I guess the appropriate cliché is: "No good deed ever goes unpunished." When someone starts spouting legalese and then says they're "here to help", be afraid. Be very afraid. Cookies!

Put in jail? Uhh... for some reason that sounds REALLY weird to me. When dealing with higher powers in myth and legend and they are punishing you normally they put you or someone/something you care about away for eternity. A jail has the implicit notion that one will eventually be let out. And it's a human institution, run for the benefit of humanity at large; why would any higher beings create something like that? I think they just assumed that everyone in the room knows Kat is a goddess and is going to the godly jail. It's not like they wouldn't smite a human with a Thanos snap for breaking universe laws, it's because Kat isn't quite entirely human and/or entirely mortal.

Well, I was wondering when I'd see the first mention of the Marvel Universe here...

Wouldn't simply confiscating the arrow be a more reasonable response than putting Kat in jail? The good thing about this being about bureaucracy rather than justice is that there should be a lot more latitude about what can be done as long as the bureaucracy gets what it wants. Should have called for a lawyer before speaking too much. Well, in their defense they didn't realize that they were the potential target of an investigation. The fact that the crimes committed with the arrow happened a long time before Antimony and Kat were born is actually a lot less relevant in a universe where time travel and duplication is a thing. The "translator" sure seems to be making a lot of declarative sentences without consulting the arbitrator now. It's almost like he's not just a translator. I did think it was odd when he ducked Kat's question about who he was in #2150 (first two panels) with a smile but thought he might just be a foil. By The Way: The threat of jail is just a threat to get specific information and compliance, it doesn't necessarily mean that someone's getting imprisoned. It just means that the casual smiles-on-faces part of the investigation is over. Actually, time travel has so far not appeared in this comic. Retroactive creation of mythical beings and time dilation are merely related themes.

What Kat sees when she goes to jail: so all she has to do is find the 3 golden monkeys for her fine! Does Kat get a defense lawyer?

KAT: Jail? How about we split the uprights since you did dick-all to solve this problem, and I perform some light community service? Reading to Boxbots?

Wait, does Clippy actually know that the arrow was made by another person or did they assumed that Kat is directly responsible for negating those contracts and thus she deserves the punishment? They just said that the gang solving the problem was "probably" the reason they could "track its usage" but they don't seem to have solid evidence of who used it and is blaming Kat for everything instead of just the "trying to breach and transfer the Annie -> Rey contract to Arthur" part

Jail is where you go after being arrested; PRISON is where you go after being convicted. Time for some Gunnerkrigg Court drama, with plenty of *OBJECTION!* Actually, I believe you meant to say "the slammer". You call it the slammer when you are extra angry at crimes.
(I'm sorry, I actually just finished reading that comic and now I can't stop making these damn references)

The point is, jail would imply a short-term stay while they sort out the details, perhaps with Annie and Annie as Phoenix and Maya. EDIT: Oh well, I wrote this before I saw that today’s was up. On the road right now.
