I'm sure Jones has seen worse gossips... Just not for millennia. Press X to doubt. If Cvet keeps this up though, she's going to feature heavily in any future favourite character polls.

So Jones knows that Tony was treating his daughter and his daughter differently. Will this mean a long overdue explanation for why that is?

I'm glad Cvet's love of gossip could come in useful somehow!

I absolutely love Cvet. She is just like a Croatian man I work with, friendly, relaxed, and protective... and the accent is dead on.

More of a "water reservoir" than a "water cooler" discussion, I see.

Just emerging from my usual lurking status to say that that last panel might be my favourite panel in the history of Gunnerkrigg. Jones' pose...I'm cackling.

Anyone else find it interesting that Cvet did not share this curious piece of information with her closest colleague? Maybe she doesn't talk during training though. So Jones knows that Tony was treating his daughter and his daughter differently. Will this mean a long overdue explanation for why that is? That might depend on whether Jones is able to try a non-direct approach. Because if she asks directly, Tony will probably just stammer "I...have work to do." and close the door.
Hm. Now I imagine Jones taking out a bottle of some cheap alcoholic beverage and just handing it to him. "Here, drink this."
(Of course, Jones might not count as a "person" for him, so he could imagine just talking to a robot. Speaking of which, does he see robots as persons? Could he be himself in a group of robots? (Actually, Jones is not a robot, but much more robotic than this story's robots. Hm.)) I absolutely love Cvet. She is just like a Croatian man I work with, friendly, relaxed, and protective... and the accent is dead on. Does he also have the same moustache? Cvet will finish her story one of these days I'm calling it, this chapter's bonus page will refer Cvet's gossipin' in some way.

Okay, maybe a small gunner cookie. Cvet "does not like to gossip"… but this does not mean she isn't good at it. ;] But there is always more story! The life and times of Cvet: the audiobook 5939 minutes long That's "Abridged".

At the end of the previous page Parley says that the way Tony treats Annie pisses her off, so here Cvet runs with that and says she hears that Tony treats (or treated) the two Annies differently. We know this, of course. But Jones encourages Cvet to go on. (On purpose? I suspect that with Jones, everything is deliberate.)
"Normal, stern man?" Cvet thinks that the way Tony acts with Court Annie is "normal?" It sounds as if she thinks that's how a man should behave. Or perhaps she's just saying that's how Tony normally acts around most people, as far as she's seen/heard.
There's Parley throwing around the word "crazy" again.
And Jones is again encouraging Cvet to continue. It's like starting a lawnmower, it seems – it takes a couple of pulls on the cord, but then away it goes. She must want more information.
Aaaaand she's gotten Cvet started. Sounds like she's mostly focusing on how the two-Annies situation affected Kat and Paz's relationship. She'll probably eventually circle back to Tony, sometime in the next few hours.

We all know someone who loves to talk like that, and we all know that you end up tuning out for half of it!

So which is the crazy part parley is referring to? That he treated them differently or that Tony is capable of acting kind and sweet? (Its probably both)
I also love the idea cvet and paz could get together for gossip parties. With paz's ability she'd have access to all kinds of sources of gossip.

Or perhaps she's just saying that's how Tony normally acts around most people, as far as she's seen/heard. On reread, I think it’s the latter. Adding a few words for clarification, Cvet can easily be read saying “...behaving as normal, [he is a] stern man with...”

Hot take: As an adult I've come to the conclusion that without people like Cvet, none of us would ever know anything about how our institutions work or how decisions get made when not everybody is in the room. Thank goodness for extroverts (and the gossips!) that do the sharing information work for us introvert types.
Dangerous to have a Cvet in your midst if you want to keep information secure, though, haha

Personally I read "normal" in this case meaning "like he is with everyone else".

After reading Wednesday's comic, I was wondering, what would it be like for Cvet and Jones to be trapped in an elevator together? Unfortunately, they could simply rip the alloy doors open like tin foil, so I dropped the thought. I'm glad it got its comical resolution.
