The one time I remember Tom telling us how much he had in the buffer, it was 3 months worth. But that was several years ago, and I don't use any of the social-media services he's on.

I can't remember for sure either. I started somewhere between Chapter 4 and Chapter 11. I could probably find the exact time because I believe it was around when Neil Gaiman linked to GC on his blog, which was Chapter 8. I suspect I started reading around Chapter 7? So that was my guess. It was around 2006 because I was still in High School. It's been a good run! I've only been on the forums for a few years though. It's been very fun to connect with the deep-dive fandom and think through plot theories with everybody. Previously I was doing it all on my own by my lonesome, haha.

I was recommended GC when this page was on display. But I actually didnt bother start reading it then. The bratz early art was a huge turnoff. I decided to start reading it some time after and caught up when this page was on.Both times in episodes about Diego/Jeanne

I've just caught up on the last two chapters and reading them all at once rather than three pages a week made me fall in love with Gunnerkrigg all over again. Dusted off my forum account too. According to my first forum post, it looks like I started reading in 2008 during Ch 19: Power Station, probably around this page. I also found this post from myself a few months later in early 2009, in a thread called "You know you're a GC fan when...": When you are at a party and you realise that there are five people in the same room who all read GC and you scream your head off about it because you find this so exciting. (Also - apparently the gays love GC! I was at an LGBT party at the time.) I had come out a couple of months earlier and I remember this moment at the party very vividly as one of the first times in my life that I felt like I was really with my people. That's not strictly on-topic, but I'm feeling emotional over Gunnerkrigg right now and wanted to share this moment from when I was a relatively new reader!

Yeah I can't remember either. It was over 5 years ago, so sometime in 2014-15
Edit: Was actually way earlier, sometime around 2011. It's funny, cause the art style was pretty much solidified by that time, and it's been 9 years since then.

Wasn't there already a thread like this? How did you discover GC? thread which has been defunct for a good while. Hm, I swear I remember posting to that thread but I don't see anything I wrote. Maybe I got hammered and randomly deleted it or something. Anyway, I found GC through Drunk Duck back when Ch.2 was just starting. I read what was there and bookmarked it because I knew from the premise plus the use of color that the artist was a good one and if he stuck with it the webcomic would be great... but many promising webcomics don't survive long because of the amount of work and devotion it takes. I came back several chapters later and sure enough he did and it was so I became a regular reader. It for sure is, how do you wait for it? Personally, this way... What else do you read in Webcomic Form? which has also been defunct for a good while and contains a number of dead links, but also some that are still good.

And Discovery before that. Wow, some long gone poster had a Kill Me Baby avatar. Damara also turned in that direction, there are probably more.

Welp. I distinctly remember catching up with the comic right when Reynardine was about to possess Annie and being annoyed by the cliffhanger. Which means I've been checking this dang comic three times (or more) per week every single week for 15+ years.

I remember during a study hall in high school I was clicking on all the usual comics back then, trying to kill time. I found GC when it was in the middle of the second chapter, I've been hooked since. I guess it's part ways nostalgia and mostly excited to see where we go next.
Now I feel like an old timer.

I'm just a rookie then - I was greeted by the bonus page describing Arthur's new body, barely more than a year ago.

Right, I thought I started around A Week for Kat, but on reread, I distinctly remember reading GKC in high school—before the MWF change—I *think* around Chapter 6-7. It’s staggering how some of us have spent 1/2 or more of our lives reading GKC, and speaks to Tom’s skill at keeping us engaged for so long.

Oh man, it's hard to remember. According to my forum join date, it would have been Red Returns, but I think I remember waiting though the week of guest before that. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I wasn't around when the first print on demand book came out. I guess I'll put it down as Fangs of Summer time, but I might have been reading longer before I joined the forum.

Midway through Fire Spike. I think this was the most recent page when I started reading. www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=807Though it took me a few days to get through it in part because at the time the best I could get in my area was dialup.

I started about when Chapter 10 was aired, but as I am a meticulous reader, I didn't even read that current page, but skipped back to the start and read it in one go. I was mesmerized by the story and character building, even more when, about 5 chapters later) I discovered the Forum, hehe. My route was: XKCD -> QC ->GKC. Those days they were a guilty pleasure. I swear I said to someone that caught me reading these that I was studying American English (QC) vs British English (GKC) !

Probably the most important result is that it seems GKC is still bringing lots of new readers in each chapter, but few of them keep sticking around on at least the forum, otherwise other chapters than the newest would have higher numbers also. Or chapter 77 just coïncidentally has the highest spike of readers, but that seems less likely to me.

Anyone know why so many started around chapter 37? Did something happen back then? There was a contest between webcomics of some kind and Hussie of Homestuck fame apparently told people to check GKC out. Not sure, though.

The spike at the most recent chapter makes sense from all the transient viewers who only log into the forum a couple of times, but other than that Chapter 37 spike it seems pretty even, although perhaps a reduction in new viewers after Chapter 50-52 or so in 2015, which is when Tony first came back. Not sure if that's to do with the story, or something else
