Or I could be completely wrong, and this is more of a "lets have a look inside Y's tattered mind" chapter... along the lines phantaskippy suggested.

I read the whole thread before posting this just so I wasn't re-postulating someone else's theory but... Isn't it possible the Chickcharney, whose claws these are, lost and found Ysengrin's marbles? (Just kidding it's probably Coyote's claws because the Chickcharney's look scaly up close. I just wanted to throw a wrench in the works. Also, I found it weird that there were 3 claws at different angles coming in on the page --- Coyote is such a creep!)

Just noticed something: the three images of Annie here symbolize the progression of her relationship with Ysengrin. In the first image, she stands with her back to him, unaware of his existence. In the second image, she has started to turn towards him, but she is still very guarded, with a suspicious expression on her face and her hair shielding her from him. In the final image, she has turned to face him and is calm, smiling, at ease. Having seen that, I'm now wondering whether there's also a progression in the images of Ysengrin. It seems as if perhaps he's becoming more agitated over time? In the first image, his eyes are open and his snarl looks like a straightforward threat directed at "them." In the second image, his eyes are closed--indicating inner turmoil? In the third image, his eyes are still closed and his head is thrown back, as if screaming. My conclusion: Ysengrin has always hated humans, but his growing relationship with Antimony is making things complicated. He still wants (on some level) to hold onto that hate, and yet he's coming to love Annie--a human ( mostly). Extreme cognitive dissonance ensues. Second theory: Coyote is sequestering the I-hate-humans memories in particular, in order to facilitate Ysengrin's relationship with Annie. I don't know what his actual goal is here, since we've also seen him do things to disrupt Ysengrin's relationship with Annie. But perhaps time will tell.

"I HATE THEM I HATE THEM" snarled and snapped Ysengrin.
And Annie said, "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"
He said, "I think I remember the film. And, yes, I recall! I think we both kinda liked it."
And she said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."
