My question is: How much time, if any, passed in the 'real world' while the kids were in Evil Birmingham? I get the impression that zero minutes passed outside while Zimmy et al were stuck in no man's land.

Their faces are wet, it is a shine. I'll edit them out if it's going to make people confused. Edit: more confused. Don't sweat it, Tom. I didn't think twice about what those were, as did most people.

I also think that Gamma just didn't know Jack was there. She only said she was "Pretty sure"

Maybe Jack saw more than the Nobodies. Maybe he ran across the spiders, or the dragons, or giant 8-headed flesh-eating Tick-Tocs singing "pop goes the weasel" (each head in a different key) while writing the complete works of shakespeare on a typewriter with their talons?

Okay, Jack was probably not wearing eye shadow before the rain started. What the internet. EDIT: Although I guess that could just be his trauma face. Maybe. I thought it was a trauma face at first, but glancing over the page again I realized that the dark coloring around his eyes looked familiar. He could have a lesser case of Zimmy's condition. It might explain why he looks more traumatized than confused. Or maybe it's just exhausted-face eye shading. Who knows?

Did anyone else catch the little change that Tom made to the comment under the comic?
I laughed...heartily.

Oh wow, for once you people are bang on.Hi, first time reader and poster (and yes, reading the entirety of the story so far in a day has left me feeling anxious for another 470 page-in-a-day spree). I just so happen to live in Birmingham. The view from my window just so happens be a that of empty railway lines, off into the industrial warehouses, phosphor yellow glow, general post-expansion decay. And now we're calling it Birminghell. I'm going to call it now in saying im probably not going to sleep till Tuesday.

I am pretty firmly convinced that the eye rings are the product of experiencing a rather traumatizing hard day's night in the space of a few seconds rather than anything more sinister.

I agree with meghatron.
Zimmy's eye rings are not her only unearthly physical trait. She also has entirely empty eye sockets (except after it rains), decaying fang-like teeth, and a greyish skin. Neither Annie nor Jack have shown any signs of acquiring any of these features after the adventure.

I find it amusing how there are at least a dozen terms for Zimmy's alternate reality floating around, the most popular apparently being "Evil Birmingham" and "nightmare Birmingham".

I didn't even realize it was meant to be Birmingham in any way at all.
That said, minotaur / bullring bull ?

I'm partial to Bummingham, myself. Could live with Birminghell, though. On a more technical note, it appears to be not so much a hell as a portion of the Astral Plane. Consider: 1. People travel there " in spirit" while their physical selves remain in reality. 2. "Etheric" injuries inflicted by ghosts are visible there. This is consistent with ghostly injuries being inflicted to the astral body. 3. It is malleable by visitors' wishes and/or thoughts. 4. There is a massive difference in time flow rate with respect to the prime plane. All this shouts Astral Plane to me. Your mileage may vary.

I just noticed that everyone who was sucked into the wierd dreamworld were the only ones in the group that were wet.
Zimmy, Gamma, Annie, and Kat all got wet initially, and Jack got wet when he moved his umbrella to cover Annie and Kat.
Is there something in the water?
Dunno if anyone else saw that.

Freederick, I wouldn't be quick to attribute the title of "astral plane" because that's just one possible term that might not encompass what's in the comic. Let's give Tom some credit for his creativity and not try to equate his ideas with predefined terms. Even though the comic references many other pre-existing things, so I suppose I could be wrong with this. Although, "astral plane" was the first thing that came to mind when I started thinking about the Zimmy phenomena. Though it would have to be the lowest, ugliest part of it, by some definitions of "astral plane"*. However, that implies that there *are* better, higher parts of it, for which we don't really have proof in the comic**, and that's why I dislike involving predefined idea-sets. In this instance, I'd rather wait and see.
**Unless you count the pile o' plushies, but that's more of an isolated case than proof of a whole level gradation from ugliness to niceness.
Edit: Personally, I like Zimmingham best. I would also appreciate pictorial evidence of this alleged awfulness.
