I'd still like to see both sides make an attempt at talking about the central issue (the Court's big project is harming the forest, hence Loup and the "army of monsters" attacking the Court), even though I don't have much hope that it'll get far. (As I mentioned elsewhere, the Court's extremely unlikely to give up the project it's dedicated itself to since its founding, especially with the culmination so close - and after the trouble they've had with Gillitie Woods lately, the fact that it could destroy the forest might seem like a side benefit.) Loup doesn't strike me as in the best mental state to negotiate, anyway; he seems more "Meet my demands or else".

After studying the various drawings of Cvet, I'd say that those were nostrils rather than a moustache (though they were shaped close enough to one of those upturned moustaches that they could be easily mistaken for it). Oh, I know those were her nostrils. It's just that the first time she appeared someone said it looked like a moustache and I could never unsee the moustache after that. What my comment really meant was: "Cvet's nostrils seem drawn differently." I honestly thought you were trying to start a running gag, along the lines of "Who's that guy?" or "...those elf kids!"

And Coyote has been associated with chaos multiple times before. Which reminds me of a thought I recently had. Loup described Ysengrin in "Neither" as having "a feeble, regimented mind". "Regimented" suggests "order", and Ysengrin does come across as having a strong tone of order (his title of "General", for example, which suggests organization and rank). Might this be one reason why Loup is in the troubled condition he's in - he's an attempt to blend Chaos and Order, distinct opposites, together - which naturally would have big problems? (It casts new light, also, on Coyote's original candidate for his plan being Renard, a fellow trickster, who'd be a better fit.) I've been imagining that's one of the reasons why Loup can't control the Forest – Coyote set up his branch structure to let chaos do the work for him, while Ysengrin simply can't think that way; he wants things to be a certain way and can't imagine order emerging from chaos.

I probably did mention the moustache every time Cvet appeared, but I'm not sure it gained enough momentum among the rest of you to become a running gag.

Shouldn't those Shadow Men be wearing red shirts?

Some thoughts: It looks like we'll finally get to find out what really happened to the Annies. I'm sure Loup will blurt it out, or at least talk to Annie about it in the ether. Or maybe we'll just suddenly have two again, depending. The big question is, who all will be there to hear about it - allowed in the forest, not frozen or paralyzed or dead or whatever. Annie is the only one invited, right? I wonder who he will permit in his forest? Who has the lake water, anyway? Has Aata been carrying it around all this time? He basically confiscated it specifically so he'd get to go, right? At least the one holding the vial has to be allowed in. But maybe not allowed to move. Or think. Or act. I assume we'll also see what Aata's plan is, like right away. He's the leader of the Shadow Men, right? So are we about to see Aata initiate an attack? Maybe a circle of Shadow Mages or something? Perhaps each has a piece of Omega with them, or perhaps Omega can be used remotely by those with appropriate privileges? I really don't know, but have to think that Aata's whole point in taking the lake water and assuming control of the situation was so he could be the one to negotiate. But if he's thinking it will go better for him because he's an adult with secret knowledge or whatever, he may have some surprises coming. Tom generally doesn't show big fight scenes, but I think this is going to be a pretty big conflict scene, perhaps the biggest to date, even if not a physical battle. Our favorite flying gossip will probably be disappointed. Perhaps Aata and company will try to lock down Loup. Zap! Perhaps it will work, perhaps it not. Perhaps Loup will disallow some or most from entering. Barrier? Orbit? Giant foot from the sky? I'd love to see that one! Perhaps Aata will hand over the lake water, then talk. This seems highly unlikely. He'll want to have control of the situation or at least get whatever he thinks he can get out of the situation, first. Perhaps Loup will freeze everyone (or almost everyone) and just TAKE the vial, as his opening move. Of course, that may not work, depending on how prepared Aata and the red shirts are. (To be clear, I'm envisioning time control, not a physical battle here)
Perhaps the real negotiation will take place in the ether. If so, who will be invited?
We're basically expecting Coyote's plan to run to completion, yes? If so, then Loup will end up with the water, and sometime after that, will die because he must. It will be exciting to see what happens in between!
I have to think that part of what we're going to see is whatever it is that Coyote needs Loup to do, that he couldn't do himself due to his promise to not mess with the Court. I will save further speculation until after the next comic.

I wonder whether Cvet's "Boring" line (which also appeared in the bonus page of "Dealing With HER", the chapter where she was introduced) might be partly a poke at those readers of "Gunnerkrigg Court" who'd prefer more fight scenes.

I assume we'll also see what Aata's plan is, like right away. He's the leader of the Shadow Men, right? Aata is the highest ranking Shadow Man we have seen so far, but I think the actual leader is probably staying... in the shadows, so to speak. My personal wild speculation is that it's someone we have seen before not knowing they were even afiliated with the Shadow Men.
I wonder whether Cvet's "Boring" line (which also appeared in the bonus page of "Dealing With HER", the chapter where she was introduced) might be partly a poke at those readers of "Gunnerkrigg Court" who'd prefer more fight scenes. I interpreted it as Cvet being the equivalent of 18 or 19 in Orjak years and just itching to prove herself in one or more fights. Your interpretation might be a bonus of course.

Or maybe we'll just suddenly have two again, depending. If the latter happens, I half-expect Annie to casually, without any fuss, re-merge herself on the walk back to the Court.
