Hey um. Anyone notice. "Ysengrin's love for you IS real"? Not "was" real? Despite his insistence a few pages ago that Ysengrin and Coyote are both dead?
I don't think Loup is telling the whole truth.

Loopy is the amalgamation of two gods, and this could be interpreted as the weird coyo-wolf hybrid representing one key characteristic of combo gods: An attempt at traditionalist renditions of their personas while also stressing that they are a separate entity. Froute Loupe can't escape the fact the structure his identity is built on is a mix of factors, namely the emotional strife and desires of his separate components. If he were an actual offspring, his emotions and core values would be independent, formed by outside factors and a characteristic learning process. But this isn't an offspring, this is a new being borne out of supernatural components that transferred far more than expected into this being. Hey um. Anyone notice. "Ysengrin's love for you IS real"? Not "was" real? Despite his insistence a few pages ago that Ysengrin and Coyote are both dead? I don't think Loup is telling the whole truth. I believe the answer for the latter can be in the former. Ysengrin's love for Annie can still exist in the present even if Ysengrin doesn't, for his personality and emotions is mixed up in this mad coywolf. Or both are still alive and fighting to control the body. Or both are dead AND their souls are still in those totens. Maybe Coyote realized that the fairies death was much like real death and the totens are just psychopomp shielding to avoid the dissolution of the soul while still emulating the nonexistence of death

Another indication that negotiating with Loup is going to be a severe challenge. (The part of him that comes from Coyote may think that the attack on the Court has served its purpose, but I'm not so sure about the Ysengrin side that just surfaced.)
Of course, Annie could still appeal to Ysengrin's love for her - but Loup might simply keep her in Gilltie Wood where she won't be endangered by the renewed assault (when it comes) under comfortable "house arrest" conditions.

Whatever the psychological machinations transpiring here, I find this page absolutely hilarious. I love Annie's annoyed reaction to being cherished/threatened.

Annie, you can't handle the tooth! Honestly, we all get your shark envy, Loup, but think of the cavities.
If Loup is a patchwork of Y and C, then he might consider "his" love for Annie as still Y's. Like inheriting a jacket from an uncle. It's yours and you wear it now, but you might still refer to it as Uncle Ysengrin's coat.

Whenever I admit my love to somebody, a skull pops out of my head and I tell them I'll rend their flesh if they don't believe me, too. As you do. Oh good, I thought I was the only one!

Tale as old as time True as it can be Barely even friends Then somebody bends Unexpectedly Just a little change Small to say the least Both a little scared Neither one prepared Beauty and the beast Ever just the same Ever a surprise Ever as before and ever just as sure as the sun will rise Ever just the same Ever a surprise Ever as before Ever just as sure As the sun will rise Tale as old as time Tune as old as song Bittersweet and strange Finding you can change Learning you were wrong Certain as the sun Certain as the sun Rising in the east Tale as old as time Song as old as rhyme Beauty and the beast Tale as old as time Song as old as rhyme Beauty and the beast Beauty and the beast Gosh, sure gives the lyrics of 'Beauty and the Beast' a whole new twisted meaning. Ever just the same, but ever a surprise? Bittersweet and strange? I'll say! Wonder how Annie feels about this declaration. It's clear she cares for Ysengrin, but... love? The big question – is their relationship a family love? A friendship love? A romantic love? We should take a poll, one for each character's attitude. I guess I hope it's family/friendship because I don't think romantic love makes sense between them at all, but I'm not sure what Loup is getting onto.

Also: Just for shits and giggles, I want fanart of Annie and Ysengrin (or Loup) out on a date. Because it would be hilarious.

I wonder if this is how Surma felt when Reynardine strolled in with his brand-spankies new body.

This page is for those readers who thought Loup was solely Coyote with a new outfit. I don't think that, but I will say this page looks disturbingly like Coyote in his skeletal form wearing Ysengrin's skin like a suit.

Perhaps it is somewhere in between, Coyote with his even closer link to Ysengrin is able to manipulate him even better, like a guy riding a horse.

(Did Loup read a pickup artist book which describes "Negging" or backhanded complement, and combine it with a BSDM manual describing "verbal humiliation" and throw his own unique spin on it to seduce? Will Loup be content with just one wife or will he need to combine her with Zimmy as a combo god needs a combo bride. Stay tuned for next episode of The Young, Restless, Bold and Beautiful days of our Loves)

Well that's not horrifying at all. Really, this page is making me think that Loup is destined to be a temporary phenomenon. Like the fusion of two large atoms, he's too unstable to exist for very long. The question is, when he does fall apart, will the parts look like the old Coyote and Ysengrin, or will they be something new? I love how Annie isn't scared on this page, it's like she's just angry that he had the audacity to yell at her. Literally anyone else in this comic would have turned tail and ran or immediately attacked. Annie really is the only person that can handle this situation. Well... I could see Jones standing her ground (if Loup would let her), and I could also see Zimmy crossing her arms with an unimpressed "Huh." But yeah, Annie is definitely the right girl for the job.

I wonder exactly how powerful Jones is compared to a physical god like Loup?

I believe that. Loup is offspring of essence of Ysengin and Coyote, he just has a problem showing his emotions with... Little subtility. He prob. really loves Fire Head Girl.
He's newborn still.

Jones could defy Coyote (or at least said she could) and Loup made sure to get rid of her before they could even meet face to face. I wonder exactly how powerful Jones is compared to a physical god like Loup? I have my own theory about why Loup dealt with Jones. So far, Annie's hardly said anything to him about why she came into the Woods - to get him to leave the Court alone. Instead, she's had her attention focused on the nature of Loup and the actions and motives of Ysengrin and Coyote that led to Loup's creation, with Loup dominating the conversation and steering it in that direction. It's likely that Annie's all but forgotten her original intent in coming here. Jones could have reminded her of that - therefore, get Jones out of the way so that Annie will be facing Loup on her own, and nobody else can tell her "He's drawing your attention away from your mission, keeping you so focused on Coyote's doings that you're not thinking about the danger that the Court stands in, the danger you came here to halt."

It is touching to be honest. In a mad and creepy way to be honest, but it is touching. Ysengrin loves Annie. He loves her whatever form/ shape/ creature. But his love, like her father's love and dare I say like her mum's love is tainted and weird and twisted. The only person who loves Annie in a healthy, giving way is Kat. Kat is the only one who doesn't want anything from Annie apart from Annie to love her back and be her friend. Everyone else wants something from Annie or wants Annie to be something. Okay, I know he hasn't been in the comic very much these days, but please don't forget about Renard! He was kind of a jerk at first (to say the least), but I think he's come a long way in 3 and a half years. Unlike Tony and James, Renard actually understands now that Annie's her own person, and doesn't try to mold her into some kind of duplicate Surma. And unlike Ysengrin, uh...well, he just hasn't been manipulated into his relationship with Annie by having his memories repeatedly removed and eaten. Ok so that one was kind of a special case which maybe doesn't need an explanation, but I'm including it anyway. The point is, Renard's a good guy and I think he's at least as important a figure in Annie's life as Kat is. Don't sell him short.

This page really makes me almost tear up for Ysengrin. He's a gentle soul without a clue about anything; possibly, only Annie could love him as he loved her. An innocent heart that everybody misunderstood or misused.

Well, I think the purposeful creation of the Big Bad Wolf is finally bearing fruit. Though, this fruit is thorny and sharp. (To whet: Loup should take care not to cut himself on all the edge he is exuding.)

I don't disagree but let's not forget he's also a human-hating warmonger who has been looking for an excuse to attack the Court and kill humans since pretty much ever and I don't think this part of him was manipulated by Coyote or anything like that

t.co/ZYdUY5WVwEThe name of the Volume makes me remember the Alchemical side of the comic. Do we remember Coyote and Ysengrin's meaning /elements/symbol? I'd agree that they got synthetized onto s very volatile unstable element...

Yeah, I thought about those two after I posted that, but we've already seen how Loup dealt with Jones and I imagine Loup dealing with Zimmy would be one of the most etherically gruesome things in the comic.
