Dear Tom, I notice that for some reason the comic link on Graphicsmash seems to work very well on Opera web browsers. As in, when I try to load the page the comic doesn't appear, even after several tries. It appears eventually, but then again I don't think I've really experienced this problem before on Opera. It works fine on Internet Explorer.
EDIT: And now it doesn't. It's all a bit wonky at the moment.

If your question is "why does Graphic Smash sometimes not work with Opera?", I suggest asking the people who run Graphic Smash.

What's the etymology of the name Gunnerkrigg? Or is that something which will come up in the comic?

It should come up in the story much later. However for a more interesting answer: I wanted a title that was intentionally awkward and easy to search for on Google.

what just happened to the forum?

It, along with all other Proboards, was automatically updated. Looks like there should be a couple new features now, but I gather most of them are behind the scenes. Nothing should change with how you use it, however.

I was wondering why the next page button was acting up yesterday, looks like it was just the update then.
Question to Tom: Have you heard of Joanna Newsom, and if you did, what do you think of her music?

Sorry, I have not heard of her.

Sorry, I have not heard of her. Hmm, you might want to check some of her songs out sometime. While her music and Kate Rusby's aren't quite the same, they both have a certain something about them. You'll probably either love or hate her music. ;D Sprout and the BeanCosmia (Youtube, my favourite song)Sawdust and Diamonds (Youtube)PS - Her music doesn't really lend itself well to the kind of cheap live recordings that are on youtube though.

Are the instances of the number 113 by any chance a reference to Brad Bird or the A113 in-joke?

Nope. Pure coincidence.

Is it common for Gunnerkrigg to start the school year with empty spots in some of the houses? Or is it significant that there was a spot in Queslett open for Antimony?
Also, does Kat have any other friends at the school?

Sometimes classes aren't full when the year starts. It's not significant.
Kat, amongst other things, will be the focus of the next chapter.

Question to Tom: Do you have any intention of expanding the forum with extra boards, off-topic areas, moderators, or upgrading to vBulletin for instance?

This is just a place to discuss stuff away from the comments section on the site. (Looks like I clicked the Modify button on your post instead of Quote by accident! Sorry)

Hey Tom, not sure if someone ask this before (we need an index, because searching in 24 pages is boring)
do you plan to update the cast section?

It's been on the cards for a long time. I was going to wait until I redesign the site a little, which will happen as soon as I get a chance.

Here's a question Tom: Can Antimony order Reynardine to possess something else? Maybe something else she owns, or whatever?

Yes she could. She'd have to make sure she owned whatever he was possessing or she would lose control of him.

Apologies if this has been asked before etc.
Have you considered the full benefits of having a "view from the gallery" chapter starring BOXBOT?
More seriously, does the structure and scope of the story allow for chapters with main POV characters other than Antimony and/or with Antimony largely or entirely absent? (Chapter 11 is perhaps the closest thing so far.)

If Rey tried to possess something with it's eyes blurred or crossed out, would it still work? like if someone made a picture of an eye, and then smudged it with and eraser a bit.

If it's meant to be an eye in any way, then it would be valid. However, the situation you described would never really arise.

Hey Tom, I'm a huge fan of your work, I half read it for the art. I have a few questions.
Are there any words of advice you would like to give to a young artist?
Are there any art books or art book writers that you would recommend?
Do you like the band They Might be Giants?
Do you like the Homestar runner website?
Will boxbot ever come back?

1) The best advice is often the most repeated, and so the most ignored but: draw as much as you can. Don't worry about how it turns out because the next thing you draw will be better. People will also tell you to do life drawing or figure drawing; you don't HAVE to, but it certainly helps. Also it does good to find art you like and study it to figure out what it is you like about it. Then you can head in that direction, or at least take inspiration from it.
2) The two most helpful books I've had were Anatomy For The Artist by Sarah Simblet, and Figure Drawing Without A Model (I forget the writer and cant find it right now). But to tell the truth I've learned more by looking at comics and artists I like than by looking in art books.
3) My knowledge of They Might Be Giants doesn't extend past that Tiny Toons episode where Plucky Duck sang Particle man and Constantinople. It's my favourite episode though!
4) I haven't looked at Homestar's site in years and years. I'm almost afraid to because I know there will be so much content to catch up on I'll waste a load of time >:[
5) That jerk might turn up sooner or later.
