Still calling that Annie is about to put her foot square in it and say something she really shouldn't about now. Annie remained cool back during the doll incident (vs Eglamore), presumably got somewhat desensitized by all the weirdness and “big reveals” since then, and her self-control improved recently. Also, she doesn't need to, considering how Aata just set himself up. She only needs to point out that it was his "upgrade" that wasn't very useful itself and made robots useless. Then just proceed to evaluate his last grand plan, which was much worse than that.

Yes, that's part of what annoys me. He is so dismissive of the technology he used or stole even though evidently that was the best his team of people in suits could come up with. Can you imagine if they actually worked with Anja instead of just stealing from her? They probably could have come up with something great. But no, gotta be all secretive and untrusting. they wouldn't even need the power station to transfer the energy over long distances as Anja just does it with the ease from her version of her computer

Aata takes no time at all after declaring he's out of a job to get his work tie off and his shirt undone. Relatable to anyone who's had to wear a suit or uniform, haha. Wild guess: he's a shapeshifter, and the shape he's shifting to doesn't go well with his human-form clothes. (I've written that, more than once. Shifting from human to centaur while dressed is particularly hard on one's pants, and also painful - better to take the clothes off first. From human to fairy or hawk, the question is whether the smaller form can avoid being trapped in the clothing.)

Yeah it is entirely possible that I'm not giving her anywhere near enough credit, but there is a lot of history behind Annie making bad decisions so..

Well, given that - the robots that congregated at the ege of the forest were completely unresponsive due to the shielding protocol,
- Kat has been transferring the stalled robots' minds into new new bodies, and
- some of the robots were overridden with a rudimentary AI,
Aata is right: technically, "they are useless machines." Well, at least now. There's still the question of why it looks just like Anja's shield, but that could just be form-follows-function, or perhaps they reverse-engineered her shield after observing it. Or it could be that Anja participated in it and feigned being angry that the Court had "stolen" her shield. Or the Court deliberately made it look like Anja's shield to piss her off. It could be that she worked on it without being informed of the project's entire scope or intent, just focusing on her area and given tasks while being unaware of what was happening behind the scenes in the grand scheme of things. This happens a lot in the software and film industries, as well as in government (especially when intelligence agencies or the military are involved). That being said, I lean more towards the reverse-engineering / attitude theory. Aata: "They're just useless machines." Annie: *stares daggers* Aata: "I'm sorry, I only meant Robox." Annie: " "
