My question is: How did you become so D*mn good at both writing and drawing? The boring answer is practice. I realise this is of no help whatsoever. Reading a lot helps too.

Bah, rant. I don't think I even had a question since I found out about art school. So I will just ask Tom - are you a Quantum Leap fan? I am just guessing from the drawing of you with Scott Bakula, but maybe you are a Star Trek fan or maybe something else he was in who knows. I think it's pretty great! Yesterday I got season five in the mail, for my brothers birthday. Yes, I love Quantum Leap and Scott Bakula. Quantum Leap was one of the best TV shows ever made. I like it almost as much as X-Files.

Are the characters going to grow up? Or just stay at the same age forever? Also, how long have they actually been at the school?

When you were writing and drawing Chapter One, did you know then that Annie's mother had recently passed on, or did you only decide on that while you were doing Chapter Two?

Mm. Or... who likes what kind of chocolate? Kat likes any kind of chocolate with nuts in, and Annie has not decided which type she likes best yet. That must suck growing up eating hospital food.

What kind of music do you listen to while drawing?

stuff people might want to buy Reynardine wolf dolls! Just saying. Also, about Annie having gone to Gunnerkrigg for 6 months, but the first year coming to an end, does that mean she started after the other kids, or just that the story will progress rapidly towards the next year (I assume they have a school year of about 10 months).

Believe me, if I had the capacity to make Reynardine dolls I would. I can sew though, so maybe I should look into that too. Anyway, yeah, Annie started the school year later than the rest. It is mentioned on this page.

Did you base any of the characters on anyone in particular or were they just made up of whatever your imagination's made of (silk, maybe?)? However, when I first drew Annie I was also drawing Kirie Goshima from Uzumaki and they still look a lot alike. I don't know why but the fact that not only have you read Uzumaki but one of your characters is artistically based on one of Ito's makes perfect sense

Could we make some T-shirts on Cafe Press if we send the proceeds to you?

Maybe he knows a supplier, or someone who could help you out? His website is here: www.andyrunton.comTake care, --Sherri, aka enigmaticfox www.enigmagraphics.com

1) You have a lot of beatiful drawings of faeries on deviantarts ... were you working on a project, or were those just for fun?
2) The bonus page with Tea explaining the fae regions was neat. A faerie compendium might be a good seller. Do you have any plans to do such a thing?
3) Will we be seeing any more of Tea in the future?
Thanks!

Seeing as the faeries are, indeed, from the Courtverse, you should make a short story to go along with your next book. That would be a really nice addition for those who'd buy the book.

I started drawing them for fun, and they evolved into a mini-story that I worked aimlessly on for a while. I was mainly interested in creating different fairies and their personalities, but in the end they meshed together into what could later become a story. 2: I don't really have any plans for something like this as such. 3: Maybe!

I have several stories that would take place in the same "universe" as Gunnerkrigg Court, but right now I only really have the time to focus on the comic. I would really love to make extra material, such as accompanying books, or even just more in-depth versions of current plotlines. But sadly I have to prioritise.

What kind of pre-writing do you do? Do you have every page of a chapter laid out before you draw it, do you have scripts for all the pages, etc?

I like to have the whole chapter written before I start drawing it, so I have a page by page break down of what happens on each page. Then I plan the layout of each page when I come to draw it.

You're just going to have to quit your day job. Just kidding, of course. But more seriously, how is it working out doing 3 days a week?

Just kidding, of course. But more seriously, how is it working out doing 3 days a week? It's going well. I've been able to keep up so far so even though my buffer is smaller now I still have a lot of time to material finished ahead of time. I'm always looking for ways I can get a little bit more done each time.

Hey again! Just wondering, do you think your future comics would be pretty much the same genre as GC? Or could you picture yourself doing some sort of humorous comic or something?

GC is humourous! It just happens to be spooky and have a decent plot. And a lot of mysteries.

Lots of supernatural things happen in GC. Has anything like that ever happened to you? (seeing a ghost, etc)

Of course I think GC is funny, when it's meant to be funny. I just meant if he could ever start himself doing a comic that is kind of purely a joke comic, such as Dinosaur Comics or White Ninja.

Other comics I have in mind tend to be a bit more serious, really. I don't think I would ever be able to do a gag format comic, like most webcomics.

Is there any significance to the fact that, in the course of the webcomic, the speech balloons often come in different colors?
