I guess this explains why we haven't seen her before, the means to do so looks to be a one-shot deal, so Anja was saving it for something important.

Summoning? No, that thing is going to create a Terminator-esque sphere of displacement/transportation. That is why Anja asked them to stand up, so all of them would be inside of the sphere to get them where Brinnie is.

Well! I thought maybe that trinket was a way to contact Brinnie, like an Asgardian cell phone, but nope, I guess it's a one-shot Brinnie-summoner -- or a one-shot mass-teleport to Brinnie's place, perhaps. I was suspecting that Anja would talk to Brinnie and arrange for a meeting soon, but I guess it's happening now.
So how does this work? Does Brinnie give Anja another valknut-shaped memento after the meeting?
Assuming that the Eglamore-summoning beacons are also Brinnie's doing, she seems to favor one-use break-to-activate items.

I bet class reunions in the court are a lot more exciting than at most schools.

This looks very like the beacon* Eggers provided Annie with in case of emergency. Similar motif, too. * Eggers indicated they were replaceable. Maybe Valhalla has online ordering these days?

Could be multi-use, we'll have to wait to see. If it works like the beacon, we'll have Brinnie show up at Anja's, and the girls are being asked to stand up out of respect.

I recall the symbol of last page and compared it to two other times that symbol has appeared. Presumably this ritual is a version of Eglamore's beacon and meant to summon Brinnie.

BRINNIE: "Couldn't you have called first? I hate when people do this while I'm on the toilet." No, no, the summoning beacon (of whichever form) is a practical demonstration of time travel. Otherwise the recipient of the summons could not have time to get ready before appearing, put on his dragonslayer armour, grab her spear and magic helmet, you know what I mean.

While Anja was being literal about how long it had been since she'd last seen Brinnie, I can't help but read it as Tom lampshading that 40 chapters have passed since Brinnie was so much as mentioned.

People in the Gunnerverse don't use the toilet [citation needed] and the beacon imposes a transformation sequence on the subject, changing their outfit, like the magic wand in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

He puts on the getup every time he takes Annie into the forest.

I hope Brinnie's *Zam!* entry doesn't wreck the Donlans' coffee table. ...and that's the story of the dented coffee table. My first thought, too, was that the girls should have helped Anja move the coffee table and the amulet should be snapped on the FLOOR. You know, in case Brinnie materializes on top of the table. They could at least move the Tik Toc and give Brinnie some space. Unless she will enter a little further away, in a chair or on the floor maybe? And she won't hit the table at all.

The girls deserve the full view of the badass valkyrie. And if she does the magical girl transformation sequence on site that's a bonus! Edit: I'm assuming she'll materialize above the table, hence the "full view", and not in the same space as the table, wrecking it in the process...
