What do boxbots actually do? It seems that they're a kind of super-Roomba, but is that a correct analysis?

Are there other animals – or things – in the Large Animal Holding Cells, or is it just something they keep around in case someone large accidentaly get possesed by demons?

Is it common to have that many different guides in a hospital, or it is a Good Hope's peculiarity?

Is the cherry tree somehow relate to Robot's new arm?

I had my appendix removed at Good Hope. Neat! I forget, do you get all the ice-cream you want after an appendectomy, or is that the bonus after some other common surgery?

Hi, I've been reading the comic for a week now, and I must say... I really love it!!! Now, to not get off-topic... I have a question for Tom...
When you started the comic, how did you get it to the people? I mean, what kind of publicity did you use?
Bye now...

Terry Pratchet seems to be referenced to all over the place, so it seems only natural to ask if you like him. If so, what's your favorite Discworld book and character? Would be OK to start threads about other authors in this forum? There's no actual rule against it, but I thought it better to ask anyway.

Owl posted a cool fanart of Eglamore vs. Reynardine Krueger. Does Annie still have her surgical tools stored in her stuffed wolf? Or did they all fall out when he entered?
If they're still there, how does Reynardine feel about scalpels in his gut? Does Annie think it proper to ask him to open up for her when she needs to pick a lock? Does Reynardine mind? (He can't refuse.)
If this figures in a future chapter, then I guess I'll find out soon enough...

I just started the comic on Drunk Duck, mentioned it on a forum I go to when I had a couple chapters done and that's about it. The comic was featured for a while on Drunk Duck (before it all changed), so that helped. Other than that I'm extremely bad at self advertising. I've bought a couple banner ads here and there. A lot of new webcomic creators seem to spend a lot of effort trying to get their comic noticed, but I prefer to focus on the comic itself.

I have never read Terry Pratchet and I don't even know what his books are about, let alone what characters are in them. My mum bought me a Terry Pratchet book when I was 12 or so but I disliked the cover so I didn't read it. I'm curious what parts you think are references to his books though. You can start threads about other stuff if you want, though the forum was mainly set up to talk about the comic.

I had my appendix removed at Good Hope. When he was in the hospital I think the thing he was most anxious about was not being able to read his comments for a couple of days. I did my best to tell him what they all were but I think that just wasn't as satisfactory to him as reading them on his page himself.

In Chapter One, when Robot calls Annie "mommy", why was it spelled "mommy" rather than "mummy" (which would seem the more likely spelling, since Annie and the rest are British)?

Ah, sorry, I meant he's referenced to a lot in the forums, people keep comparing stuff in the comic to stuff in his books. Most of the rabid posters seem to be fans of his. If you want to read some of his stuff, I'd recommend starting somewhere around the middle of his bibliography. His earlier stuff is mostly just parodies of sword and sourcery, the later books are more parodying other things, with the majority of the swords and sorcerers out of the picture (that said, most of his books are about a world that is carried on the back of four elephants which again are carried on the back of a turtle; it is fantasy, after all). That was an awful lot of words for something I don't even know if I should post in this thread, so here's a question: do you feel especially influenced by any specific authors or artists?

Mort, Wyrd Sisters or Guards! Guards! are all good starter books, especially Mort. Some of the earlier ones are frankly bizarre at times, and a bit difficult. I think Annie embodies much of the no-nonsense of Susan, Death's granddaughter ( The Hogfather and Thief of Time). Also the random posters about the Court are kinda in the vein of some of the comments Pratchett makes in his books. Such as 'Boring Door', makes me smile everytime I see it. And the depth of research too, it's incredible how many references to myth, folklore, history, popular culture and so on that Pratchett manages to cram in. 'Least that's how I see it.

No, not really. I mean, I have influences, just like anybody, and I could probably give you a list of well known and lesser known artists and authors, but I tend to lump everything that has influenced me into a whole and draw from that.

Where did the notion of giving little art-deco cherub wings to the Robots come from? Just thought it would be neat?

^^^ yeah, I'd like to know about the wings too. Coincidentally Dresden Codak is starting his Hob comic with the same: dresdencodak.com/cartoons/dc_032.htm But my real question is: do you really hate boxbot? Have you always hated him? I mean like hate, not like mild dislike. Not jealousy that he's more popular than you or anything petty like that. Hate?? Is that why you made him so short? Revenge??

When exactly are our heroines' birthdays? Not tellin'! Will you tell us when your birthday is? I have a suspicion, based on something in the comic.
