Now they'll bust down the door to freedom and run right into the curfew bots. In other words: out of the frying pan and into the fire, but it's okay because they are the fire and also the frying pan in this analogy so really everything's fine.

Has Annie always been able to go Red Power Ranger at will? In the past it's always seemed tied to her emotions

And again Sylvannie is the one to take a decision... Actually she's just giving orders at this point.

In the Annies' current state of mind, that would be really bad news for the bots.

Guess that clears up the question whether Annie would be affected by the heat. Mystery solved!

Guess that clears up the question whether Annie would be affected by the heat. Mystery solved! Though not the question of whether the Ashray really was hostile or whether both Annies jumped to the conclusion that it was.

In a few pages we'll see her complaining to Lindsey about this job they gave her but despite not being able to even talk to them and being lased in the face she kinda managed to get them to work together and get to an understanding so she considered it done anyway PS: obviously this conversation will be all in Gargle and we won't understand anything

Hm. If the can't "burn", being magical fire creatures, maybe the Ashtray can't "evaporate", being a magical water creature. I wonder, if their intention was to pressurize the chamber with steam and blast the door, violently decompressing the Ashtray out. If the Ashtray isn't a very firm team-building exercise, they may all shot out to a surprised/worried George.

I think the crown is figurative, so whether or not it makes it into a panel depends on whether it’s important for us to see her actions as related to that part of her nature. When she sets herself on fire introducing herself as the forest medium, she also has no visible crown.

They may be making the Ashtray more uncomfortable than it cares for, thus making this attack on the Annies more trouble that it is worth.

Actually on reread, I understood the transition from that page to the first panel of this one as the ashray charging Courtnie, and Courtnie jumping out of reach at the last moment. It looks like the ashray might be very cumberslow (yes that's now a word) when it's not navigating through water.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be standing behind that door when they blast it open. "Annies vs. curfew bots" reminded me of this:

When she sets herself on fire introducing herself as the forest medium, she also has no visible crown. Also, didn't Coyote take the crown from her a while back? If you mean Loup, no he did not. He merely held her by the crown. There was never any indication that he had taken it. Some people speculated that was the moment he doubled Annie (I think not.).

The crown seems to be more of an etheric representation of Annie's fire since it doesn't show up when she turns into a fire elemental in reality. And again Sylvannie is the one to take a decision... Actually she's just giving orders at this point. This makes sense to me because Courtnie has probably been taking orders from those around her for the last six months instead of making decisions on her own like she used to. Plus, Annie seems to instinctively become more subservient when she's around Tony. Six months of being in that frame of mind would make her even more unwilling to act without direction. Sylvie, on the other hand, hasn't had any of that indirect conditioning so she's able to be more proactive and not reactive.
