This...feels like set-up for a comedic situation somehow. Maybe the court people in those hazard suits?

Not sure about the 'comedic' - Zimmy seems too terrified for comedy to me. But yeah, I think we'll learn who 'they' are soon enough.

Well the speech bubbles are normal shaped, so it's probably not the headcrabbed robots. Shadow men?
Edit: Is it just me or is Forest!Annie's forearm the same shade as Zimmy's skin in that last panel, despite her face being consistent across the whole page?

Presumably the shadow people, but they've left Zimmy alone until now, why are they after her now?

No Annie! If you touch it, the mother Gamma won't take it back!

Tony gettin all his freaky science experiment daughters together to make a philosopher's stone. Y'all know I'm right.
I'd also like to posit that the reason Renard freaks about touching her is because he is a large blob of pure ether awkwardly stuffed into a toy wolf burrito and recognizes this as a tenuous position when faced with what appears to be an ether black hole. (Also note how Annie is usually symbolized by the sun in treatises, so...)

Well, it sure scared Reynard. Thats not a good sign. Also, telling her not to touch her AFTER the touch already happened isnt helping much. Weird.

It's probably Forest Gamma and Court Gamma. Together they make Gamma of Two Worlds!

How messed up would it be if the Carvers step up to protect Zimmy, but as soon as they get surrounded we discover the Annies and Renard are Nobodies, and Zimmy get captured?

I see two obvious possibilities. 1. More dangerous critters managed to break in, Zimmy ran from them. Those shouts are from the welcome committee running to intercept them. 2. Some monkeys felt an urgent need to juggle live grenades, and chose Zimmy… again.
But since that's Gunnerkrigg, it's probably something unexpected. :]

This...feels like set-up for a comedic situation somehow. Maybe the court people in those hazard suits? Uh-huh time for her yearly bath. Joking aside it's important that gamma isn't there and zimmy isn't freaking out about that. If zimmy and gamma were separated, would she flee to protect her own relative freedom or would she stay with gamma no matter what? I'm leaning toward the latter. So I'm going to guess it's the shadow men for something relatively innocuous.

Lots of the usual GK "what the heck is going on?" in this chapter.
Occam's Razor says: this is in the Court (meaning physical reality); that's really Zimmy, the Annies, and Renard; "they're comin'" means who/whatever was responsible for the weird purple glowy light Zimmy was running from; and the "over here!" voices are also "them." Unless there's later evidence that those aren't true.
We've never really seen what Zimmy looks like from Renard's point of view, but he's always called her a demon and other bad things. Here he's recoiling from her and warning Court Annie not to touch her (wouldn't make sense to warn Forest Annie not to touch her, as she already has). I'm going to assume it's Renard's usual Zimmy aversion until there's evidence of something more.
Lots of purple bricks vs. brown bricks here. Zimmy's gone through a tunnel in a purple brick wall to an area faced with a brown brick wall. Panel 5 shows us that the purple brick wall is really large and that's the only opening, but panel 4 shows us that it does in fact have a top and doesn't go up forever.
[Edit] Oh, I also wanted to say that Court Annie's all in purple, while Forest Annie's in green and brown. More purple vs. brown.

Maybe, Zimmy's prior "They're done with us" was erroneous. Now, the Court has come to stick her in a keyhole, and give her a spin. Haha wait what if it's just a bunch of Kat's Westworld androids. That would be hilarious. Robot did say they could be anything, and we joked about them choosing the extremes of the character creation screen. What if some of the robots chose Cronenburg forms, and they're just asking random students out for ice cream?

I think there IS a possibility this is a joke set-up and it's no big deal, but Zimmy's genuine distress and the fact that Gamma is nowhere in sight makes me sincerely concerned.

What if it's the tree elves? We know Renard instinctively dislikes Zimmy, maybe the same is true of other forest-dwellers, and Zimmy might not see them entirely the same as other people.

Wait, did I miss an episode? Since when are there two Zimmies and only one Annie? No wonder Gamma's not there, that must be exhausting.
And there's something going on with the background I think, the color, height and shape of the wall is inconsistent from one frame to the next. Also in the one before the last it kinda makes me think about Don's portable door.

I think it's safe at this point to say that renard's reaction has more to do with what she is rather than how she looks

I was a bit puzzled by Tom's joke with the "SHUT UP ZIMMY!" page comment. I mean... I get that it's because Zimmy was slightly repetitive in saying "They're comin'" twice (and maybe in some circumstances, it would be funny to me to imagine one of the characters issuing that rebuke). But while Tom has often mocked a character in the page comment, this instance felt a bit odd to me, given the seemingly serious circumstance. I think he usually holds back a bit on the snark when in-story stuff gets dark.
It's not all that important, I guess, but it felt like a somewhat awkward tonal mismatch. Like... imagine if the "Guh... Gamma..." torment page a few back (2391) had been followed by the same comment. It'd sabotage the impact a bit.
Oh well, it's up to Tom and whatever tickles him.

None of this has been serious because we are still in reality. For now it's just hmm odd that Zimmy is scared but not the first time and look prat fall
