Looks like those who aren't etherically talented can't see that guy. Kat isn't but is being brought center stage. The others look like they're frozen in time, I think.

Kat's talented with etheric technology and that appears to have made a difference this time.
Also, I see we've got that twisty brick path looking motif again.

Welp, there's our chapter leader image. So I'm taking it to mean that Juliette, Robot, and Shadow are currently frozen and not aware of the business about to go down? Prediction: now is the time for Kat and Annies to get their official designations as Angel/Creator and Psychopomp. Why Rey is there, though, is less clear, unless it was just 'cos he was in proximity to the Important Players. Edit: sharked by... everyone above me.

It wouldn't surprise me if Rey is there specifically as a witness, or since hes an etheric entity he has a right to be there, or more likely both. Edit: VV Shadow is too isn't he. Hmm.

I guess we've never seen what he looks like in the ether. I'd go with imaginaryfriend on this one with regards to Kat.

I doubt Kat sees any of this. As usual.

Well, not necessarily. There have been other times where we've seen things from the etheric perspective but Kat is clearly not seeing it ( See Ya! and parts of The Other Shore).

I'd go with imaginaryfriend on this one with regards to Kat. well, except even when she has been "ethericaly talented" in a techno sense in the past (eg, construction and use of Diego arrow locator) she still wasn't able to see the etheric phenomena. Something is different this time.... maybe!

She's clearly seeing something, even if it's not what everyone else is seeing - the little amount of body language we can see would suggest surprise. But maybe for her the arch just turned into a door and some dude walked out.

Hu, I definitely wasn't expecting that one.
The only thing I would expect to be living in the walls of the Court would be the seed bismuth. But unless "seed bismuth" is a serious mispronunciation of that thing's name, I doubt that this is it.

Maybe it was not supposed to happen, but it sure looks cool. I wonder if Diego ever met that being. Well, if it is a being at all, it might also be a portal to somewhere. In which case I wonder if Diego ever went in. And if it is something else... well, you get my gist.

Arch Nemesis(?) Looks like a Chinese demon of some sort.... Nope, it's the Balinese Rangda. Rangda Ning Dirah - the widow-queen of witches, and my childhood nightmare. She leads an army of baby-eating shape-shifting witches. Or it could be her nemesis Barong, which visually gets conflated often.

Kat was able to see Ankou, so it isn't too surprising she is able to see this apparent god. This god is probably exactly what he seems, so Kat should see him just like everyone else. In the rotd, Kat saw through disguises, and in the river she saw through a trap, but here I think everything is what it seems. Possibly. Unless that's Diego or something.

Rangda... Rangda Bangda???The only thing I'm wondering is what this entity is going to behave like. All dramatic and big-voiced? Or maybe more like "HEY YOU DID YOU JUST MAKE A SOUL? NEAT!" Or maybe this is like the etheric version of Clippy. "It looks like you're trying to create a fully fledged living being..."

It makes me pretty happy that you guys have already been able to identify this entity's source in mythological tradition. There are a lot of mythological traditions represented in GC, and I think we just added a new one. I'm ultra stoked for this, guys.

Of course, as far as we know, everyone sees things a little different in the Ether. As the audience, we may have been merely seeing things from Annie POV, or default to her POV when things are generally the same for everyone. I'm no expert, but I'm thinking it may look more like Barong, due to the panther/kek like ears. Things are definitely more interesting.
