Hugh. It's not just the forest that's been falling apart.

I'm getting a vibe like that Hush episode from Buffy, or those aliens from Dr. Who that your forget when you look away. Either way, NOT GOOD VIBES, MAN!

Ok so I took a psilocybin microdose before bed (it's decriminalized where I live and is amazing for migraine prevention), but then couldn't sleep and decided to check my webcomics, and gosh. Let me tell you: that face, at midnight, when you've got just enough psychedelics on board for some mild reality expansion? Nope. No thank you. No sir.
Edit: Also is it just me or does our boi here got some real Squidward vibes? Can we call him Squidward.

My mind also immediately snapped to Squidward.

I woke up from my sleep because I didn't like how my dream was going, and thought I'd take a peek at the latest comic as a palate cleanser before heading 'back in,' so to speak.
NOW HE'S GOING TO BE IN THERE, THOMAS

You all are a bunch of lookists and I'm ashamed of you. If there's any lesson we should have learned from this comic it's that appearance is unrelated to personality.
Kidding... on the square 😁 But seriously we don't know whether this is a mindless drone, a dangerous or harmless person, a person with any moral authority at all, a genius with something important to disclose, or the very Seed Bismuth itself.

I think it's one of the shield robots. They obviously took a lot of damage from the forest tsunami.
Seriously, though... I was not expecting this guy.

Not that its what's really happening here, but with ether manifestation being a thing, human belief in aliens could cause an entire civilization to exist, I think. The human creation ability being able to create science fiction technology is more up in the air, but I don't see why not. Only say so because that looks like a Grey to me.

The new chapter begins with a waning crescent moon over the wreckage near what was once the Court-Forest border, with leaning buildings partially buried by Forest matter. Something climbs up a hill, something that appears generally humanoid in form, but with very long arms and fingers.
Then we get a glimpse of its face. The features look skull-like, but more like a lizard or bird skull than a human skull. Its eyes are glowing orange-yellow orbs. What is it? There's a large chance that it's some Forest creature we've never met before, a straggler who only recently found its way into the tunnels that eventually led it outside. There's a small chance it's some sort of robot, something the buried robots modified one of their number into or perhaps one of Kat's androids that drew the short straw on the appearance RNG. Perhaps it's looking for a way to uncover the buried robots.

The author of the linked article believes that the Dover Demon is a figure from Native American legend called a Memegwesi or Mannegishi, whose description is very similar to our friend here. Considering other Native American legendary beings/creatures have appeared in the story, this may be one of those. Perhaps it lived in the Forest and only recently managed to free itself from the wreckage. Or maybe it was freed along with the rest and is going back to search for other survivors who may still be buried.

Damn, NICE job recognizing the thing! I'm 99% sure that's what it is now, especially because we've already seen certain obscure cryptids living in the Forest. Remember that pink frog thing from Chapter 48? According to Tom's retrospective series, that was actually a "Canvey monster", an obscure Southeast English folktale. So an obscure cryptid from Massachusetts seems like par for the course, honestly.

Format correction on link, so it will go where apparently intended: HEY SQUIDWARDNow as for why... don't ask me. Thanks, I hate posting from my phone. I always mess it up. It's just a scene where they say "Hey Squidward!" a lot, and my brain had literally gone "hey, Squidward." Tom, please forgive our simple ape brains that can't help but make silly connections.
