and she is single, and she has seen seemingly successful girl+robot romance, and he is so far being well behaved guy, feeling a little flattered about being liked so much and it doesn't hurt if she does get to know him better and who knows what happens long term. From logical side, an unconventional romance has potential to give her a longer life than her mom's. Kat has had 2 seemly successful romances (first cut short by boyfriend changing into a bird), Jack seems to be succeeding with ZimmyLite, peer influence encourages her to try romance as well. From a plot standpoint, having a new person become close to Annie may help Annie later mediate/solve future robot cult problems.... right now the new people are all most lead by a single former seraph who helped arrange the love boat incident that sidelined the other seraphs. A different new person who becomes friendly with Annie and then likely as result talks directly with Kat would balance against that.

Jerrek, bless the angel, comes across as a six-year-old raised by space aliens. It literally turns my stomach to start thinking of the infant as a possible love interest for anyone, let alone Annie, who is treating him anyway like he's her little sister. Of course, Tom is likely to bring out hidden depths in the character and I'll be absolutely delighted to see it. I just don't see any romantic possibilities at present.
