I wonder if Annie will question why Smitty and Parley handed over Coyote's gifts to them to the Court. It may have been part of the decontamination process, but Annie never got that treatment, so I don't know why Smitty and Parley would. Bringing home leaves and flowers and such requires a slightly different procedure than bringing home THE STILL-LIVING PIECES OF AN ACTUAL GOD. Only if they told the Court what they were. Even they didn't even know at the time what they were. They probably knew they were important and not just a regular goose bone and bit of water, but did anyone besides Coyote know they were pieces of him?

The Court does have reasons to lie. The bone and water are valuable samples for study and for future dealings with "Loup" they're bargaining chips. Also: Now the only thing that Frannie has to offer "Loup" is Renard's body-stealing gift, which is probably something they'd rather Renard not have. But it could well be the truth. Without a big workforce of qualified people to study the gifts I think there's a good chance they were indeed in the same facility. Wonder what will happen when Fannie and Courtnie inevitably give Renard conflicting commands. The fact he has to obey them both is a planet-size Chekov gun. Maybe he'll have a BSOD and freeze in the spot like El Chavo del Ocho (latin american reference). Or maybe they'll undo him and open a tear in the fabric of space time or something

I'm a little surprised at how surprised Pfft!nie is in this page. I'd definitely expect that after 6 months spent effectively at war with Loup that the topic of the artifacts left by him wasn't brought up at some point, especially if they had been destroyed. I suppose that the Court was probably keeping Annie in the dark due to their suspicions of her loyalty, but that's still a pretty big piece of info to miss out on.

The existence of those items was probably a secret, so they wouldn't be talked about and their loss wouldn't be commented on except in meetings of trusted individuals who either already knew of them or were deemed to have need to know. Annie already knew of them, but the court hasn't trusted her for a while - and since she's the Forest Medium, there should be a limit on how much they involve her in the Court's planning and emergency-handling discussions. She would not be included in those meetings.

What would happen if one Annie told him one thing and then immediately something conflicting the first order? I guess the same will apply if a split Annie does it.

It may have been part of the decontamination process, but Annie never got that treatment, so I don't know why Smitty and Parley would. Maybe Parley and Smitty followed procedure and showed Admin their gifts, while Annie probably just cares less for the Court's rules.
Was the last time the goose bone and water were seen when Annie said goodbye to Parley and Andrew in the goose story chapter? Did we ever see them again? Pretty sure that was the only time until Loup talked about them.

I hope someone brought a comb. Frizzy hair is the Worst. But I also wonder who is going to get an earful. All of em? Primarily Kat and Parley? Maybe the Annies will come in, sit down, and/or ask for a comb, and it will be the end of the chapter. I expect the chapter will be over in 1-5 pages. So I'm not right about everything, but 1. Frizzy hair is gone (someone must have had a comb!) 2. The chapter has effectively ended, 5 pages after I posted this. I give myself half a cookie

Why are people making the assumption that they can be destroyed?

Why are people making the assumption that they can be destroyed? I don't think anybody does assume that. Either lost and to be recovered in the next X chapters, or, quite possible, hidden by the court, because they don't want Loup to become even more powerful. And I can personally imagine a scenario wherein they remain untraceable, and some kind of cunning plan is to be invented to avoid Loup's wrath. I don't think anyone can imagine this comic ending without Coyote restored to his glorious, colourful self, and for that the bone and water seem to be necessary.

I don't know if Coyote's restoration will actually take place; we've seen other characters who were in the story from early on, such as Mort and Jeanne, get written out, so Coyote might also be genuinely gone for good. But the bone and water will have to have some role in the story, to justify their presence, and they won't have achieved that if they really were destroyed..

The items could have been Coyote's plan to come back, but plans do fail and even trickster god plans can fail, especially if they're currently dead and can't influence the world to maneuver around variations in circumstances. But since the lake water is Coyote, like he said so, he isn't dead at all and just duplicated much like Loup did to Annie. The flask might be indestructible (and so the bone) and even magicked so just Parley can open it since it's his gift to her, but even in this state he cannot correct the course of the situation without being released (which I think it would involve a ritual similar to the tale of the dead goose in a bush by the lake)

One of the objects was a "memory", right? Could it be that the memory is nothing more than "I am not whatever I think to be at the moment, I am the great Coyote!"

One of the objects was a "memory", right? Could it be that the memory is nothing more than "I am not whatever I think to be at the moment, I am the great Coyote!" Well, Coyote is the water and the goose bone is one of Coyote's memories, and the tale is about him being a dead goose, and a lake, and everything near the lake, and in the end he just remembers he is a Coyote. I don't think it can be clearer than that, and that's why I suspect this plan will fail, just to ruin the expectations. If Coyote willingly gave his body (and his powers) and one of them being the ability to create a duplicate of a living being, that would explain the flawed nature of Antimony's etheric appearance since Loup's "given" power would be flawed as well, on the other hand the lake water in the flask would be a perfect duplicate of Coyote, and by being "perfect" it couldn't be a duplicate but Coyote himself, and so by sharing a "self" with the part that is inside Loup he is aware of everything that's happening and by extension Loup is aware that Coyote is still alive somewhere in the Court, trapped in a tiny space, and holding every flawless versions of his powers, which he really, really, wants!

It remains that Coyote gave three gifts of himself (that we know of) that at last report were in the Court, and was very firmly insistent that one of them be kept secret.... from the forest-dwellers. Including Ysengrin.
And now Loup has asked for two of those gifts back.
I gotta think that this difference is relevant.

With Renard's "body stealing" that's two potentially lethal weapons against Loup.
